Clippers Look at Bright Side of Loss to Warriors, Troll Grizzlies on Twitter

Kyle NewportNov 5, 2015

Whether it be by four points or 50, a loss is a loss. However, most people would probably feel better about being competitive than being blown off the court.

That's what the Los Angeles Clippers can take pride in after their 112-108 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.

The Warriors handed the Clippers their first loss of the season in the back-and-forth battle, with there being a little too much Stephen Curry for Los Angeles to overcome. That tight game came just a couple of days after Golden State embarrassed the Memphis Grizzlies 119-69 on Monday.

Knowing what happened to the last team that faced the Warriors, the Clippers' official Twitter account did some trolling after Wednesday's tough loss:

Zing.

Although it doesn't matter what the margin of defeat was, the Clippers can at least feel good about the fact that they hung with the reigning champions. They may not be able to talk smack to the Warriors, but they can at least have a little fun with the Grizzlies—but Memphis players weren't fans of the "fun."

“It’s childish," Grizzlies guard Courtney Lee said, per Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal. "We took our L and we kept it moving, right? We lost by 50. We didn’t cry over it, and went on to the next one. Apparently, they’re holding on to it. That’s what they got to do to overshadow their loss. Last time I heard, a loss is a loss. But that’s what they do over there.”

Lee was hardly the only Memphis player who took exception to the tweet.

“You ever seen the movie 'White Men Can’t Jump'? It’s like those bothers would rather look good in a loss and look bad in a win," Grizzlies guard Tony Allen said, per Tillery. "Whoever is in charge of their Twitter should be fired. I’ve never seen anybody broadcast losing. Who’s proud of losing—whether it’s by one, two three or 50? Enough said.”

Grizzlies veteran forward Zach Randolph didn't seem to take the tweet too seriously.

"I take it with a grain of salt," Randolph said, per Tillery. "I ain’t with all that talking and Instagraming and tweeting and bluffing. You got to prove it on the court."

It will be interesting to see if this tweet has an impact on the game when the two teams meet in Los Angeles on Monday. The Grizzlies certainly have a little more motivation now to take it to the Clippers.
