Lengthy Recovery Remains for Irving
Saturday, July 25
Rather than standing by and simply observing the Kyrie Irving Basketball ProCamp from the sidelines over the weekend, the Cleveland Cavaliers star decided to join in on a dribbling drill to show the campers how it's done, per Chris Fedor of the Northeast Ohio Media Group.
Irving's participation was limited, but it represents a baby step in his recovery.
"Taking it one day at a time," he said. "It's a process getting back to where I want to be. But I'm doing what I can here with the kids and that's all that matters. I started walking about a week ago so whether I was on crutches or not I was still going to be here for the kids."
Fedor added that Irving is on schedule to make a full return around September.
Although the Cavaliers re-signed LeBron James and Kevin Love, their NBA title hopes will undoubtedly rest heavily on how Irving comes back from his fractured left kneecap.
The fact he's walking without crutches is a great sign for Cleveland and leads you to believe he could get back to 100 percent before the 2015-16 regular season tips off.
