Marco Belinelli to Kings: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
Marco Belinelli's stint in the Western Conference will continue, as the veteran guard has agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings.
According to ESPN Los Angeles' Ramona Shelburne, Belinelli's deal with the Kings is for three years and $19 million.
Belinelli has spent the past two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, winning an NBA title two years ago, and he was a solid contributor off the bench with 10.4 points in 24 minutes over 142 games.
According to Basketball-Reference.com, his 2.9 win shares in 2014-15 would have ranked fourth on the Kings behind Rudy Gay, DeMarcus Cousins and Darren Collison.
The deal for Belinelli marks the first notable investment for the Kings this offseason. The team grabbed headlines Wednesday by essentially dumping Nik Stauskas, Carl Landry and Jason Thompson to Philadelphia in an effort to clear $16 million in salary, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
While Belinelli isn't the kind of impact player Kings fans might have been hoping for after clearing that money, he's got a history of being a solid role player for playoff teams dating back to his time in Chicago three years ago.
Belinelli's deal also doesn't prohibit the Kings from making other moves. It's going to take time rebuilding this roster, but at least there seems to be some kind of plan in place to move forward in the Western Conference.
