Parker Not on Summer-League Roster
Thursday, July 2
According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports, the Milwaukee Bucks are taking a cautious approach with Parker.
On June 22, Bucks general manager John Hammond told Andrew Gruman of Fox Sports that "we are going to bring him back cautiously knowing who and what he is to this organization long term."
Parker appeared in 25 games during his rookie season last year, averaging 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game before tearing his ACL on December 15 against the Phoenix Suns.
The NBA Summer League could have been a good test to see how far off he is from competing at a top level after being out for seven months. The longer he sits, the longer the acclamation period will be in order to get him back to full speed.
While Parker continues to recover, he will be set to return to an improving Bucks team that just signed Greg Monroe to a maximum deal on Thursday, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. Milwaukee is quickly becoming one of the younger, more talented sides in the Eastern Conference, and Parker's safe return will be crucial for its plans. The Bucks have Caron Butler and Jared Dudley as a safety blanket if Parker's comeback takes longer than expected.
