New Mock Draft with the Heat Winning Lottery Simulation 🔮
Celtics Willing to Part with Smart
Thursday, June 25
According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, there's increasing chatter that the Celtics would deal Smart if they could get into the upper portion of the lottery:
That doesn't imply a deal is close to happening, or even likely, and Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe reported that it would take a huge offer for the Celtics to trade him:
With the 2015 NBA draft hours away, teams figure to be putting a lot of information out to see if an organization will bite. The Celtics have two first-round picks at No. 16 and 28, so they don't have to make a deal to add quality talent Thursday night.
Smart is a talented young player at 21 years old. He did struggle as a rookie, averaging 7.8 points and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 36.7 percent. The former Oklahoma State star has a lot of work to do before reaching his potential, but youth and upside make him a valuable asset in potential trade discussions.
The Celtics can play this situation out however they want, hoping a big offer comes their way or hanging on to Smart with the hope he continues to grow as a player.
