With the Bulls shockingly winning the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, the question now is, who will the Bulls take, Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose?
1. Chicago Bulls - Michael Beasley (Kansas State)
This is basically a coin-flip pick, as either player would automatically help this team a lot. I still have faith in current Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich that he can lead this team deep into the playoffs. Beasley can play inside and shoot from the outside, a pair of qualities Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas lack.
2. Miami Heat - Derrick Rose (Memphis)
The Heat will be very happy with either player being available there at No. 2. This position is easier than the No. 1 pick, because the Heat can easily take whichever stud isn't taken first. Rose would be an instant impact player for a Heat team with point guard in Jason Williams who is on the downturn of his career. Rose gets taken here and instantly helps the Heat win more games.
3. Minnesota Timberwolves - Brook Lopez (Stanford)
The Timberwolves get an instant impact from Lopez, who will take off a lot of pressure from Al Jefferson. Lopez and Jefferson could instantly become a tough duo to deal with inside the post. Not to mention, these two could play volleyball with one another, which would equal a lot of easy dunks.
4. Seattle Sonics - Jerryd Bayless (Arizona)
Seattle takes the best player available and somebody who can also become their franchise point guard in the near future. Bayless brings an instant intensity to win and will be a huge help to Durant by creating plays for him. Durant had to create his own plays last season.
5. Memphis Grizzlies - DeAndre Jordan (Texas A&M)
Memphis drafts a young player who could develop into a pretty good center. Memphis needs a lot of help, but starting down in the post is definitely a good place to start. Jordan is good enough to have an instant impact.
6. New York Knicks - O.J. Mayo (Southern California)
The Knicks draft a player who many say is the most NBA-ready of any player in the draft. Mayo should shine in New York, especially under Mike D'Antoni's run and gun offense. Mayo most likely will not start but should see quality minutes . He will definitely be accepted by the bright lights of NYC and New York Knicks fans in general.
7. Los Angeles Clippers - Eric Gordon (Indiana)
The Clippers take the best player here, even though they want a point guard. I think Gordon would be a better fit on the Bucks, but the Clippers draft him and get a solid contribution.
8. Milwaukee Bucks - Kevin Love (UCLA)
Milwaukee is not very deep at all in the power forward position, and Love could add some solid depth to this team in that position.
9. Charlotte Bobcats - Roy Hibbert (Georgetown)
The Bobcats take a huge chance on Hibbert, who last year would've been a definite lottery pick. This year, he most likely won't be drafted in the lottery but I think this would be a smart pick for Charlotte. The Bobcats are looking to move Okafor from center to power forward. Hibbert brings a great IQ and the ability to play right away.
10. New Jersey - Danilo Gallinari (Italy)
New Jersey desperately needs another player who can shoot the ball, and Gallinari brings that. He could be a nice backup to Jefferson or Carter on the Nets. Many see Gallinari as a new version of Toni Kukoc, and that is never a bad comparison.
11. Indiana Pacers - D.J. Augustin (Texas)
Indiana gets the point guard they need and one with a great character, something the Pacers organization needs. Augustin is undersized, but what he lacks in size he makes up in heart. Indiana can do no wrong by selecting Augustin with the 11th pick.
12. Sacramento Kings - Anthony Randolph (LSU)
Randolph is long and very athletic, and he could help the Kings as a backup to Spencer Hawes or Mikki Moore. It wouldn't surprise me if Randolph were able to surpass Moore.
13. Portland Trail Blazers - Russell Westbrook (UCLA)
Westbrook would become the backup to Brandon Roy. Westbrook brings a great defensive mind with the ability to make plays as well. If anything were to happen to Roy, Westbrook could definitely be able to step in and produce.
14. Golden State Warriors - Kosta Koufos (Ohio State)
Golden State gets what they usually love in their centers, a tall versatile player who can shoot the ball from anywhere. Koufos could become a definite impact player under Don Nelson's system, which is a run-and-gun style. Koufos also adds the ability to rebound and block some shots, something the Warriors haven't always had.

For some reason I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls traded the #1 pick for other picks and quality players, I don't know why but that just seems possible to me...

I thought the same thing but the talent is so amazing in this draft specifically that they will keep the pick and take one of the stars available

The Bucks have Yi and Charlie V. How are they not deep at the 4?

I love where you have O.J. Mayo, he belongs in New York with the rest of the trouble makers! Great placement!
from 3 months ago
nah, OJ is a good guy, he just is in this scandal. It isn't like he is in a drug scandal or something like that, he took some money and gives (allegedly) I can't say he is a trouble maker because of that

I never said he did drugs but he is in the scandal for taking money. I mean look at the rest of the talent in college basketball, you dont see them on ESPN's Outside the Lines. Im not saying that these top freshman were or were not in some way bribed to go where they did, but O.J. go busted. Just like in New York, it's a great group of athletes but they just dont play together and care about each other, causing a like reality show at Madison Square Garden.

I like your draft, I think Hibbert at nine would be a stretch for the Cats though. I agree they need an offensive big to pair with Okafor though. I'd rather have a more athletically gifted guy like McVale or DeAndre Jordan to pair with him. Even if we ran two fours with someone like a Darrell Arthur or Anthony Randolph it would make Okafor's offensive inabilities less of an issue.

I agree, I just don't see how Hibbert went from a lottery pick last season to end of the 1st rd this year, if this were last year Hibbert at 9 to the Bobcats would be an amazing pick for them, now its seen as a stretch. There is no doubt Hibbert can play, he just has to prove it to the nay-sayers again.

Very true, I think part of it is his propensity to defer to teammates instead of take over games. It was shown more this year without Jeff Green and that caused teams to backoff. I also think it is partially due to the influx of bigger talent to the draft this year. Hibbert is a polished player with skills but in terms of athleticism he is lacking compared to the other bigs in the draft.

Eh maybe, I am willing to debate that Hibbert out of all the big men in the draft this year that he is the best passing big man, best free throw shooting big man the only other one who might be better in either category is Brook Lopez

Charlotte does indeed need an offensive big man. Love very well could still be there for the Bobcats. The raw upside of Javale McGee or Anthony Randolph would probably also be more enticing. I just find it hard to see Big Roy in the lottery.
Any thoughts on Rider big man Jason Thompson?
from 3 months ago
I've heard he is quite a talent, I don't know much about him since he did play at Rider which automatically hurts him in many mock drafts, but the ones I have seen he looks to be a late 1st rd pick which seems really good for a guy who doesn't play at a major D1 school

I watched two games of his and from what I saw he seems to be Bosh-like. He's got a good j that ranges out to beyond the arc. But he's got the height and speed to make it happen down low. I think he just needs to add some bulk to that frame and learn how to dominate. Sometimes I felt he disappeared for stretches.
Love the upside. I'd love the Cavs to snag him at 19. Cleveland hasn't had a fast, athletic big in a long time.
And, no, Big Poppa Kemp does not count...

Roy Hibbert? Kind of a stretch if u ask me
If they really want him, they can trade Okafor, May, and Morrison down to some team so that they can get a new franchise center as well as Anthony Randolph. Bobcats will make the playoffs next year if they execute this perfectly.

LOL @ Hibbert in the top ten.
from 3 months ago
why are you laughing when last season Hibbert was a projected lottery pick, you wouldn't be laughing at him in the top 10 if this was last year, he didnt play at a level this year that would make him drop in the draft this much, I just don't get it
3 months ago
I actually would have laughed had he been a top ten pick last year as well. I just don't like the way Hibbert's game translates to the NBA. He was an average rebounder in college even with his height, and can't stay in games long at all because of foul trouble. He's slow, sluggish and that won't result in a lot of minutes for him in the league.

bucks won't draft love...although I wish i was wrong. With Yi entrenched there and Charlie V there as well, There aren't enough minutes for love

yeah im hella pumped one second and than pissed the next. We have such a bright future right now with thos 3 probably. even if bayless isnt there we get Mayo which is fine too. i would love to see the sonics trade up to get DeAndre Jordan and than take J.J. Hickson with the 24th pick.
line up:
G- Jerrd Bayless 19 years old
G- Kevin Durant 20 years old
F- Jeff Green 22ish or 21 years old
F- J.J. Hickson 19 years old
C- DeAndre Jordan 19 years old
Average age 20... thats a fucking young line that could actually be a possibly and not that long of a long shot since the sonics can take everyone on there team besides Durant and Green for draft picks and not to mention that we have 6 picks this year and we have 2 1st rounders in 2009 and 2 1st rounders in 2010.
If the Sonics have decent trades the next three years and nobody is a huge bust for them they will be extremely good playoff contenders and ill even say Durant one day might even get the scoring title over Lebron ( maybe).
