Internet Churns Out 'Top Gun' Memes After David Blatt's 'Fighter Pilot' Remark

After being called out for nearly doing a very dumb thing at the end of Sunday's Game 4 thriller against the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt said a very dumb thing in defense of his prior near-dumbness.

ESPN's Dave McMenamin tweeted out a transcript of Blatt's remark. Fielding a question about the criticism coaches face every game, Blatt told reporters that being a basketball coach requires the on-the-fly decision-making skills of a trained fighter pilot:

Well then, surely we'll all just chalk this up to hyperbole and let it go in the name of…wait, no. No one should let it go.

Plenty of people on social media made Top Gun and pilot-related memes involving Blatt—that basketball maverick and hardwood strategist who nearly Chris Webber'd his team out of a playoff victory:
