The six-time NBA champion's procedure took place on his 68th birthday, and per a statement released by UCLA Health, the Hall of Famer is very thankful that the surgery was deemed a success:

The former UCLA star is undoubtedly one of the greatest players in history, as he left an indelible mark on the Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks and the sport of basketball as a whole.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995, the 19-time All-Star is the NBA's all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points. With career averages of over 24 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks per game, Abdul-Jabbar is arguably the best center to ever play.

He continues to be an excellent ambassador for the NBA, and he will have no shortage of support in his recovery.
