Derrick Rose Injury Update: Bulls Star Begins Rehab Just 1 Day After Surgery

The sky may not be falling for Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls after all.

After it was initially thought that Rose might be out for the rest of the season, ESPNChicago.com's Nick Friedell reported Friday that the 26-year-old point guard could return in four to six weeks after tearing his meniscus.

On Saturday, Friedell wrote that Rose already began rehabbing at the team's training facility, one day after he had meniscectomy on his right knee.

"It's just the initial steps, but we're cautiously optimistic," said Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, per Friedell. "He's in good spirits. He's on it, so it's good."

K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune provided some more insight:

Of course, Bulls fans shouldn't get too ahead of themselves. It's still way too early to set a definitive date for Rose's return, as he has a long road ahead in order to get back on the court.

With that said, those fans will be heartened by the fact that Rose is attacking his rehab so quickly after his surgery.
