Chris Bosh Injury: Twitter Reacts to Star Ruled out for Season with Blood Clots

Joseph ZuckerFeb 21, 2015

Although the news didn't come as a huge surprise, it was nonetheless tough to hear for NBA fans. The Miami Heat officially announced that Chris Bosh will miss the rest of the 2014-15 season to deal with blood clots that were discovered on his lung.

Strictly from an on-court perspective, this is a major blow to the Heat. They're only a game ahead of the Brooklyn Nets, which sit ninth in the Eastern Conference. Without Bosh, Miami will have to fight hard to stay in the top eight, even after the addition of Goran Dragic.

Bosh's contributions will be irreplaceable:

Of course, Bosh's health supersedes the Heat's potential playoff run.

Plenty of NBA insiders, including Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix, ESPN.com's Tom Haberstroh and The Associated Press' Tim Reynolds, spoke to the man that Bosh is:

According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports, "his prognosis is good":

ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne thinks that the quickness with which Bosh found the problem was only a good thing:

Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald reported that Bosh wasn't feeling well before taking a brief vacation to Haiti during the All-Star break. He then visited a hospital shortly after arriving back in Miami, and it was then that the blood clots were found.

Shelburne hopes that this news will help some realize how blood clots can sometimes become an issue when traveling long distances:

ESPN.com's Israel Gutierrez offered advice on how to be more proactive about the issue:

The timing of the news led to some early scares. Former NBA veteran Jerome Kersey passed away earlier in the week after a blood clot moved up to his lungs. It's obviously a serious concernand one the Heat and Bosh aren't taking lightly.

Since doctors were able to find the clots so early, it would seem that Bosh avoided a more serious diagnosis.
