Brandon Knight, Michael Carter-Williams, Miles Plumlee Part of 3-Team Trade
The Milwaukee Bucks have reportedly traded point guard Brandon Knight to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster three-team deal that just beat the NBA's trade deadline on Thursday. The Philadelphia 76ers were the third team involved in the trade.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports broke the news:
Ken Berger of CBS Sports passed along more details:
Marc Stein of ESPN provided the other facets of the deal, which essentially acts like a four-way swap:
Marshall is expected to be bought out, per Paul Coro of azcentral.com. Kenyon Martin is also expected to be waived by Milwaukee, per Wojnarowski.
Michael Carter-Williams posted his reaction on social media, as did Tyler Ennis:
Charles Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Carter-Williams won't play right away for the Bucks due to a sprained toe.
Knight was averaging 17.8 points, 5.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Bucks this season. It's the second major trade he's been involved in despite being in the league less than four years. He was previously involved in a swap that included Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Jennings in 2013.
Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said about acquiring Knight (per AZCentral.com's Paul Coro), "We feel like we got the best player in the trade, coming or going."
In exchange, the Bucks get some promising young pieces from different teams. Carter-Williams, the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, comes over from the 76ers. Tyler Ennis, a first-round pick in the 2014 draft, and 2012 first-rounder Miles Plumlee also arrive in Milwaukee from the Suns.
Philadelphia continues its rebuilding process by adding more picks to its arsenal with a clear eye on the future.
