Dwyane Wade accepted the YouTube prom invitation of a local high school senior during the Miami Heat's break between playoff series, proving once and for all that the Heat are in full-on cruise control through the 2013 NBA playoffs.
According to WSVN TV in Miami, Nicole Muxo cooked up a video request to the Heat shooting guard after she struck out in her attempt to get Wade to accompany her to a homecoming dance earlier in the year.
Here's the clip, in all its glory:
Sure, it's a little corny, and the jokes (if they're actually jokes) fall flat. But the girl's in high school, not getting her masters in film from USC. What do you expect?
Anyway, her persistence and willingness to embarrass herself paid off in a big way, as D-Wade actually showed up to surprise her at the big dance. He relayed the news via his Instagram account:
Wade earned major "good guy" points for the effort, but he somehow hasn't caught any flak yet for taking time out of his postseason schedule to attend high school dances.

Gotta be honest. Dwyane Wade showing up to spend a few minutes with a fan at her prom is one of the best stories I've heard in a while.5/18/2013, 2:55:13 AM
It'd be one thing if Miami was engaged in a series at the moment, but since the team is sitting around and waiting, Wade's extracurricular activities are really no big deal.
Besides, perhaps one of the new dances the kids are doing these days will function as physical therapy for Wade's bad knee.
What's really impressive about this whole thing is that a simple YouTube request got the job done.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to travel back in time to my high school days, invent YouTube and make a prom request to Britney Spears. Apparently, the odds of success are pretty good.
