Updated Fantasy Football Rankings at Week 11: Top 70 RB's for the Rest of 2010

Nick CaronNov 20, 2010

Maurice Jones-Drew finally decided to show up last week, helping his Jaguars to a big overtime victory over the Texans. Though many expected the game to be a passing shootout, Jones-Drew had his biggest fantasy game of the year as he rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns while adding 23 yards receiving.

Though he has a couple tough matchups against the Browns and Giants over the next two weeks, the schedule lightens up for the fantasy playoffs when he faces the Raiders, Colts and Redskins. Jones-Drew moves up three spots to ninth among running backs.

One of the biggest fallers this week is New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson. After a surprisingly excellent start to the season, the former league MVP has trailed off over the past few weeks and has not hit the end zone since his Week 6 performance against the Broncos.

Though he continues to contribute solid total yardage numbers, it was Shonn Greene who received 20 carries to Tomlinson’s 18 in Week 10.

It appears that both Greene and Tomlinson will continue to be fantasy relevant going forward, but the gap is starting to narrow.

Remember, the Jets gave most of their carries to Thomas Jones in 2009 throughout the regular season, but then started to give significantly more carries to Shonn Greene towards the end of the year.

This looks like it could be headed down the same path. Tomlinson tumbles down 11 spots this week, while Greene moves up four.

Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones is among the biggest risers, up 13 spots this week, as the Cowboys finally appear to be willing to give him enough touches to make him fantasy-relevant.

Jones received 17 touches on Sunday as the Cowboys shocked the red-hot Giants. The 17 touches were the most Jones has received since Week 6 when he touched the ball 24 times against the Vikings.

While he is still a questionable starter, Jones does have games remaining against the Lions, Colts and Cardinals—all teams which have struggled mightily to stop running backs this year.

The Saints running back situation is a mangled mess of junk and it’s about to get even more difficult to predict. Rumors are that Reggie Bush will be ready to play either this Sunday or next week at the latest.

While Bush is not a great runner, he is an excellent short-yardage receiver and has been missed mightily by Drew Brees.

With Pierre Thomas still on the injury report and expected to miss more time, look for the Saints to get the ball to Bush more often than usual, making him a decent fantasy play provided that he doesn’t see any lingering effects from his broken fibula.

Chris Ivory should continue to get a decent number of touches, however, until Thomas returns.

The Redskins running back situation is also in fluctuation from week to week as they continue to deal with injuries at the position.

Originally replacing the injured Clinton Portis with Ryan Torain, the Redskins had to turn to Keiland Williams when Torain missed last week’s game with an injury of his own.

While the Redskins were blown out by the Eagles, Williams had an unbelievable fantasy night, rushing for 89 yards and two touchdowns while adding 50 yards and a touchdown receiving.

With Portis expected to be back this week, Williams’ value doesn’t rise as much as it could have—but he is expected to at least get the majority of carries for the next week or two as Portis get worked back into the offense.
