NFL Predictions: Analyzing Each Team's Over/Under for Wins

Tony SantorsaJun 3, 2018

The NFL odds are in!

Betting on football is one of the most entertaining, enjoyable and just plain fun things to do.

Whether if it's fantasy football or betting on your favorite team, you'll get a real thrill and joy out of it.

In a recent ESPN insider report, they released the over/under for each team, and I am going to tell you whether you should pick over or under.

Arizona Cardinals: Over/Under 7 Wins

1 of 32

Over

I strongly believe that the Arizona Cardinals are going to be a nice surprise in 2011.

The addition of Kevin Kolb will stabilize their passing game, as he will get the ball to superstar Larry Fitzgerald consistently.

Nine or eight wins seems about right for this Cardinals club. The team is a young and lacks experience but should thrive in a very weak and watered-down NFC West.

Atlanta Falcons: Over/Under 10 Wins

2 of 32

Over

The Atlanta Falcons are a in a great position to win the NFC South in 2011.

The additions of Julio Jones and Ray Edwards will definitely bolster the team's production on both sides of the ball.

This will be Matt Ryan's fourth year in the league, and he should thrive with a stellar receiving corps made up of Jones, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez.

I'd say at least 11 wins for this squad.

Baltimore Ravens: Over/Under 10.5 Wins

3 of 32

Over

The Baltimore Ravens will have obvious troubles against the Pittsburgh Steelers but should beat up on the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns, which should result in four easy victories.

This will be Joe Flacco's second year with Anquan Boldin, and I am expecting big things from these two.

I'm predicting at least 11 wins for the Ravens in 2011.

Buffalo Bills: Over/Under 5.5 Wins

4 of 32

Under

The Buffalo Bills may be moving in the right direction, especially with their 2011 first-round selection Marcell Dareus, but they are simply not ready to compete in the AFC East in 2011.

Buffalo will face two very good football teams in the New England Patriots and the New York Jets and a competitive team in the Miami Dolphins twice each—I find it hard to believe that the Bills will accumulate anymore than one win out of those six games.

Buffalo will be sitting pretty in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

Carolina Panthers: Over/Under 4.5 Wins

5 of 32

Under

First-year head coach Ron Rivera and rookie quarterback Cam Newton are going to have major issues in 2011.

The Panthers are without a doubt rebuilding and are still missing a lot of pieces—not to mention lack experience on both sides of the ball.

Carolina will only win four games at most this season.

Chicago Bears: Over/Under 8.5 Wins

6 of 32

Over

All reports out of Chicago is that Jay Cutler is well on his way to having a stellar year in 2011.

Cutler will be playing in his second year in Mike Martz's offensive system and should put up even better numbers than he did in 2010, especially with newly signed wide receiver Roy Williams.

The Bears are well rounded offensively and defensively and should accumulate around 10 wins this season.

Cincinnati Bengals: Over/Under 5.5 Wins

7 of 32

Under

Brace yourselves, Bengals fans, 2011 is going to be a very rough and depressing season—The Bengals are simply not going to be competitive at all.

The Bengals have so many questions offensively and defensively and have no true quarterback.

Cincinnati should finish with at most five wins in 2011.

Cleveland Brows: Over/Under 6.5 Wins

8 of 32

Under

Pat Shumur's football team still has a lot of holes to fill and does not have a true NFL-ready quarterback.

The Cleveland Browns sit in a division with two powerhouse teams, the Ravens and the Steelers, and will struggle to compete against both of them.

Cleveland will sit at the bottom of the division along with the Bengals with around five wins.

Dallas Cowboys: Over/Under 9 Wins

9 of 32

Over

The Dallas Cowboys will have more than nine wins in 2011, but not by much, as I believe that they'll end up being a 10-6 football team.

Dallas sits in the very competitive NFC East and will have a hard time beating both the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants.

Dallas will end up battling the Giants for second place in the NFC East.

Denver Broncos: Over/Under 5.5 Wins

10 of 32

Over

I have a funny feeling about the Denver Broncos, but there's something about them that makes feel like that they'll have quite a few pleasant surprises in 2011.

Many probably believe that John Fox's first year in Denver will likely be a rebuilding year with around four wins, but I'm predicting that they'll be competitive with Kyle Orton at quarterback and should come out with a 6-10 record.

Detroit Lions: Over/Under 8 Wins

11 of 32

Over

The time to win is now for the Detroit Lions.

The Lions are a solid football team with only a few minor issues offensively and defensively.

I can easily see this team being a winning football team in 2011, but it all depends on if Matthew Stafford can remain healthy.

Green Bay Packers: Over/Under 11.5 Wins

12 of 32

Under

Before you start freaking out, hear me out: I believe that the Green Bay Packers will be an 11-5 football team this year.

It's no secret that it's a major challenge to win back-to-back Super Bowls, but the Packers will have a legitimate shot at doing so this year.

Houston Texans: Over/Under 8.5 Wins

13 of 32

Over

It is finally the year for the Houston Texans, as they'll make a run for a Wild Card spot in the 2011 playoffs.

Houston is talented on both sides of the ball and will have a major overhaul defensively, as first-year defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will be installing his 3-4 defense.

It's plain and simple: The Texans can only go a certain amount of years without making the playoffs.

The time to win is now.

Indianapolis Colts: Over/Under 9.5 Wins

14 of 32

Over

There's no surprise that the Colts are going to be competitive this year—Peyton Manning is the team's quarterback, for crying out loud.

I'm definitely picking over on this one, but not by much, as I still believe that Indianapolis has a few holes offensively and defensively and should finish at least 10-6.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Over/Under 6.5 Wins

15 of 32

Under

It seems like year in and year out that the Jacksonville Jaguars find ways to stay competitive but never really make any noise.

However, I believe that this year they'll struggle big time in their division against the Colts and Texans and will have trouble in their passing game with the loss of Mike Sims-Walker.

I'm thinking a 5-11 seems about right for the Jags.

Kansas City Chiefs: Over/Under 8 Wins

16 of 32

Over

Matt Cassel and the Kansas City Chiefs were a pleasant surprise last year, as they won the AFC West and posted a record of 10-6.

Cassel will now be coached by Jim Zorn and he should polish his skills furthermore after a successful 2010 season.

Kansas City improved offensively and defensively and should be at least a 10-6 football team this year.

Miami Dolphins: Over/Under 7.5 Wins

17 of 32

Under

The Miami Dolphins are by no means the Buffalo Bills, but they will struggle on multiple accusations this year.

If Chad Henne doesn't find a way to be an NFL quarterback, Miami is in big trouble, as the Jets and Patriots are simply too much to handle.

I'm thinking a possible 6-10 record for the 'Fins.

Minnesota Vikings: Over/Under 7 Wins

18 of 32

Over

Donovan McNabb will tremendously improve this team from a year ago. McNabb is a solid passer that's a definite upgrade from Brett Favre and Tarvaris Jackson and should lead this team to several victories in 2011.

Minnesota has a nice foundation with a solid defense and an elite running back in Adrian Peterson.

I could see the Vikings finishing with around eight or nine wins.

New England Patriots: Over/Under 11.5 Wins

19 of 32

Over

The New England Patriots posted a league-best 14-2 record in 2010 and should continue right on where they left off last year.

New England added a few new pieces to the puzzle in Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth, who have the potential to make a huge positive impact.

The Patriots should finish with a 12-4 record in 2011.

New Orleans Saints: Over/Under 10 Wins

20 of 32

Over

The New Orleans Saints are a force to be reckoned with in 2011.

Drew Brees is back with a new weapon offensively in rookie running back Mark Ingram, as he should stabilize the team's offensive attack and could make it a bit more balanced.

Watch out for the Saints, as they should post an 11-5 record this year.

New York Giants: Over/Under 9.5 Wins

21 of 32

Under

I simply don't think that Eli Manning is a good quarterback—he turns the ball over way too much and isn't a great fit for the city of New York.

Granted, he did win a Super Bowl back in 2007, but that was with a dominant defense.

I find it hard to believe that New York will finish with more than nine or eight wins this year.

New York Jets: Over/Under 10 Wins

22 of 32

Over

Let's face it, the New York Jets are a good football team, as they've made it to the AFC championship the last two seasons.

Mark Sanchez has a lot more experience and should progress even more in 2011, and I'm thinking that 11-5 sounds about right for the Jets.

Oakland Raiders: Over/Under 7 Wins

23 of 32

Over

The Oakland Raiders are a solid, but average football team.

This will be Hue Jackson's first year as head coach and he should continue developing their young offense into a productive one.

However, at times, I believe that Jackson will be out-coached which will result in just an 8-8 record in 2011.

Philadelphia Eagles: Over/Under 10.5 Wins

24 of 32

Over

I'm not buying into Vince Young's declaration that this is the "Dream Team," but I firmly believe that they'll post the best record in the NFC this season.

Philadelphia is talented on both sides of the ball and should end with a solid 13-3 record.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Over/Under 10.5 Wins

25 of 32

Under

After a devastating Super Bowl loss at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have a bit of down year in 2011—but not too down.

The Steelers are definitely a talented football team and will be competitive in 2011, but they will only tally 10 wins this year.

San Diego Chargers: Over/Under 10 Wins

26 of 32

Over

It's almost impossible to have the league's top offense and defense but find a way not to make the playoffs, and the San Diego Chargers did so in 2010.

The Chargers are loaded with talent at nearly every position and should sit atop of the AFC West with an impressive 12-4 record.

San Francisco 49ers: Over/Under 7.5 Wins

27 of 32

Under

This is almost like stealing—everyone needs to pick the under on this one!

There is no way that San Francisco finishes with eight wins this season.

The 49ers are simply an average football team that doesn't have a true quarterback. I'm predicting a 5-11 record for Jim Harbaugh's first year in San Francisco.

Seattle Seahawks: Over/Under 6 Wins

28 of 32

Over

The Seattle Seahawks have the potential to be very competitive in 2011, but it all depends on if Tarvaris Jackson can emerge as a quality NFL starter.

Jackson definitely has the talent and upside, but he just needs to find a way to make it work.

Seattle has had a solid offseason with the additions of Jackson, Robert Gallery and Sidney Rice and should make a run at the NFC West title with an 9-7 record.

St. Louis Rams: Over/Under 7.5 Wins

29 of 32

Under

The St. Louis Rams were a nice surprise last year but are simply too young to win the division in 2011.

The Rams are definitely on the rise, but they haven't improved nearly as much as division rivals Arizona and Seattle.

I'm thinking a 6-10 record for the Rams this year.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Over/Under 8 Wins

30 of 32

Over

Eight wins just seems way too low for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Josh Freeman is ready to win and he's going to win now. There's no doubt that Freeman is on the rise and that he should emerge as an elite quarterback in the near future and will take positive steps forward in 2011.

The Bucs should finish with at least nine wins this season.

Tennessee Titans: Over/Under 7 Wins

31 of 32

Under

The Tennessee Titans could be in for some trouble in 2011, especially with the holdout from superstar Chris Johnson.

If Johnson isn't on the field, the Titans will a have no chance of winning, and even if he's on the field, the chances of winning are slim to none.

Tennessee will only rack up around five wins this year.

Washington Redskins: Over/Under 6 Wins

32 of 32

Under

If Mike Shanahan is actually serious and committed to rolling out Josh Beck as the team's starter in 2011, then Washington is going to be an absolutely dreadful football team.

Even if the 'Skins don't start Beck and decide to go with Rex Grossman, they're still in for a rough ride.

The only advice that I can give to Washington fans is to start watching Stanford games this fall, as Andrew Luck will likely be their future quarterback.
