Fantasy Football Week 3: Sunday Morning Game-Day Preview
Welcome to Week 3 of the NFL and fantasy football season.
Not only is this the final week before bye weeks begin, but we will also see Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell return after this week.
At the time of writing, four teams are favored by a touchdown or more: the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers, per Odds Shark.
The Sunday Night Football game is not going to live up to the thrill of Week 2's matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers, though.
Instead, we get Brian Hoyer vs. Dak Prescott.
Good luck in Week 3. There are a ton of great matchups this week—well, besides Cowboys and Bears.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Arizona Cardinals at Buffalo Bills
1 of 14
Game Preview
For the first time since 2004, the Arizona Cardinals will be on the road against the Buffalo Bills.
Coming into this game, the Cardinals are 1-1, whereas the Buffalo Bills are winless. Through the first two games of the season, the Bills have already made headlines with the everlasting foot injury to wide receiver Sammy Watkins and the firing of offensive coordinator Greg Roman.
The Cardinals opened the season with a loss to the Tom Brady-less New England Patriots but rebounded in strong fashion against the up-and-coming Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a commanding 40-7 win.
The Cardinals are one of three road favorites this week at minus-3.5, per Odds Shark.
With a Bills loss, could management force head coach Rex Ryan to pack his bags sooner rather than later?
Injury Updates
For the home-team Bills, the main injury is with Watkins, who will not play, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Fantasy Fixtures
Cardinals
Traditionally, New Era Field (formerly known as Ralph Wilson Stadium) has been a tough place to play. For the Cardinals, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is a must-play. Fellow wide receiver John Brown has yet to be fully recovered after being injured in the preseason. At this point in his career, Fitzgerald will see more time in the slot and will rack up the targets and catches, increasing his fantasy value.
Of course, running back David Johnson is always a must-play. After a tough rushing performance in Week 2 against the Buccaneers, Johnson should rebound. If he isn't able to rack up a ton of rushing yards, he will make up for it in the passing game, where he is as good as it gets at the position in the NFL.
Bills
With Watkins out, it's tough to locate a must-start on the Bills. In drafts leading up to the season, fantasy players drafted quarterback Tyrod Taylor to be a starter, but it's been the tale of two games thus far, as he finished as the QB31 in Week 1 and the QB4 in Week 2. Going up against Arizona, he'll have his hands full.
Sleepers and Streamers
With Cardinals wide receiver Brown still working his way back, fellow wide receiver Michael Floyd makes for a solid play this week. In Week 2, New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed six passes of 20 yards or longer against the Bills, and that is where Floyd excels—down the field.
With Watkins sitting, fellow wide receiver Robert Woods will become the presumptive No. 1 receiver in the offense. So, based off expected volume alone, Woods makes for a deep sleeper play, albeit a risky one.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans
2 of 14
Game Preview
One of two teams traveling from the West Coast to the East this weekend will be the Oakland Raiders when they take on the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans won a thriller in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions after the Lions committed three straight penalties that ultimately led to a 1st-and-goal from just around the 30-yard line.
Also a thrilling victory, the Raiders beat the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 on a two-point conversion, but the Atlanta Falcons throttled them in Week 2 .
This matchup will be a true test of the Raiders' young, talented offense against the Titans' gritty defense.
Although the Raiders are a slight road favorite, the Titans will come away with this one.
Injury Updates
The most notable injury is on the Raiders defensive side of the ball, as defensive back David Amerson has a concussion. If Amerson is unable to go, the depth behind him is porous, including fellow defensive back D.J. Hayden who is, well, not good.
In a late development Sunday morning, Titans tight end Delanie Walker has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, according to ProFootballTalk.
Fantasy Fixtures
Raiders
Second-year wide receiver Amari Cooper is a must-play, regardless of the prowess of the Titans defense. Cooper should see a healthy amount of volume and is a solid bet to find the end zone, as the Titans should stymie the running game.
Titans
With Walker out, it's tough to locate one player in particular that is a "must start." With that said, the Raiders have allowed over 400 yards passing, so rookie wide receiver Tajae Sharpe is likely in the best spot to see more action.
Sleepers and Streamers
As mentioned before, the Raiders give up a ton of yards, making quarterback Marcus Mariota a decent streaming option. Besides the passing game, Mariota has the ability to run on broken plays, which gives him a slightly higher floor than some other quarterbacks.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Cleveland Browns vs. Miami Dolphins
3 of 14
Game Preview
The Cleveland Browns cannot catch a break, as both of their top-two quarterbacks in Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown as well as rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman are out for extended periods of time.
As a result, rookie quarterback and USC product Cody Kessler will get the start on the road against the Miami Dolphins, who will be without their starting running back, Arian Foster.
The Dolphins are nearly a double-digit favorite at home against a decimated Browns team.
Expect the Dolphins to win their first game of the 2016 NFL season in Week 3.
Injury Updates
As mentioned previously, the Browns will be without Griffin III, McCown and Coleman with various injuries that will sideline them for quite some time. In addition, the Browns will be without their best cornerback in Joe Haden. He has a groin injury.
Conversely, the Dolphins will be without Foster and will start running back Kenyan Drake, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Fantasy Fixtures
Browns
Because we have no idea how effective Kessler will be in the passing game, running back Isaiah Crowell is worth a start when you think about his potential workload.
Crowell should see 20-plus carries to take the pressure off Kessler.
Dolphins
You have to play quarterback Ryan Tannehill's main target, No. 1 wide receiver Jarvis Landry.
Through the first two games of the season, Landry has the second-most receptions in the NFL, only trailing New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, who has already played his third game this season on Thursday Night Football.
Against this weak Browns defense, Landry should catch a good number of targets.
Besides the offensive players, the Dolphins defense is a must-start. I mean, come on, a rookie quarterback and Miami is at home.
What more is there to say?
Sleepers and Streamers
For the Browns, their No. 1 receiver in Coleman's absence will be Terrelle Pryor. Garbage time/a deep play could assist in propelling Pryor's value in Week 3, but don't bank on it.
On the Dolphins, starting running back Drake has flex appeal. Miami should lead this one early and often, thus resulting in a positive game script for the running attack and Drake, who will draw the start over fellow running back Jay Ajayi.
Tannehill is also worth streaming here. He should toss a couple of touchdowns.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars
4 of 14
Game Preview
Virtually a pick'em game, the Baltimore Ravens will be on the road against the new-look Jacksonville Jaguars.
Although their plethora of offseason moves resulted in them looking great on paper, they have yet to translate that to their on-field performance, starting the year 0-2.
On the flip side, the Ravens are 2-0 after overcoming a 20-point deficit in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns.
Perhaps the most intriguing development is Ravens wide receiver Mike Wallace's rebirth; he has hooked up with quarterback Joe Flacco for three touchdowns already this season.
This could be somewhat of a shootout, but the Jaguars will fall at home.
Injury Updates
For the visiting Ravens, they still await the debut of rookie running back Kenneth Dixon, who has a chance to return in a week or two.
The home-team Jaguars could quite possibly be without a few of those offseason additions, including running back Chris Ivory, who has been out all season with a general medical issue that hospitalized him for a number of days, and cornerback Prince Amukamara. However, Ivory is supposedly on track to play, according to Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com.
According to the injury report, Amukamara is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury and has not practiced all week.
Lastly, offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum has been ruled out with a concussion, which deteriorates the Jaguars offensive line slightly.
Fantasy Fixtures
Ravens
As mentioned before, the phenomenon that is Wallace cannot be ignored. Having caught touchdowns in both games so far this season, Wallace will likely continue that trend against a secondary that could be without Amukamara.
Jaguars
Although he's had a frustrating start, wide receiver Allen Robinson is a must-play. Going up against the Ravens, we could see some scoring on both sides of the ball, and Robinson will be the primary beneficiary.
Also, running back T.J. Yeldon is worth playing this week. Without Ivory, Yeldon is set to see a similar workload to that of Week 1, where he carried the ball 21 times. The Ravens also give up more than 18 fantasy points per game to the running back position. Yeldon is a great RB2 option.
Sleepers and Streamers
The best streaming option here is Ravens quarterback Flacco. Through the first two weeks, he ranks 10th in pass attempts and fifth in pass attempts that sail 20 or more yards downfield.
Because of this, coupled with the matchup, Flacco is a candidate for multiple touchdown strikes—especially when he has legitimate deep-threat options.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
5 of 14
Game Preview
The Detroit Lions will take on their biggest NFC North foe in the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
In 2015, the Lions defeated the Packers on their home field 18-16 but lost at home from a Hail Mary from Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Both teams are coming off crushing defeats, and the winner will be the sole owner of second place in the NFC North.
Will Rodgers finally start playing like we're used to seeing him?
Injury Updates
The Lions will be without their lead pass-rusher in Ziggy Ansah with an ankle injury. This could be a devastating loss, especially going up against Rodgers.
However, the Packers will be without three key defensive players: linebacker Clay Matthews, safety Morgan Burnett and No. 1 cornerback Sam Shields, per the injury report. With all the weapons the Lions have, this could prove to be problematic.
Fantasy Fixtures
Lions
With running back Ameer Abdullah on injured reserve, Theo Riddick instantly becomes a must-start when you factor in his newfound workload as well as his pass-catching prowess.
The other player who you need to play is wide receiver Marvin Jones. With Burnett and Shields out, Jones is in a great spot against weaker competition, using his size to haul in a number of targets. He's a touchdown candidate in this one.
Packers
While he's struggled thus far, Rodgers is someone you need to play. I mean, he's Aaron Rodgers.
Ansah for the Lions is out, and that should allow Rodgers to have more time in the pocket to use his quirky mechanics to make plays.
I'm not thrilled with either Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb. I'd play them, but they don't fall into the must-start category.
Sleepers and Streamers
The Packers have allowed two touchdowns on the year to opposing tight ends and give up the third-most fantasy points to the position, making Lions tight end Eric Ebron a reasonable play. Ebron is a great red-zone threat, and the Packers' overall inability to defend tight ends could result in a cheap score for Ebron.
Though the Packers give up the third-most fantasy points to tight ends, the Lions give up the most at 21 points per game. The first two games of the season haven't been stellar for Packers tight end Jared Cook, but he has about as good a chance as any to score his first touchdown of the year.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals
6 of 14
Game Preview
This game should be entertaining throughout and fairly low scoring.
As 3.5-point home favorites, the Cincinnati Bengals will host the Denver Broncos and quarterback Trevor Siemian.
As usual, the Broncos defense is about as good as we've seen in a long time, and this should create myriad issues for a Bengals offense that struggled to put up points against the Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 2.
Siemian will be in for another solid challenge this week. Will he hold up and win his first road test?
Injury Updates
The Broncos will be without their starting tight end Virgil Green as well as veteran outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware, per the injury report. Neither of these injuries should impact the Broncos' prospects in this game, though.
Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert will miss his third consecutive game as the team awaits for the young tight end's debut.
Fantasy Fixtures
Broncos
Due to the lack of the team's passing ability, running back C.J. Anderson is a must-start almost every week because of his expected workload. In both weeks, Anderson has had back-to-back 20-carry games, and that trend will continue.
Bengals
In his last game against the Broncos in Week 16 of 2015, wide receiver A.J. Green had five receptions on eight targets for 57 yards and a score. Though the Broncos defense is otherworldly, Green will see enough action that warrants a must-start and has the best opportunity of the Bengals to find the end zone.
Sleepers and Streamers
While no players on either side stick out as sleepers, both defenses are playable in what should be a low-scoring game. Of the two, the Broncos are the defense to own here, as they seem to just have no issue in creating turnovers.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Minnesota Vikings at Carolina Panthers
7 of 14
Game Preview
After a commanding victory in his debut with the team, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford will have another tall task: traveling to take on the defending NFC champion Carolina Panthers and quarterback Cam Newton.
This is going to be a hell of a battle on the defensive side of the ball.
Both teams will be without their No. 1 running backs, however, as Vikings running back Adrian Peterson could miss the season with a meniscus tear, and Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury.
Expect this to be low-scoring.
Injury Updates
As mentioned above, the Vikings will be without Peterson for this one and for the foreseeable future. Not only Peterson, but they will have to play this one without defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd—he has a knee injury.
Stewart is the only notable injury for the Panthers, per the injury report.
Fantasy Fixtures
Vikings
The Panthers are giving up the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers, but that's not stopping me from assigning the must-start title to wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Bradford will look for him early and often, and Diggs will rack up the catches. If you're not in a points-per-reception league, Diggs is tougher to play, but he is a definite must-play in PPR leagues.
Panthers
Regardless of matchup, Newton is always a guy you need to play. With Stewart out, the depth behind him is pedestrian. He will be the team's leading running back in this one and could well have a goal-line score in this one.
Let's see him hop over the pile again.
Sleepers and Streamers
Again, sleepers from the skill positions are tough to find, but like the Broncos and Bengals, both of these defenses are great plays in what could be the lowest-scoring game on the docket.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Washington Redskins at New York Giants
8 of 14
Game Preview
In their first divisional matchup of the season, the Washington Redskins will be on the road against the New York Giants.
Both teams feature high-profile rookie wide receivers. For the Redskins, it's Josh Doctson, their first-round draft choice; and for the Giants, it's Sterling Shepard, who has made his presence known in his short time in the league.
This game will also feature the second matchup of Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Redskins cornerback Josh Norman.
Norman, who was a Carolina Panther in 2015, squared off with Beckham last season, which resulted in a bevy of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and, let's be honest, fantastic television.
Norman got the best of Beckham in the first matchup, with Beckham dropping a long touchdown pass.
Things should be different this time.
Injury Updates
Doctson is questionable for the Redskins with a lingering Achilles injury but was limited in practice this past Friday. As a result, he has been ruled a late scratch, according to Kimberly Jones of NFL Network.
Surprisingly, Giants running back Rashad Jennings has been ruled out, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He was thought of as a lock to play leading up to the game, but he is indeed out.
Fantasy Fixtures
Redskins
Tight end Jordan Reed. No matter what.
Giants
The Norman vs. Beckham saga doesn't scare me here. Last year, Beckham let Norman get inside his head. Not this time. Beckham will light him up with a score.
Sleepers and Streamers
The pass-catching backs for both teams are sleeper plays here.
For the Redskins, that's Chris Thompson, and for the Giants, it's Shane Vereen.
Both the Redskins and Giants have given up 10 receptions to the position this season.
Thompson is coming off a 57-yard receiving performance in Week 2.
With Jennings out, Vereen will be thrust in as the lead back, getting the majority of the carries. Factor that in with his pass-catching ability, and he should be in for a great week.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Los Angeles Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
9 of 14
Game Preview
The second of the "West Coast teams traveling to the East Coast" games features the Los Angeles Rams on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Both teams are coming off different Week 2 games.
The Arizona Cardinals dismantled the Buccaneers, whereas the Rams squeaked out a 9-3 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
For the Rams, they have yet to score a touchdown in any format this season and have scored a total of nine points.
They'll need more than that if they want to keep pace with the electric Bucs.
Injury Updates
The Buccaneers will be without their lead tailback in Doug Martin due to a hamstring injury that will sideline the second-leading rusher last season.
In addition to Martin, the Buccaneers will be without pass-rushing veteran Robert Ayers, who has an ankle injury.
Fantasy Fixtures
Rams
Due to a terrible supporting cast, running back Todd Gurley has yet to make any damage this season. With that said, you cannot sit him—he's bound to break out at some point.
Everyone else on the Rams stinks.
Buccaneers
Wide receiver Mike Evans scored the team's lone touchdown last week. He'll have a tough matchup against Rams defensive back Trumaine Johnson, but Winston will look to his No. 1 option all game long. Expect Evans to be targeted double-digit times in this one.
Not only Evans, but running back Charles Sims needs to be started this week if you have him. In PPR leagues, his pass-catching ability makes him a must-start, especially when you factor in Martin being out and the extra carries he will receive. You need to start Sims, who averaged five yards per carry in 2015.
Sleepers and Streamers
After getting embarrassed in Week 1, the Rams defense held the Seahawks to just three points. It's possible they slow down the high-flying Buccaneers in this one, but don't count on it. This makes them a sleeper pick.
With a report from Tampa Bay Times' Greg Auman that Sims and fellow running back Jacquizz Rodgers could split work, Rodgers is a deep sleeper in deep leagues. However, Sims should carry the load in this one.
Fantasy Football Week 3: San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
10 of 14
Game Preview
Just a few years ago, this was a fun divisional matchup to watch.
Now? Well, who knows? It could still be a close game.
In Week 3, the Seattle Seahawks will host the San Francisco 49ers. The Seahawks offense has been hampered with the injury to quarterback Russell Wilson. The Seahawks defense will go up against a 49ers offense that has no issue scoring the ball this season, averaging 27.5 points per game.
However, the Niners face a tough Seahawks defense that has allowed only 10 and nine points in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively.
If Gabbert struggles, could we see backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick?
Injury Updates
The Seahawks will without rookie offensive tackle Germain Ifedi once again and will need to wait at least another week for his debut.
On the offense, the Seahawks will likely be without running back Thomas Rawls, who has been dealing with a leg contusion.
Fantasy Fixtures
49ers
As far as must-start players, no one stands out on the 49ers roster against a stingy Seahawks defense.
Seahawks
Running back Christine Michael is a definite must-play, especially with the absence of Rawls. This season, C-Mike is averaging five yards per carry on 25 carries but has yet to find the end zone.
Although the 49ers give up the fourth-least fantasy points to opposing running backs, it's fluky given their shutout in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Michael is a legitimate RB2 with 20-plus carry upside.
Sleepers and Streamers
We could see some easy dump-offs from 49ers quarterback Blaine Gabbert, and the player on the receiving end will be running back Shaun Draughn. He is a low-end flex play with potential to see six or seven targets.
You'll want to stream/start the Seattle defense in this one. The unit should handle Gabbert and Co.
Fantasy Football Week 3: New York Jets at Kansas City Chiefs
11 of 14
Game Preview
This should be a good one.
The Kansas City Chiefs will host the 1-1 New York Jets. Gang Green are coming off a rousing defeat over their division rival Buffalo Bills and look to keep it going against the 1-1 Chiefs, who are coming off a defeat against the Houston Texans.
However, the Jets could be without their No. 1 wide receiver in Brandon Marshall.
Going up against a 2.5-point home favorite, the Jets should cover this one, even though they're on the road in a tough place to play.
Injury Updates
As already mentioned, the Jets could be without Marshall, who was a limited participant in practice on Friday with a knee injury, per the injury report.
The Chiefs will most likely be without veteran running back Jamaal Charles once again, who has yet to make his season debut. Other than Charles, the Chiefs will be without starting offensive guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardiff and starting cornerback Phillip Gaines, who was a late addition to the injury report. If he is out, that hurts the Chiefs' secondary and pass defense.
Fantasy Fixtures
Jets
With Marshall possibly being absent, you need to start fellow wide receiver Eric Decker. Even if Marshall plays, Decker is a must-start. Over his last 18 games, he has a receiving touchdown and/or 80 yards receiving. The man just scores touchdowns. All. The. Time.
In the backfield, running back Matt Forte will look to have his way with a Chiefs defense that has given up the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs, as well as two touchdowns on the ground and one through the air.
With virtually no one behind him taking any amount of work, Forte will see a ton of work. He's an RB1 this week.
Chiefs
It's tough to go against running back Spencer Ware, especially with Charles continuing to be out.
In his last two games, Ware has more than 100 total yards in each and is a legitimate factor in the passing game with quarterback Alex Smith behind center.
Keep riding Ware.
Sleepers and Streamers
Again, Marshall could miss this game. Besides Decker, the wide receiver who will step into the main starting role will be Quincy Enunwa. His performance through the first two games doesn't exactly make him a sleeper, but you should look to start him. He has two touchdowns already this season on 13 receptions.
For the Chiefs, I'll go with wide receiver Albert Wilson. Teams against the Jets have attempted passes of 20-plus yards 11 times. While it's not his game, if Smith has a look downfield, Wilson could catch a deep ball or two. Darrelle Revis has had trouble covering deep threats so far this season. Again, Wilson is a Hail Mary deep sleeper.
Fantasy Football Week 3: San Diego Chargers at Indianapolis Colts
12 of 14
Game Preview
In a battle of two great quarterbacks, the Indianapolis Colts will host the San Diego Chargers.
The Colts have been putrid on defense so far this year, whereas the Chargers have lost two key skill position players in running back Danny Woodhead and wide receiver Keenan Allen.
This should be a high-scoring game. In the end, the Chargers should upset the Colts. They are just not a good team.
Injury Updates
Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa is out another week, and veteran tight end Antonio Gates is listed as doubtful. With Gates out, rookie tight end Hunter Henry will get the start.
The Colts are dealing with some tough injuries. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is listed as questionable after not practicing Friday, but he should play. Fellow wide receiver Donte Moncrief will miss four to six weeks with a fractured scapula. Lastly, cornerback Vontae Davis is listed as a questionable, despite being a full participant in practice Friday. Davis should suit up for the first time this year.
Fantasy Fixtures
Chargers
With Woodhead out for the season, fellow running back Melvin Gordon will get a ton of work. The Colts give up 32 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Must I say more?
Panthers
Although he is on the injury report, Hilton will play and be the overwhelming No. 1 option with Moncrief out—you need to play him.
Quarterback Andrew Luck will need to throw to keep pace. Even with Moncrief out, Luck should still throw multiple touchdowns in this one, as he will need to keep up with Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. The Chargers give up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.
Sleepers and Streamers
With Allen out with a torn ACL, deep threat and fellow wide receiver Tyrell Williams will assume the role as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Travis Benjamin. With Davis likely shadowing Benjamin, Williams could find himself open downfield.
Behind Hilton will be second-year wide receiver Phillip Dorsett. Even with Moncrief in the lineup, Dorsett has performed well, specifically in Week 1 when he had nearly 100 receiving yards. He'll get more looks this week with Chargers cornerback Jason Verrett following Hilton.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles
13 of 14
Game Preview
In the battle of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Eagles will host their interstate rival Pittsburgh Steelers.
Through his first two games of his NFL career, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has yet to turn the ball over and is 2-0. However, it has come against the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears.
Will he fare the same against the Steelers and their high-octane offense? Probably not.
Injury Updates
The visiting Steelers will be without starting offensive guard Ramon Foster, which doesn't help against Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox and Co.
For the Eagles, they will be without starting tight end Zach Ertz for a second consecutive game.
Fantasy Fixtures
Steelers
Wide receiver Antonio Brown. If you require analysis, well, I'm sorry, but you're not going to get it here.
Running back DeAngelo Williams is a stud with Le'Veon Bell out of the lineup. With Bell back next week, Williams will let it rip this week against the Eagles.
Eagles
While I'm not thrilled with the matchup, it's hard to deny the volume that running back Ryan Mathews will see. If the Eagles fall behind and are forced to throw, Mathews' role could diminish. However, he has scored three times this year. The Steelers don't have a tough defense, so Mathews could make it three games in a row with a score.
Sleepers and Streamers
The Steelers defense is a deep sleeper and decent guaranteed prize pool option in daily fantasy sports this week. Wentz has yet to turn the ball over, but it's not out of the realm of possibility to see a pick-six in this one. Again, it's a long shot, but it could pay off.
The Steelers have been targeted 23 times when it comes to opposing tight ends. With Ertz out, fellow tight end Trey Burton will look to make it two games in a row with a touchdown. The Eagles want to get him involved. I'm starting him in a couple leagues of this week in a game where Wentz is going to have to cut it loose.
Fantasy Football Week 3: Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys
14 of 14
Game Preview
This isn't what NBC had in mind for Sunday Night Football. You know, Chicago Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Nonetheless, this is your Sunday night game and the second week in a row the Bears are on prime time.
Look, the Bears are not going to win this game. They're on the road at Dallas, and Chicago can't rely on Hoyer to win the game, especially with all the holes on the roster.
Prescott and Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott will handle the Bears in this one.
Injury Updates
The Bears have a ton of injuries heading into this one. Of course, with Hoyer set to start, usual starter Jay Cutler is out with a thumb injury. Besides him, there are several defensive injuries, per the injury report. In their front seven, the Bears will be without nose tackle Eddie Goldman, according to Chris Emma of CBS Chicago. Linebacker Danny Trevathan is also out, and they could also be without cornerback Kyle Fuller, who was limited in practice Friday and is listed questionable. Plus, cornerback Bryce Callahan is dealing with a concussion.
Lastly, Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is listed as questionable, but he should play in this one—he's always banged up.
Fantasy Fixtures
Bears
Regardless of who's playing quarterback, Jeffery is a must-start. Yes, he's always banged up, and you worry about that, but he is just on another level. Hoyer will need to throw, and he's shown in the past he's not afraid to throw deep. Jeffery will be his go-to guy in this one.
Cowboys
When the Cowboys take a lead, they'll rely on Elliott in this one. Twenty-plus carries from Elliott equals a lot of fantasy points—something I'd want to be a part of in Week 3. Start him and don't look back.
Sleepers and Streamers
To this point, Bears tight end Zach Miller has yet to make a dent in the stat sheet. However, the Cowboys have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to tight ends so far this year, and with Hoyer at the helm, he could look to use his tight end often. Given how little he's been used this season, Miller is a deep sleeper but someone to keep an eye on nonetheless.
Going up against Hoyer and a sad Bears squad, the Cowboys defense could create a couple of turnovers and keep the score low. The only player Dallas needs to worry about is Jeffery, but other than that, the Cowboys will win this handily.
