Week 14 NFL Picks: Upsets Again or Did You Already Know?

Thomas MorelandDec 6, 2009

The Miami Dolphins ran their record to 6-6 and are now in the play-off hunt, as they had a gritty win against New England at home on a beautiful, 76 degree, day for football in Miami.

The Dolphins are in Jacksonville to face the hot 7-5 Jaguars whom Jack Del Rio has believing in themselves. With Maurice Jones Drew, you are always in the game, it seems. Take the home team in this hard fought close game.

The Steelers have lost four in a row, and severely damaged their play-off hopes in 2009.This week they have Cleveland however, and the skid ends here. 6-7 and outside looking in after this one, I'm afraid. 9-7 will not cut it.

New Orleans, after a scare in Washington, takes on Atlanta, who is a far better team. Atlanta is backed against the wall at 6-6 and this is a must win. Expect a good game.

I like Atlanta to end this winning streak this week, and probably take a little pressure off New Orleans who has defensive issues to deal with.

Minnesota is at home, and might be 11-1, playing the Cincinnati Bengals, who at 9-3 are cruising towards the playoffs also. Great quarterback match-ups, good running backs, and good defense. Grab some popcorn and enjoy this one.

Vikings by a field goal.

The reeling New England Patriots have the Panthers in cold New England. The Patriots will not lose three in a row. This happens very rarely, with a Belichek team.

Baltimore will win and stay in the wild-card hunt with a victory in Detroit. This is a good lucky draw for Baltimore to stay on a winning track.

Kansas City is pretty tough at home, plus I think Matt Cassell can beat these Buffalo guys. K.C wins to reach a fabulous 4-9. Buffalo also is at 4-9 after this.

Houston is becoming the same old sad song team, as they virtually gave away the game last week to Jacksonville. They should beat Seattle to reach 6-7. 9-7 is an iffy play-off situation this season. Can Houston win out? Probably not.

The Raiders beat the Steelers? Are we in 1974?   The Raiders have Washington at home, and I believe!!!!   I pick the Raiders for the maybe the second time this season?

The Green Bay Packers have a shot to be 9-4 with a win here. That is if they win Monday night against the Ravens at home in Lambeau Field. Which I have picked them to do.

The Packers are better than the Bears. Plain and simple.

The Titans can reach 6-7 with a win against the Rams, which they will do. The Rams suck.

Dallas has a whole lot of defense to play in this one, as the Phillip Rivers show comes to Jerry town to play the Cowboys. I like the Cowboy fade to continue here.Take San Diego in a high flying affair.

The Giants have the Eagles after playing the Cowboys last week. Who makes these schedules anyway. haha. The Giants will surprise everyone with another win. It worked last week, so I ll go with it.

Well. Here's a real good one. Indianapolis has a visit from the Broncos in December. Three Peyton Manning commercials as the Colts kick the Broncos bucking back to Denver.

The Jets have a challenge and are not letting up.  They visit Tampa Bay and a team that beat the soon to be 7-5 or 8-4 Packers.

This might be a bad day for a certain rookie quarterback, trying to show up the other rookie quarterback.  We will see much of Thomas Jones and short precise routes from the Jets receivers. The second half will see a couple of downfield passes from Sanchez as they pull away.

I like the Jets to also keep the AFC East race tight.

On Monday Night Football, the San Francisco Forty-Niners have a chance to gain on Arizona in a game at home. They won the earlier meeting, so psychogically they may have an advantage at home.

Mike Singletary, get the defense ready. I'm picking San Francisco.

I am currently 128-62 and well ahead of last years pace of 80 games over 500.

Good luck to all of your teams.
