Peyton Manning, Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders' Post-Week 10 Fantasy Advice

Danny WebsterNov 15, 2015

Well, that escalated quickly. The Denver Broncos lost, 29-13, to the Kansas City Chiefs at home, and Peyton Manning got benched.

This has been a banner day if you have any Broncos playmakers on your fantasy team. And if Manning was your starting quarterback, condolences to you.

Let's take a look at post-fantasy advice for Manning and two of his favorite targets, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.

Peyton Manning

Not sure if it was only a matter of time before Manning would have one of these kinds of games, but surely being benched for Brock Osweiler was never a thought that came to mind.

But that happened. One of the greatest quarterbacks of this generation was benched for Osweiler after completing only five passes and throwing four interceptions.

Let that sink in for a moment: Manning threw one less interception than he did completions. He also completed only 25 percent of his passes and threw for 35 yards. If you're reading this, you had more fantasy points than the great Manning on this day.

Long gone are Manning's days of being a QB1 option, and after today, QB2 is out the window. The interceptions have become a killer for him. The Broncos have found ways to win even with Manning's mistakes, but the defense has finally come back to Earth with DeMarcus Ware's back injury and a possible suspension for safety T.J. Ward looming due his punching Jeremy Maclin.

Manning hasn't been great all year. This week finally ended any hope that he can turn his season around. It's time to move on from Peyton if he's your quarterback.

Demaryius Thomas

In an offense that's been inconsistent all year, Thomas has been as big of a security blanket for Manning as one can be.

Thomas has caught at least five passes in every game this year and had seven grabs for 71 yards in Denver's 16-point loss. Even though the quarterback situation has not been stellar, Thomas continues to be consistent, and he shows why he's worth that $70 million contract he signed this past summer.

He's on pace for a 100-catch season, showing just how valuable Thomas has been this year. Regardless of who the quarterback is going forward, Manning or Osweiler will be relieved knowing they have a target like Thomas to throw the ball to.

Keep Thomas in your lineups, because his talent alone is going to make a difference for the Broncos and your fantasy lineups.

Emmanuel Sanders

One week after a six-catch performance that included a touchdown, Sanders had goose eggs in almost every category but targets.

Sanders was targeted four times on Sunday but didn't record a single catch or yard against the Chiefs. It was the first time since Dec. 16, 2012 that Sanders went without a catch.

Overall, it's been an up-and-down year for Sanders. He had back-to-back 100-yard games before the Broncos' bye week in Week 7, but he has now caught only eight passes in his last three games with one touchdown.

Sanders' big-play ability makes him a reliable threat in fantasy, but use him with caution. This up-and-down trend he's on right now doesn't fare well going forward. And if Osweiler is the quarterback going forward, it's uncertain whether he'll look more to Sanders as he would Thomas, for example.

Using Sanders as a flex option would not be a bad play if options aren't available on your bench or the waiver wire, but use him wisely depending on the matchup.
