Terrell Owens: Which Teams Could Have T.O. in Their Sights?

Kyle VassaloNov 27, 2011

Terrell Owens reportedly has one team "very interested," according to ESPN. While the team is choosing not to expose their identity, there aren't many places T.O. could logically end up.

Any team willing to take a gamble on a nearly 38-year-old receiver coming off major knee surgery would have to have a serious need at wide receiver.

To figure out who is interested in T.O., it's probably easier sorting through who doesn't want him.

Here are the teams who are highly unlikely to pursue him. Owens has burned a bridge with all of his former teams, perhaps with the exception of Buffalo. Citing "former team" as a reason for their disinterest is valid.

No need doesn't mean necessarily that they couldn't use him; it means they don't have a great enough need to justify bringing him in.

That certainly chops down the list of prospective suitors. Here are the teams who could make a move a for T.O.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins need a possession receiver that can move the chains and help whatever worthless quarterback they toss into their lineup. Santana Moss and T.O. would have been the best tandem in the game seven years ago, and while they aren't that now, T.O. would be immediately upgrade their wide Receiver corp.

Larry Fitzgerald is an elite receiver, but the Cardinals could use a guy to go opposite him and take some of the heat off of him. Inserting Owens into the lineup with Fitzgerald and Doucet could make up for their pathetic quarterback situation.

St. Louis Rams

The Rams took a shot and brought in Brandon Lloyd, but Sam Bradford needs even more help. Owens would be the No. 2 there and help keep the Rams from being the worst team in the worst division in football.

The Broncos are winning without a passing game, but they might eventually want to start throwing the ball. They have one of the more talented groups of receivers on this list, but they could certainly use Owens to fill the void Lloyd left.

Jay Cutler going down means the Bears need to overcompensate by injecting some talent into their heinous receiving corps. Matt Forte can't do it all, and the lack of talent on offense is going to be exposed without Cutler.

The Browns are missing a playmaker. Owens could come in and be their No. 1 receiver from day one. Rookie Greg Little has been overly impressive, but having a veteran like T.O. would do wonders for their passing game.

The Jaguars have the worst passing offense in the league. Their lack of receivers is a huge contributing factor to their struggles through the air, and adding Owens would provide rookie Blaine Gabbert with a guy who can actually catch the football.
