NFL Power Rankings: Indianapolis Colts and the 5 Worst NFL Teams

Zach KruseOct 10, 2011

With one game left on the NFL's Week 5 schedule, here are the five worst teams in our Week 6 Power Rankings.

Monday night's game between the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears shouldn't factor into the "worst teams" talk:

Jacksonville has been outscored by 58 points during their current four-game losing streak, and the team ranks dead last in passing yards per game (150), in an aerially dominated NFL.

A castoff in Luke McCown and a rookie in Blaine Gabbert are to blame for that slow start through the air, but it's unlikely if the Jags will ever pull themselves out of the basement in that category this season.

The upcoming schedule doesn't look good for Jacksonville, either. They get Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Houston in consecutive weeks.

The Cardinals look unprepared and uninterested in playing football for the better part of the first half, and a handful of turnovers led to 28 first quarter points for the Vikings.

There's simply no excuse for a professional football team to play the way the Cardinals did during the first 15 minutes.

Like the Jags, the Cardinals have now lost four in a row since winning their Week 1 game. This team has lost some heartbreaking games, but Sunday wasn't one of them. They got outplayed by a team that hadn't won a game in the 2011 season, and by a wide margin.

30. Miami Dolphins (0-4)

The Dolphins got a bye this week, which is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Starting quarterback Chad Henne was lost for the season to a shoulder injury, and Matt Moore needs the first team reps to get ready to start the rest of 2011. There was a lot of talk about bringing in a veteran quarterback to replace Henne, but Sage Rosenfels was the best the Dolphins could find, according to NFL.com.

They face the Jets on Monday Night Football next week, which is their last chance to start a rebound this season.

It looked as if Curtis Painter and the Colts were going to breeze to their first win of 2011 on Sunday, but the Chiefs had other ideas.

After falling down 17-0 on the road in Indy, Kansas City stormed back with two scores before the half then two more in the final 30 minutes to stun the lowly Colts.

Painter gives Indianapolis some hope moving forward, but this team simply isn't going to win many games in 2011. Choking away a winnable game like Sunday's only lessens the morale.

32. St. Louis Rams (0-4)

The Rams stay in the basement even though they had the week off. The Colts made a serious case for this spot, but no team in the NFL has played worse than the Rams this season.

St. Louis is averaging a little more than 11 points a game on offense, and only the Chiefs have a wider point discrepancy this season (minus 67). To make matters worse, the Rams get a trip to Lambeau Field to take on the undefeated Packers right out of their bye.

The vacation is going to end in a hurry for the NFL's worst team.
