Fantasy Football Rankings: Week 2 Big Board
You might be someone resisting our advice to move third-year quarterback Andrew Luck into the elite class of fantasy quarterback. You were wrong in Week 1, and you're going to be wrong in Week 2 if you stay that course.
Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts play the way you want your fantasy passer to play: little in the run game, a porous defense and spreading the ball around to a number of dangerous weapons. Sprinkle in the way the Philadelphia Eagles play, and you have fantasy utopia.
We rank Luck the No. 1 player, at least temporarily, as we present Bleacher Report's Week 2 Big Board.
You can use these rankings to weigh your options on starters or gear up for your daily fantasy football lineups, drafts and rosters. These rankings represent our prediction for the highest scorers by position, relative to their use, game plan, health and matchup.
Top 100: Expect an Epic Monday Night Shootout in Indianapolis
1 of 7It used to be Monday Night Football had the most entertaining game of the week. We are going to get a new-wave treat in Week 2 when the helter-skelter Philadelphia Eagles travel to face Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.
Both teams play shoddy defense and used their potent offenses to rally from behind a week ago. This one could climb could over 60 total points, making it a fantasy bonanza at the buzzer in the final game of the week.
Nick Foles' Eagles became the "first team in NFL history to win by 17-plus points (34-17) after being shut out and trailing by 17-plus points at halftime," according to the NFL. The Colts almost erased a 24-point deficit on the road at the Denver Broncos.
Expect the Colts to be far more consistent throughout at home, with the Eagles not backing down through the second half. You are going to want to stay up for this one, particularly with so many fantasy starters between the teams in lineups this week.
This promising barn burner puts Luck as our No. 1 player in fantasy football here, with Foles also in the top 10 in our Week 2 Top 100:

Quarterbacks: Location and Matchups Can Make or Break Your Options
2 of 7We are going to find out how much location and matchup means to a fantasy football player this week. Matt Ryan looked like a future Hall of Famer against the New Orleans Saints at home in a shootout, but he and the Atlanta Falcons travel to Cincinnati to take on one of the NFL's better defenses.
Odds are Ryan doesn't set the fantasy world ablaze again.
After his franchise-record 448 yards with three touchdown passes and 128.8 passer rating, you just cannot sit him anywhere.
On the other side of the ledger, Aaron Rodgers comes off his disappointing Week 1 performance in a snakes nest at Seattle and will face a much more favorable matchup at home against a banged-up and young New York Jets secondary. The Jets allowed rookie Derek Carr to throw for two touchdowns to no interceptions. Rodgers might go for 400 yards and five TDs here.
And, forget about questioning starting either Andrew Luck or Nick Foles in their Monday Night Football matchup, as we wrote in the Top 100 slide. Those two teams might combine for 10 TDs.
Expect another big week for the quarterbacks. Here are our Week 2 rankings of the position:
| Rank | Quarterbacks | Team | Opponent | ECR | vs. ECR |
| 1 | Andrew Luck | IND | vs. Phi | 4 | +3 |

Running Backs: Opening Weekend Managed to Make a Mess of Things Here
3 of 7You might think the loss of Ray Rice for the season, if not his career, hurts the overall fantasy running backs pool. It actually increases the options.
We weren't going to have Rice as a Week 2 option anyway, but now we can see fantasy owners starting Justin Forsett, Bernard Pierce or perhaps even Lorenzo Taliaferro in lineups for Thursday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is addition by subtraction and fantasy supply and demand.
"Bernard Pierce, Justin Forsett—they'll both play a lot," head coach John Harbaugh told ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley. "Lorenzo Taliaferro will be a big part of it, too."
Sounds like a mess, but at least it gives three players potential points for fantasy owners.
"I'm ready to seize the moment," Forsett told Hensley. "My job is to go out and perform when my number is called. I'm excited about [the] opportunity. Hopefully [there will] be some great things to come on Thursday night."
All of the running back timeshares around the NFL right now make for some confusing decisions. We made sense of the Ravens' situation in Bleacher Report's Insider Notebook on Tuesday, but here is a complete look at how to settle disputes about your starters:

Wide Receivers: Calvin Johnson's Status over 2013 No. 1 Josh Gordon Is Safe
4 of 7We might be wasting inches—the old newspaper measurement for stories—here, but ESPNCleveland.com keeps feeding the beast, with Tony Grossi writing, "reinstatement of suspended Browns WR Josh Gordon is no longer if but when."
Grossi follows up that inflammatory headline with this pearl: "The Browns never emptied Josh Gordon’s locker. ... What does that tell you?"
For our Week 2 rankings below, not a darn thing.
Gordon will not appear there until something concrete emerges. Right now it is all wishful thinking. We have to deal with the players who are in uniform—to steal the go-to phrase in coachspeak—not the players whose jerseys merely hang unworn in a locker.
Here are the wide receivers you should care about in fantasy for Week 2, with a footnote we get Dwayne Bowe of the Kansas City Chiefs back from suspension:

Tight Ends: Julius Thomas' Opener Trumps His 2013 Breakthrough
5 of 7
We cannot be sure Julius Thomas will stay healthy for a full season—or that Rob Gronkowski will make it through Week 2—but it sure looks like we have some company for Jimmy Graham atop the tight end rankings right now.
Thomas tied a Denver Broncos team record with three touchdowns in the season opener Sunday night, per the NFL, one year after exploding onto the fantasy scene with a pair of touchdowns in last year's first game.
"I still have so much [to] learn," Thomas told Troy E. Renck of The Denver Post.
Scary.
Gronk has some catching up to do, but at least he was able to return from his reconstructive knee surgery and register a touchdown. Graham, Thomas and Gronk make for some of the few easy choices at the tight end position in our Week 2 rankings:

Defense/Special Teams: Go Back to the Bucs Against Shaun Hill's Rams
6 of 7
Our preseason defense/special teams breakout, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, didn't necessarily get the job done against the Cam Newton-less Carolina Panthers last week, but the good news is we can go back to the well there again.
The Bucs don't stop here.
Quarterback Shaun Hill and the woe-be-gone St. Louis Rams come to town.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher told Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch the struggling Hill will start at Tampa Bay if he is healthy after leaving Week 1 with a strained quad, per NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.
Facing a banged-up and struggling quarterback in a home game is exactly what you want out of your fantasy D/ST.
We rank the Bucs No. 1 to the Seattle Seahawks in our Week 2 rankings:

Kickers: Caleb Sturgis Emerges as One of Fantasy's Better Options
7 of 7
You might not be impressed with the Miami Dolphins' victory over the New England Patriots, remaining skeptical they can sustain that kind of performance this season, but you shouldn't be skeptical of their second-year kicker, Caleb Sturgis. He is one of fantasy football's burgeoning stars at the position.
Sturgis tied the Cincinnati Bengals' Mike Nugent for the top kicker performance in Week 1, making the Dolphin one of the regular starters at the position most fantasy owners consider an afterthought.
Here are our kicker rankings for Week 2:
| Rank | Kickers | Team | Opponent | ECR | vs. ECR |
| 1 | Stephen Gostkowski | NE | at Min | 1 | 0 |
| 2 | Steven Hauschka | Sea | at SD | 2 | 0 |
