Fantasy Football Week 7 Rankings: Top 10 Players at Every Position

0 of 6

Week 6 of the 2011 NFL season brought with it loads of thrills and excitement, including the Detroit Lions being knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten, by the San Francisco 49ers, and two head coaches nearly coming to blows after the game.

However, much like San Francisco 49ers head coach, Jim Harbaugh, and Detroit head man, Jim Schwartz, fantasy football owners have to ease off celebrating a big win or shake off a frustrating defeat and look ahead to next week's games.

With that in mind, here's an early gander at the top 10 fantasy football plays for Week 7 at each position.

1. Aaron Rodgers and the Top 10 Quarterbacks

1 of 6

It was just another day at the office last Sunday for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who torched the St. Louis Rams for 310 yards and three touchdown passes. With a matchup upcoming against a Minnesota Vikings team that just made Chicago Bears signal-caller Jay Cutler look good, Rodgers—the seventh-year veteran—is easily the top fantasy play at his position for Week 7.

1.) Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (at MIN)

2.) Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (vs. WAS)

3.) Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (vs.IND)

4.) Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (vs. ATL)

5.) Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (at NYJ)

6.) Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (vs. STL)

7.) Matt Schaub, Houston Texans (at TEN)

8.) Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers (at ARI)

9.) Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears (at TB)

10.) Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons (at DET)

2. Darren McFadden and the Top 10 Running Backs

2 of 6

Running back Darren McFadden of the Oakland Raiders had another strong game in Oakland's win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday, averaging 4.6 yards a carry and scoring his fourth touchdown of the season. With starting quarterback Jason Campbell out for the season with a broken collarbone, the Raiders will lean on McFadden even more heavily than before, beginning this week against the Kansas City Chiefs.

1.) Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders (vs. KC)

2.) Matt Forte, Chicago Bears (at TB)

3.) Arian Foster, Houston Texans (at TEN)

4.) Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens (at JAX)

5.) Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings (vs. GB)

6.) Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans (vs. HOU)

7.) Rashard Mendenhall, Pittsburgh Steelers (at ARI)

8.) Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers (at NYJ)

9.) Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams (at DAL)

10.) Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. BAL)

3. Calvin Johnson and the Top 10 Wide Receivers

3 of 6

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was held out of the end zone for the first time this season in Week 6, but the fifth-year veteran still managed to reel in seven catches for 113 yards. With a matchup on tap against an Atlanta Falcons squad that has allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts, "Megatron" is the top fantasy play at wide receiver for the upcoming week.

1.) Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions (vs. ATL)

2.) Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers (at MIN)

3.) Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers (vs. WAS)

4.) Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals (vs. PIT)

5.) Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys (vs. STL)

6.) Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs (at OAK)

7.) Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons (at DET)

8.) Sidney Rice, Seattle Seahawks (at CLE)

9.) Vincent Jackson, San Diego Chargers (at NYJ)

10.) Miles Austin, Dallas Cowboys (vs. STL)

4. Jimmy Graham and the Top 10 Tight Ends

4 of 6

Jimmy Graham became the first player in New Orleans Saints history to log four consecutive 100 yard receiving games with his seven catch, 124 yards effort in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday. When the second year tight end squares off with an Indianapolis Colts team this Sunday night, that's susceptible to passes over the middle, he'll be the cream of the fantasy crop at his position for Week 7.

1.) Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints (vs. IND)

2.) Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys (vs. STL)

3.) Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers (at MIN)

4.) Owen Daniels, Houston Texans (at TEN)

5.) Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons (at DET)

6.) Brandon Pettigrew, Detroit Lions (vs. ATL)

7.) Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers (vs. WAS)

8.) Fred Davis, Washington Redskins (at CAR)

9.) Dallas Clark, Indianapolis Colts (at NO)

10.) Kellen Winslow, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. CHI)

5. Sebastian Janikowski and the Top 10 Kickers

5 of 6

After carefully consulting tea leaves, chicken bones, a Ouija board, speaking to a medium and tossing 10 darts blindfolded, I still have no idea who the best fantasy kicker in Week 7 will be. But, Sebastian Janikowski of the Oakland Raiders has a favorable matchup, and is as good a guess as any, so he's the top fantasy kicker play this week.

1.) Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders (vs. KC)

2.) Jason Hanson, Detroit Lions (vs. ATL)

3.) Neil Rackers, Houston Texans (at TEN)

4.) John Kasay, New Orleans Saints (vs. IND)

5.) Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers (at MIN)

6.) Shaun Suisham, Pittsburgh Steelers (at ARI)

7.) Robbie Gould, Chicago Bears (at TB)

8.) Dan Bailey, Dallas Cowboys (vs. STL)

9.) Nick Novak, San Diego Chargers (at NYJ)

10.) Rob Bironas, Tennessee Titans (vs. HOU)

6. Pittsburgh Steelers and the Top 10 Team Defenses

6 of 6

For the second consecutive week the Pittsburgh Steelers defense has a very favorable matchup, this time around with error-prone quarterback Kevin Kolb and the reeling Arizona Cardinals, in the desert. So for the second consecutive week, the Pittsburgh Steelers headline the top fantasy team defense plays for this Sunday.

    1.) Pittsburgh Steelers (at ARI)

    2.) Baltimore Ravens (at JAC)

3.) Green Bay Packers (at MIN)

4.) New Orleans Saints (vs. IND)

    5.) Dallas Cowboys (vs. STL)

6.) San Diego Chargers (at NYJ)

    7.) Detroit Lions (vs. ATL)

8.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. CHI)

    9.) Denver Broncos (at MIA)

    10.) Seattle Seahawks (at CLE)
