Fantasy Football: Best 'Buy Low' Opportunities After Week 2
Okay fantasy owner, it's crunch time. One more day until the next set of games commence and you lose out on buying low on some great players who struggled in week 2. Take a look at this list of 'Buy Low' opportunity players and see who you can snag from a fellow fantasy owner who has grown worrisome about their struggling talent.
#8 Julio Jones
1 of 8Julio Jones is a premier up and coming talent in this league at the WR position. With his 6'3" frame and lightning speed he proposes a huge challenge for opposing cornerbacks.
Not only does he have the talent but he has the opportunity. Playing in the Falcons high-powered offense lead by a great QB in Matt Ryan and a double coverage attracting machine in Roddy White, Julio Jones definitely will get his chances.
Luckily for you, it seems as if everyone has forgotten about this immense potential and opportunity because we are seeing Julio Jones' stock drop in fantasy leagues everywhere. Take advantage of this deflated value and grab him from an opposing team before it's too late.
#7 Desean Jackson
2 of 8While Desean Jackson may be one of the most exciting players to watch in the NFL (possibly second only to the quarterback throwing him the ball) he watched his stock greatly decrease after week 2.
In a week where Jackson only put up 2 catches for 21 yards, his counter part, Jeremy Maclin, posted a 13-171-2 stat line. This seemingly unbalanced statistical week has caused Desean to be valued lower than he has been in a while. If I were you, I would take advantage of this drop in value before Desean torches the Giants on Sunday and his name is off the market.
#6 Josh Freeman
3 of 8Next on our "Buy Low" list is Josh Freeman. In his first two weeks of play, Freeman has posted similar statistical games of about 250 yards with one touchdown and one interception. These two mediocre weeks of play have caused once excited Freeman owners to begin to doubt their wunderkind draft selection. If I were a fantasy owner in need of a quarterback, I would definitely look in Freeman's direction.
#5 Hakeem Nicks
4 of 8Nicks is the rare person on this list who has yet to put up a poor statistical game. In both week 1 and week 2, Nicks was able to help his fantasy owners by posting at least a touchdown or a solid number of catches and yards (7 for 122 in week 1).
Prior to the season, the young talent was thought to be a tier 1 WR playing for a quarterback who loves to call his number, especially in the red zone. While very little has changed, Nicks seems to be dropping in value in the eyes of many fantasy owners. Snag Nicks from an unexpecting fellow fantasy owner while his tier 1 price tag has been temporarily removed.
#4 Vernon Davis
5 of 8In the minds of fantasy football owners everywhere, the tight end position is struggling. With the doubt of Peyton Manning returning to help Clark get started, and Antonio Gates posting a donut against a weak New England pass defense, owners are getting worried.
Vernon Davis has been another main reason for this positional concern. In the first two weeks of football, Davis has been unable to surpass 50 yards receiving or catch a touchdown pass. But if Vernon Davis has shown us anything in his last two years of playing, it is to never doubt him. Just a season ago he scored 9 touchdowns and in 2009 he crossed the goal line 13 times. Grab him now before the doubters change their minds on Davis yet again.
#3 Mike Williams (TB)
6 of 8Last week Mike Williams had 1 catch for -4 yards in a barn burner against the Vikings. Let me repeat that, 1 catch for -4 yards. It is rare to see any fantasy player post negative fantasy points in a game, and it is even more rare to see it come from a guy like Mike Williams.
And now every Williams owner in the country is questioning their potentially wasted 3rd round draft pick that they thought so highly of before the season started. But I'm here to tell you that it's time to take advantage of their frustration. Grab Williams now for the price of an AJ Green or a Deion Branch and don't look back.
#2 Chris Johnson
7 of 8Now more than ever, fantasy owners are starting to doubt the star that they thought they once knew in Chris Johnson. After back to back dissapointing fantasy weeks to start the season, CJ owners everywhere are starting to question why they selected him over Ray Rice or LeSean McCoy back in August.
Come on guys, has CJ really not shown us enough to believe that he will bounce back and make each previously frustrated owner who traded him away for Fred Jackson lose sleep at night? Snag CJ for a bargain and laugh at your competition when he is lighting up the fantasy scoreboards each Sunday.
#1 Arian Foster
8 of 8Coming in at the number 1 spot for 'Buy Low' opportunity is Arian Foster. A fantasy back who was once valued as a #1 or #2 draft selection in fantasy leagues has fallen out of favor with his disgruntled owners. This frustration is due to the second most hated hamstring in all of sports (Jose Reyes' being the first).
While this nagging injury is nothing to laugh about, there WILL be a point in the season where Arian is back at 100%. If you can handle some uncertainty at the RB position for a couple more weeks, get him for a significantly decreased price. You will not be disappointed when you get to insert this certified stud into your lineup from week 5 to week 16. It may just be the decision that finally wins you that coveted Fantasy Football crown.
