NFL Power Rankings: Will Arian Foster's Return from Injury Have Texans Soaring?

Ryan PhillipsJun 2, 2018

The Houston Texans blasted the Indianapolis Colts 34-7 in Week 1 without their star running back.

If they looked that good without Arian Foster in the lineup, I'm going to go ahead and assume they'll look even better when they get him back.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak has said that Foster won't play against Miami in Week 2 unless he practices this week. However, there is a good chance that the Texans will hold him out either way, seeing as they'll be facing a Dolphins team that was absolutely lit up by the New England Patriots on Monday night.

Houston may not need Foster to dominate Miami's defense.

The Dolphins surrendered 622 yards to the Patriots, including 516 through the air and 106 on the ground.

While Foster may not return from his hamstring injury for a few more weeks, when he does come back, the Texans could be one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL.

After his Week 1 performance, you'd have to assume that Ben Tate will be a part of the team's running game moving forward, even if he just spells Foster from time to time.

Tate ran for 116 yards and a touchdown against the Colts on Sunday and looked perfectly at ease taking first-team carries.

Houston's new 3-4 defensive scheme looked very good in Week 1, even if they were facing a Colts team that looked horrible. Still, it was a vast improvement over any week last season.

With Foster established, Tate emerging and Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson continuing to look like an elite throw-catch combination, Houston's offense is already set.

As soon as Foster is back, things are only going to get better.
