It's been nearly six years since the NFL and its fans found out just how crazy Clinton Portis is.

It was October 2005 when "The Mad Scientist," Portis' first moniker, made his debut.

That week, Portis ran for three touchdowns, and the costumes were here to stay. Even when a losing streak jeopardized the Washington Redskins' chances at making the playoffs in 2005, Portis' teammates begged him to keep up the gag.

He did, and the Redskins made the playoffs. Here are five of his most memorable get-ups. Feel free to comment if I forget some of your favorites.

5. The Mad Scientist

Here's the one that began it all, The Mad Scientist.

The Mad Scientist studied ways to score, and it paid off. He scored three times against the San Francisco 49ers that Sunday.

4. Kid Bro Sweets

The more I look at this picture, the more I laugh.

Kid Bro Sweets was known for making people happy by giving them candy. I'm not sure I'd accept candy from this character.

3. Choo-Choo

Meet Choo-Choo.

Choo-Choo appeared in 2007 as a dance choreographer who helped planned the Redskins' touchdown celebrations.

If this doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will.

2. Dolla Bill

Dolla Bill made his appearance before a game with the Oakland Raiders and claimed to know Warren Sapp.

I'm not sure thats a good thing for Sapp, because I'm pretty sure Dolla Bill is supposed to be a pimp...

1. Sheriff Gonna Getcha

I mean, the picture says it all.

This character appeared in November 2005, complete with a badge, fake glasses and a mullet.
