The Minnesota Vikings Will Not Trade Any Future Draft Picks for a Veteran QB
There have been rumors of the Minnesota Vikings' interest in obtaining Donovan McNabb from the Redskins. I have even heard that Kyle Orton is a possible trade target.
What does it mean for the Vikings and the overall team to trade for a quarterback?
Well first off, it means that the team will be giving up a draft pick, obviously. In translation, this means they will throw away a potential ten year starter or backup for a player they intend to use for half of a season.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I don't know about you but I'm not a fan of this plan for any team, let alone the one I cheer for.
The first flaw in this plan lies in Washington. They have no leverage to demand a trade. McNabb is set to make starter kind of cash and isn't happy there, they in turn don't like him much either. Thus, where is the need to offer anything for the aged QB?
In the case of Orton, the Broncos do have plenty of leverage to orchestrate a trade. In the Vikings' case, however, why take a younger quarterback at a hefty price so he can play half the season before losing his starting job?
Anyone who believes that No. 12 overall pick Christian Ponder isn't going to be starting at some point during next season should rethink things. What is the first thing we know about Leslie Frazier? He likes how Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan all started from day one.
Ponder isn't going to ride the bench for one or two years. He'll be on the bench for twelve games tops.
The Vikings will attempt to sign someone such as Marc Bulger to step in and mentor. But make no mistake; Ponder is the future. Drafts picks are the future to success. And trading for a quarterback is not in the future.
