The Top 10 Super Bowl Contenders Following the 2011 NFL Draft

Michael AkelsonMay 1, 2011

Updated 2011 Super Bowl XLVI Odds

Now that one of the craziest drafts in NFL history is finally in the books, it's time to look ahead to next season (if there is one).

So why not look ahead all the way to February?

That's right, we here at Bleacher Report are already calculating our Super Bowl odds.

I won't babble on here; these are the top 10 teams most likely to win Super Bowl XLVI.

10. Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons went all-in on Julio Jones.

I really thought they needed help on defense, but apparently they thought Julio Jones was the answer for them.

I don't think he pushes them to the Super Bowl, but we will see.

9. San Diego Chargers

Every year that the San Diego Chargers top lists like this, we all think that it will be the year they finally figure it out.

Well, I don't think that any more.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Chargers win the Super Bowl, but I'm not going all in on them this year.

They're ninth, but I will tell you that the key to their success will be Ryan Matthews.

8. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts are fading, but they're not gone just yet.

Some people think Peyton Manning is done; that is entirely untrue.

The man was throwing to guys off the street, and he still put up a pretty good season statistically.

It's a foregone conclusion that the Colts will make the playoffs, so will they sink or swim?

They have the talent to do the latter, but will they have the playoff poise to avoid the former? That remains to be seen.

7. New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints had a great draft this year.

They stole both Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram in Round 1.

This is a team that will only be able to win if its defense limits the points, which it did during that Super Bowl run in 2009.

The offense will score on anyone, but it's up to the defense.

6. New York Jets

As a Packers fan living in New York, I have a chance to experience firsthand how annoying and biased Jets fans can be, so I root against them every chance I get.

But when they had that string of last-minute comebacks last season, I saw something in Mark Sanchez; I saw poise.

The Jets can go as far as the Sanchize takes them, so will it be past the AFC title game this year? It could happen.

5. Pittsburgh Steelers

Last year's Super Bowl challengers have to be favorites going into this year.

The Steelers will return most of their team from last year, but as some of their players continue to get older, you have to wonder how many years they have left.

Pittsburgh is always in contention for the Super Bowl, but in my opinion, they're not even the best team in their division anymore.

4. Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens got one of the steals of the draft in Round 1 when they picked up Jimmy Smith.

He should immediately be a starter in an ailing Baltimore secondary.

Plus, Joe Flacco's another year wiser, and Ray Lewis is ageless.

The Ravens should love their chances at the Super Bowl this season.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

Michael Vick's incredible resurgence last season made the Eagles a trendy midseason Super Bowl pick.

While that never happened, they should be favorites going into this year.

The amount of speed they have on the offensive side of the ball is incredible, and their defense ain't too shabby either.

They could be in play for Nnmadi Asomugha as well, and if they get him, they'll move up to No. 1 on this list.

2. New England Patriots

Every year the New England Patriots have to be Super Bowl favorites.

They have the best coach in football and the best quarterback.

Tom Brady is lethal in the playoffs, and people forget just how good the Patriots were at times last season. Some say their team last year was even better than their 2007 18-1 team.

They continued to get younger on defense during the draft, and their offense will score nearly 30 a game as long as Tom Brady has the reigns.

It's hard to put New England any lower.

1. Green Bay Packers

How could this be anybody but the Packers?

They won the Super Bowl with 15 players on IR, and guess what, those 15 players will be back.

This team literally has no holes, their QB is great, their running backs are very good, their receivers are great, their offensive line is very good, their defensive line is very good, their linebackers are great and their defensive backs are the best in football.

They even have one of the league's best punters (not that they use him much).

If there was a hole on their team last year, it was at kick returner, and they got Randall Cobb in the draft, so that's no longer a problem.

They very well may have both the best offense and best defense in football.

Try to beat this team, I dare you!
