NFL Fantasy Football Week 13: Players To Start This Week

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballDec 3, 2010

If you are looking for an edge on your opponent this week, you can be thankful for our “Fantasy Football Start ‘Ems” for Week 13.

Jay Cutler (Chicago Bears) @ Detroit

Cutler had arguably his best game of the season in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles, throwing for 247 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.

He has been able to avoid turnovers recently, with just three interceptions in his last four games, and will take on the Detroit Lions this week in what should be a favorable matchup.

In Week 1 against the Lions, Cutler threw for a season-high 372 yards along with two touchdowns and one interception. Detroit has allowed 16.8 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season, and has allowed seven touchdown passes while not intercepting a pass over their last two games.

In fact, the Lions have only intercepted two passes over their last six games.  Cutler is a top-10 fantasy option and a solid QB1 this week.

Tomlinson had 13 carries for 49 yards and two catches for 14 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12, which actually ended his streak of four games in a row with at least five receptions.

That could change in Week 13 against the New England Patriots, who have allowed a league-most 82 receptions and a league-high 649 receiving yards to opposing running backs this season.

Shonn Greene has taken more of the workload lately, but Tomlinson should remain a prominent part of the Jets’ passing game this week.

Tomlinson makes for a nice RB2 in standard leagues this week, with slightly more value in PPR leagues.

Santonio Holmes (New York Jets) @ New England

Holmes had five catches for 44 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and now has four touchdowns over the last three games. Holmes also has at least five receptions in four straight contests.

Week 13 brings a favorable matchup on Monday night against the New England Patriots, who have allowed 24.9 fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season and have allowed seven touchdowns to the position over their last three games.

Holmes has emerged as the top target for Jets’ quarterback Mark Sanchez, and that should continue this week.

He makes for a very solid WR2 this week, and is a very good bet to find the end zone.

Visanthe Shiancoe (Minnesota Vikings) vs. Buffalo

Shiancoe had three receptions for 54 yards against the Washington Redskins in Week 12, which was his best yardage total since Week 9.

He should be able to build on that success this week against the Buffalo Bills, who have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends (9.9 per game) this season.

The Bills have also allowed the most touchdowns to opposing tight ends, with eight this season.

Look for Shiancoe to at least find the end zone for the first time since Week 9 this Sunday, and that makes him a solid fantasy tight end this week.
