Sam Bradford, St Louis Rams Look to Win vs. Donovan McNabb, Washington Redskins

The St. Louis Rams face the Washington Redskins in week 3 of the 2010 NFL season.

Two weeks, two losses for the Rams. 

Two weeks, two good first halves of play.

Two weeks, two bad second halves of play.

Two weeks, two missed opportunities.

In week three, the Rams look to rebound at home against the Redskins after a tough loss to the lowly Oakland Raiders, 16-14.

When they run the ball they successfully move the ball down field. 

When they don't run the ball, they struggle......badly.

With all due respect to the Rams organizations, don't forget about your old toy (Steven Jackson) just because you bought a very expensive younger toy (Sam Bradford).

From what I've heard, two things win championships, a great run game and an even better defense.

So far this season, the Rams don't have either. 

Part of me thinks this will be a trap game for Washington.

Unless you live in a box, you probably know the Redskins lost to Houston after being up 17 points in the third quarter.

What makes it even worse? The game was at home!

After they unexpectedly beat Dallas in week 1, the loss must has been a great let down.

The Rams have been a first half team this season. If they want to win this game, they MUST jump on the Skins early. Putting a 14 spot up in the first quarter will go a long way toward victory. I don't care how bad they are offensively in the second half. 

I know it may seem early in the season to say this but the Rams NEED to win this game. Give the kid Bradford a taste of winning in the NFL. 

The Redskins are ripe for the pickin; I just hope the Rams coaching staff has enough foresight to see it.

Run defense has not been a strength for the Rams thus far. But it cannot be a liability this week as the Rams MUST stop Clinton Portis.

Week 1 vs. Arizona: 21 rushes for 112 yards

Week 2 vs. Oakland 40 rushes for 173 yards

Those stats are good enough for 30th in the NFL. 

Good thing thing for the Rams: the Skins are the WORST team in the league at running the ball. 

40 rushes for 102 yards, 2.7 yards per carry. 

Another great thing for the Rams: Rookie left tackle Trent Williams, who was the fourth pick in the 2010 draft is questionable to play due to a knee injury he suffered last week against Houston.

The inefficiency of Portis should allow the Rams to play a pass heavy style of defense. Look for the Rams to stuff an extra guy in the secondary to eliminate some pass options for Redskins QB Donovan McNabb.

Ultimately this game will come down to the Rams offensive game plan. Run, run, run the ball down the field. Doing that will keep the Rams defense fresh throughout the game. 

Sam Bradford has shown a lot of progress in only two weeks of play. This is the game I believe you will see a big things from the kid.
