We all heard it. We all read it. We all saw it.

The sports media's seemingly endless bashing of Tim Tebow before this year's draft was outrageous. The guy may not be the next Peyton Manning, but to hear Mel Kiper tell it, he's some hack off the street who's never played this game before.

Why? Why the vitriol? Why the venom?

Tebow went to Denver with the 25th pick. Anybody remember where Tennessee drafted Vince Young? Or San Diego picked Ryan Leaf? Or Oakland picked JaMarcus Russell? Or Cincinnati took Akili Smith? Anyone remember what pick was used on Byron Leftwich? Dante Culpepper? Brady Quinn? David Carr? Chris Weinke?

I'll bet all of them went higher than Tebow. If Tebow busts as a QB, will it be the end of civilization as we know it? Well, if you caught Kiper and the gang of "experts" after the Broncos took him, you would think so.

So what gives here?

Well, to get to the REAL reason these "experts" have dumped on Tebow and Denver, let's go back in time. Back to the 1970s.

Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder was ruined by comments he made about black football players. His comments were stupid. But the sports journalism world took notice at what was done to him for it. He was ruined. No amount of contrition would ever be enough. There was no way to apologize. It was the sports equivalent of Kramer from Seinfeld.

Fast forward to the "Rush Limbaugh Incident" on ESPN. Limbaugh is credited with bigotry towards Donovan McNabb. BUT, what he actually said was Donovan McNabb will always get a pass when it comes to the media out of fear that criticizing a black QB will result in the "Jimmy the Greek Treatment."

Therefore, you will never get an honest assessment from the media on how good McNabb REALLY is. This resulted in a firestorm that cost Limbaugh his gig on ESPN.

So now we are in 2010. For decades now, these elitist sportswriters like Kiper and McShay have REALLY believed the quarterbacks should be stationary. They should have a rocket arm and a quick release. They should stand in the pocket and dissect a defensive scheme while directing his teammates where to go and what to do.

And most of all he should be white.

But they can't SAY that. Or they will end up like the Greek.

So one day the skies parted and their dreams came true. Here he is—a black quarterback. He's got an awkward throwing motion. He runs the football if his guy is covered. He's mobile. He's athletic. But wait a minute. He's WHITE!! HOORAY. He's fair game.

All the crap we WANTED to say about Vince Young, Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb, Dante Culpepper, Byron Leftwich, and David Garrard, we can dump it ALL on Tebow. And there is nothing anyone can do about it because, he's WHITE! He's a black quarterback in a white man's body! YES!!

So it is open season on Tebow and anyone associated with him. If you were at his draft party, you can be called a Nazi. If you're his team, you have just made the dumbest pick in football history. And if you are Tebow, you are a sure-fire failure.

What did all those teams get for the money they spent on the aforementioned quarterbacks? NOTHING! If Tebow steps on the field, throws five picks in his first game, quits and becomes a missionary, he will never be the bust Ryan Leaf was. What did San Diego get for picking that turd?

If anything Tebow is less of a risk that any of those guys because if he bombs at QB, you can make a fullback out of him. At least you get something for picking him. Tebow was by far the best "football player" in this draft. Denver got him at #25. How can that be a bad pick?

Memo to Terrelle Pryor. If you want to know what Kiper, McShay, and all the other "experts" REALLY think of you, go back and look at what they said about Tebow. They won't say it about you because they are spineless jellyfish. But it's what they believe.
