Michelle BrutonSep 29, 2016

We've officially reached the quarter point of the 2016 NFL season, and things are starting to get interesting.

Who knew that the Pittsburgh Steelers would come into Week 4 licking their wounds after getting blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles?

And how lucky are Ryan Fitzpatrick and his New York Jets that the presidential debate overshadowed his six interceptions on Monday Night Football in the media news cycle?

Week 4 Predictions

LA Rams Keep It Going vs. Arizona Cardinals

Sometimes teams get stuck in a narrative established early in the season that doesn't always match its performance or potential later in the year.

That could be the case with the Los Angeles Rams, who many wrote off immediately after their embarrassing debut on Monday Night Football, a 28-0 shutout at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.

But the Rams won both their following games to advance to 2-1 on the season and now find themselves in first place in the NFC West as they prepare to take on division rival Arizona.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, are struggling to get back on top after falling to 1-2 on the season and third place in the NFC West.

Needless to say, this game will be a statement for whichever team comes out on top.

The Rams aren't anything to write home about on either side of the ball, ranking last in the league in yards per game (262.7) and 29th in points (15.3). On paper, the Cardinals should be much better, scoring an average of 26.3 points per game.

But Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer fell apart in Week 3, throwing zero touchdowns and four interceptions. That's a disastrous formula, and the Rams are talented enough on defense to give him trouble in Week 4.

So long as the Rams can keep Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson in check, they won't need to put up double-digit points to take this one and flip the narrative of their season.

New England Patriots Prove Unstoppable

Who's playing quarterback for New England on Sunday?

Does it matter?

At this point, it seems that coach Bill Belichick is using the uncertainty surrounding New England's passers as an advantage, forcing the Buffalo Bills to prepare for different types of passing games with either Jimmy Garoppolo or Jacoby Brissett.

As Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reported Wednesday, both quarterbacks spoke following practice:

And as Ryan Hannable of WEEI shared, both quarterbacks participated in the portion of practice open to the media:

Both Garoppolo and Brissett have proved they can command this offense, though Garoppolo has the upper hand in terms of what he can do as a passer. But Brissett's ability to run the ball adds another dimension to the preparations the Bills have to make this week.

And with LeGarrette Blount's success on the ground and the arsenal of weapons at New England's disposal, it's hard to imagine Buffalo pulling out the win regardless of who lines up under center.

Pittsburgh Steelers Overcome Fluky Loss

The Steelers' shocking 34-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was their worst loss since 1989, as ESPN Stats & Info pointed out:

That's the definition of "fluke," and it's safe to say the Steelers should look like their high-scoring selves again in Week 4.

After all, after three games the Steelers are still 14th in passing yards per game (254) and 18th in rushing yards (100), and even with their embarrassing three-point output in Week 3, they're still a respectable 19th in scoring (21.7 points per game).

And if the offense is slumping, it will get a big jolt this week with the return of running back Le'Veon Bell, who can make a difference both on the ground and in the passing game out of the backfield.

There's no question that Ben Roethlisberger is missing the suspended Martavis Bryant this season; however, Bell allows the offense to mix things up with regard to the playbook. He should help Pittsburgh bounce back against the Kansas City Chiefs and their strong defense in Week 4.
