New England Patriots Dominate the Houston Texans
- With the help of a suffocating defense and punishing running game, New England Patriots rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett won his first career start against the Houston Texans. Brissett threw for 103 yards and added another 48 on the ground. His longest rush of the game was a 27-yard touchdown.

Chip Kelly Comments on Colin Kaepernick
- San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly commented on his backup quarterback's recent protest of the national anthem. According to the San Francisco Chronicle's Eric Branch, Kelly said Kaepernick is "shedding light on a situation that's heinous."

Brandon Marshall's July Incident with Miami Police Under Investigation
- In a first-person piece he penned for the Denver Post, Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall recounted an incident he had with Miami police in July. Marshall wrote that police detained him as he left an establishment. The Post's Nicki Jhabvala reported that the police are now investigating the allegation.

A Trio of Carolina Panthers Respond to Violence in Charlotte
- Carolina Panthers Thomas Davis, Tre Boston and Greg Olsen commented on the violent protests in Charlotte, North Carolina. "For anyone out there listening to me now," Davis said, according to WCNC.com's Nick Carboni. "This is not the way to fix the problem."

Judge Orders Rams to Refund Fans in St. Louis
- When the Rams relocated from St. Louis to Los Angeles, they left some of their Midwestern fans in something of a bind. At least that was the case until Thursday's decision from United States District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. According to Nathan Fenno of the Los Angeles Times, the Rams will have to refund the deposits on thousands of personal seat licenses.
