Fantasy Football Week 10: Friday's Daily Fantasy Market Report
Week 10 of the fantasy football season officially kicked off on Thursday night with the Baltimore Ravens defeating the Cleveland Browns 28-7.
What was really odd was the Browns benching quarterback Cody Kessler who wasn't playing terribly at the time, but who knows.
We have four of the best fantasy quarterbacks on bye this week, so we will need to look at some different options.
In one season-long league, I'm starting Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler this week.
Pray for me.
Good luck this weekend. Make some money!
Redskins WR DeSean Jackson Unlikely to Play Week 10
1 of 7
According to JP Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic, Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been ruled out for Week 10.
Jackson, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, did not practice on Thursday and was ultimately ruled out.
Over his last three games, Jackson is averaging seven targets per game.
With Jackson out, we should expect fellow wide receiver Jamison Crowder to see the biggest uptick in targets.
In Week 10, the Redskins will host the Minnesota Vikings who have been getting beat up a bit lately, but have still only given up just over 235 passing yards over the last two weeks.
Crowder will get the volume, but this feels like a four-catch, 50-yard game to me.
Redskins RB Matt Jones to Be a Healthy Scratch?
2 of 7
Amid his fumbling issues and ineffectiveness, we may not see Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones in Week 10.
According to Master Tesfatsion of the Washington Post, Jones could be a healthy scratch in Week 10. This is kind of a surprise given Jones opened the season as the starter, but this goes to show you that no one is safe.
Tesfatsion also reports that fellow running back Rob Kelley is set to be the lead back.
As mentioned in the previous slide, the Redskins will host the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10.
Although the Vikings are giving up the 13th-most rushing yards per game over the last two games, I'm not into Kelley at all this week.
49ers RB Carlos Hyde Optimistic
3 of 7
According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde is optimistic about playing in Week 10.
"Things are going in a good direction," said Hyde.
In Week 10, the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Arizona Cardinals. Although they give up the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs, the 49ers have shown they will stick to pounding the ball with Hyde (just look at the Seattle Seahawks game earlier this season).
If Hyde suits up, I trust the talent, so I'll give him a shot. Remember—Hyde caught six passes against the Cardinals earlier this season.
Rams RB Todd Gurley DNP Thursday
4 of 7
According to Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register, Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley did not practice on Thursday.
Well, kind of.
This Thursday was a day off for Rams players, but as the graphic in Hammond's tweet shows, this injury report is based off of a projection if it were a practice day.
Friday will be telling for Gurley, but even if he does suit up, he'll be less than 100 percent facing the New York Jets run defense that is one of the best in the league, and he has yet to top 85 rushing yards in a game this season.
Gurley is extremely cheap given his talent, but I just can't get on board.
Patriots RB Dion Lewis Playing This Week?
5 of 7
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, we could see New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis make his 2016 debut in Week 10.
As Garafolo notes, Lewis is "making the case" to play.
If Lewis were to play, we have to expect he'd be fairly limited. The Patriots already have quite a consistent pass-catching back in James White.
In DFS, I'm not going to target Lewis in Week 10—this is just too volatile and hey, it is the Seattle Seahawks they are playing this week.
I'll look elsewhere.
Falcons Have Yet to Rule out RB Tevin Coleman
6 of 7
After missing the last two games with a hamstring injury, we could see Atlanta Falcons running back Tevin Coleman back in Week 10.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Coleman "could" play in Week 10. Although Coleman was listed as a not practicing on Thursday, he was seen doing some running.
Rapoport also notes we'll have a "better understanding" on Friday of his status.
On the road against the Eagles, we could see some points scored, keeping in mind the combination of Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones and the Falcons putrid secondary.
He'll get his fair share of the touches, but I'll be leaning towards fellow running back Devonta Freeman. In big tournaments like the Millionaire Maker, you cannot put stock into someone like Coleman this week.
Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin DNP Thursday
7 of 7
Well, at least we won't be potentially baited into playing him this week.
According to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin did not practice on Thursday.
Yeah, guys—Maclin ain't playing.
If only Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith was competent enough to allow Maclin to perform as the receiver we know he can be.
Sigh.
With Maclin out, we'll see fellow wide receiver Albert Wilson get more run, but tight end Travis Kelce becomes the focal point.
The Chiefs will take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 10—a team that gives up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
*Gulp*—I'll give Kelce a shot this week, though I'm probably going to regret it.
