Fantasy Football Week 7: Tuesday's Daily Fantasy Market Report

Richard JanvrinOct 18, 2016

With Week 6 of the NFL season in the books, we look to Week 7 and begin to scour the news and formulate our fantasy football lineups.

Week 6 was perhaps the most exciting NFL week so far. We saw a total of 20 players from all positions go for 25 or more fantasy points in points-per-reception (PPR) formats.

For example, in a season-long league, I went up against Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi and Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy and still somehow managed to win.

With weeks like this in DFS, it can get crazy quickly.

Sunday's slate also had a couple of notable injuries that will directly impact DFS this weekend.

Let's dive in and see what we can make of them.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy DNP Monday

1 of 8

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy ($5,700 DraftKings; $6,900 FanDuel) is a player that hasn't been talked about much this season.

The reason? He hasn't been that great, but he hasn't been awful, either. He's been, kinda, well, somewhere in the middle.

With fellow running back James Starks out for the foreseeable future, Lacy figured to get plenty of uncontested touches out of the backfield in Week 6, and although he got 17 carries, he turned that into just 65 yards and remained touchdownless on the season.

In fact, wide receiver Ty Montgomery got three carries out of the backfield.

Lacy is making news this week, though.

On a short week and set to take on the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football, Lacy did not practice Monday due to an ankle injury, according to Jason Wilde of ESPN.com.

In light of his injury, the Packers have promoted practice squad running back Don Jackson, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

If Lacy is unable to go on the short week, we could honestly see Montgomery get a handful of carries out of the backfield, making his fantasy value quite interesting.

Week 6 was Lacy's lowest-priced week this season, and his Week 7 price will go down just a bit more. I'm staying away.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles to Remain Limited?

2 of 8

According to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City StarKansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid does not believe running back Jamaal Charles ($5,700 DK; $6,800 FD) is ready for a full workload.

Coming off the second ACL tear of his career at an advanced age by NFL standards, it makes sense not to thrust him back into a workhorse-like role.

Not only that, but fellow running back Spencer Ware has been playing out of his mind this season.

With the New Orleans Saints on deck in Week 7, Charles makes for a decent play with his role expanding, but keep in mind that he did see just 11 touches in Week 6.

Ware should be the lead dog here once again, but against the Saints, anything is possible.

49ers QB Colin Kaepernick to Remain Starter

3 of 8

No surprise here—San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick ($5,300 DK; $6,500 FD) will remain the team's starter in Week 7, per the 49ers' Twitter account.

In Week 7, the 49ers and Kaepernick will get a Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass defense that gives up over 270 yards per game. Couple that with Kaepernick's running ability, and he has a decent floor.

We witnessed it in Week 6—Kaepernick had 66 rushing yards.

At his price tag, stacking Kaepernick with wide receiver Torrey Smith ($3,800 DK; $5,600 FD) is a high-risk, high-reward proposition, but it has a chance to pay off and will provide extra lineup flexibility.

Browns WR Terrelle Pryor Sr. Has Hamstring Injury

4 of 8

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor Sr. ($6,200 DK; $7,300 FD) is dealing with a hamstring injury, according to the team's Twitter account.

Hamstring injuries often like to linger, which is obviously not good—see Foster, Arian.

In Week 7—if Pryor suits up—he'll go up against a Cincinnati Bengals defense that has give up seven touchdowns to opposing wide receivers this year. Pryor is definitely the No. 1 pass-catching option for the Browns, so regardless of matchup, he'll be targeted.

This is an injury to keep an eye on as the week progresses. If he is ultimately out, expect tight end Gary Barnidge to shoulder the load.

Dolphins RB Arian Foster Not 100 Percent

5 of 8

In the wake of Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi's career day, head coach Adam Gase has said that fellow running back Arian Foster ($4,200 DK; $5,600 FD) is still not 100 percent after missing three games with a hamstring injury, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

Given Foster's injury history, it's not a surprise that he's still not 100 percent after suffering another soft tissue injury.

After Ajayi's outburst in Week 6, Foster is going to take a backseat in terms of carrying the ball, but should still carve out a role in the passing game.

Going up against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7, it's not at all inspiring to roster Foster this week.

Stay away.

Redskins TE Jordan Reed Not Ruled Out for Week 7

6 of 8

After missing Week 6 with a concussion, Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed ($6,000 DK; $7,300 FD) has not been ruled out for Week 7, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

However, Reed has suffered five concussions since college.

Five.

Per the Redskins' Twitter account, Reed is set to visit an independent neurologist on Tuesday, so we could get more clarity then.

If he plays in Week 7, he should be started.

No question about it.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger Has Surgery on Torn Meniscus

7 of 8

According to Mark Kaboly of DK Pittsburgh SportsPittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger underwent a successful surgery to repair his meniscus.

Roethlisberger will be out this week, but the question is when can we expect him back?

Well, according to Dr. Selene Parekh we can expect his return sometime within the next three weeks, putting him in line to start against the Baltimore Ravens on the road.

With Landry Jones set to start at quarterback, essentially every Steelers skill position player takes a dip in value with the exception of running back Le'Veon Bell ($8,000 DK; $8,600 FD).

You're probably wondering about wide receiver Antonio Brown ($9,300 DK; $9,000 FD). He's one of the highest-priced receivers in Week 7 and the Steelers will be hosting the New England Patriots.

It's hard to say this, but stay clear of Brown this week.

Titans HC Mike Mularkey: WR Tajae Sharpe Has 'Taken a Step Back'

8 of 8

After kicking off his NFL career with seven receptions for 76 yards in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Tajae Sharpe has fallen out of favor.

According to Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com, Titans head coach Mike Mularkey has shed some light on that situation, saying Sharpe has "taken [a] step back."

Well, that's certainly not good.

Rarely do we see a head coach publicly call out a player, but here we are.

Over his last three games, Sharpe has seen no more than four targets and is coming off a big goose egg in Week 6.

The Titans offense is so strange outside of running back DeMarco Murray.

When ranking the pass-catching options, tight end Delanie Walker and wide receiver Rishard Matthews are the top two options moving forward.

We could also see fellow wide receiver Kendall Wright overtake Sharpe at some point, especially after his outburst in Week 6.

Sharpe is completely off DFS radars.
