Fantasy Football Week 14: Matt Camp's Week 14 Big Board
If you were lucky enough to ride David Johnson to the fantasy football playoffs after 13 weeks of the NFL season, your chances of winning a fantasy championship are likely very good.
A dominant player like Johnson gives you a chance to win any matchup, but getting this far in the fantasy season is more than just plugging in Johnson and waiting for the points to roll in. Tough decisions need to be made, and tough matchups await in Week 14.
Surviving Week 13 without the Tennessee Titans wasn't easy. Much like Johnson, plugging DeMarco Murray into your starting lineup is a no-brainer. Starting Marcus Mariota against the Denver Broncos isn't so easy, even if he was a big part of your success over the last two months.
Even the best teams have perplexing lineup decisions to make. Let's make sure you choose wisely with your season on the line.
Check out my first look at the points-per-reception (PPR) rankings for Week 14. These will change throughout the week and up to Sunday's action as we get more information about injuries and limitations, so make sure to bookmark this page.
Top 100
1 of 7
I present my top 100 players (minus quarterbacks) for the week as a way to help determine your flex spots. You may favor a certain position or player over another based on his role and/or your scoring rules.
As an additional tiebreaker, here are the teams I like as a whole this week based on their matchups:
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. New Orleans Saints)
- Washington Redskins (at Philadelphia Eagles)
- Seattle Seahawks (at Green Bay Packers)
- Cincinnati Bengals (at Cleveland Browns)

Quarterbacks
2 of 7
Better Than Usual
Kirk Cousins, WAS (at PHI)
Cousins found himself in the concerns category last week due to his matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. Coming into that game, the Cardinals hadn't allowed more than 269 yards in any game and had just two games with more than one passing touchdown allowed. Cousins ended up throwing for 271 yards, but he had just one passing touchdown and an interception, although he provided an unexpected bonus with a rushing touchdown.
With that tough matchup behind him, Cousins should be able take advantage of the mess that is the Philadelphia Eagles defense. Over the last two games against the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers, the Eagles allowed 645 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Back in Week 6, Cousins threw for 263 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 18-of-34 passing in a win over the Eagles. Even if Cousins is without Jordan Reed (shoulder) again, he has more than enough weapons to put up big numbers.
Week 14 Projection: 290-300 yards, 2 touchdowns
Concerns
Marcus Mariota, TEN (vs. DEN)
Mariota was one of the hottest fantasy quarterbacks in the two months leading into his Week 13 bye, which is why his absence hurt so many last week. While he was able to take advantage of a favorable schedule during those eight games, it gets tougher in Week 14 with a visit from the Denver Broncos.
In seven games this season, including last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Broncos limited opposing quarterbacks to less than 200 yards. On two occasions they have allowed multiple passing touchdowns, but in five games they didn't give up any passing touchdowns. This could be Mariota's stiffest test of the season, so keep expectations out of the top-five level he was playing at before the bye.
Week 14 Projection: 235-245 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 14 rushing yards
Avoid
Ryan Tannehill, MIA (vs. ARI)
The goodwill Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins had built up for more than a month went up in smoke in last week's ugly loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Because the game was 24-0 at the half, the Dolphins abandoned their rushing attack and went to the air more often than usual with Tannehill. He completed 29 of 40 attempts for 226 yards with a touchdown and a season-high three interceptions.
Another tough matchup waits for Tannehill when the Arizona Cardinals visit in Week 14. Even though the Cardinals allowed their highest yardage totals of the season to Kirk Cousins (271) and Matt Ryan (269) in their last two games, they've surrendered more than one passing touchdown in just two games. Don't expect Tannehill to buck the trend.
Week 14 Projection: 220-230 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions, 13 rushing yards
Sleepers
Andy Dalton, CIN (at CLE)
Even without A.J. Green (hamstring) in the lineup last week, Dalton had one of his best games of the season in a glorious domination of the Philadelphia Eagles. He was efficient with 332 yards and two touchdowns on 23-of-31 passing. That was only the fourth time Dalton had 300-plus yards and only the third time he had two passing touchdowns in a game this season.
The last time Dalton faced the Cleveland Browns was also the last time he had 300-plus yards, which was Week 7, when he went for 308 yards and two touchdowns on just 19-of-28 passing. Even though the Browns are coming off a bye and Green's status is in question, Dalton has enough working in his favor to be a legit sleeper candidate.
Week 14 Projection: 270-280 yards, 2 touchdowns

Running Backs
3 of 7
Better Than Usual
Thomas Rawls, SEA (at GB)
After failing to come through in Week 12 without C.J. Prosise in the mix, Rawls bounced back in a big way in Week 13 versus the Carolina Panthers. He rushed 15 times for 106 yards and two scores, including a 45-yard touchdown. That was Rawls' third game back after sitting out the previous seven games due to a fibula injury.
Even though Russell Wilson has attempted 35 passes in more than half his games this season, Seattle still wants to run the ball and should feature Rawls in this week's important matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Initially, they were one of the better run defenses in the league, but the Packers have since slipped and given up the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs over the last four weeks. Rawls can be used with confidence as an RB1.
Week 14 Projection: 19 carries, 94 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown, 2 receptions, 16 receiving yards
Concerns
Jay Ajayi, MIA (vs. ARI)
Last week, Ajayi ran well when he had the chance against the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, that didn't come often enough because of a lopsided score that saw the Ravens go up 24-0 at the half. Ajayi had 61 yards on 12 carries and six receptions for 26 yards on seven targets. His carry total was his lowest since Week 4.
By the numbers, the Arizona Cardinals provide Ajayi with another tough matchup, giving up the sixth-fewest fantasy points to RBs in the last four weeks. While the matchup is worrisome, Miami needs to avoid a repeat of last week's blowout so it can stick with Ajayi throughout the game as a runner.
Week 14 Projection: 16 carries, 63 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 24 receiving yards
Avoid
None of note.
Sleepers
Bilal Powell, NYJ (at SF)
If you're hurting so bad heading into the fantasy playoffs that you still need a sleeper at running back, then you might want to take a chance on Powell. Try to forget last week's game against the Colts, when he had just one carry for three yards and one target without a reception. For some reason, C.J. Spiller had three touches that totaled 12 yards. He's no longer with the New York Jets.
So is the door back open for Powell to contribute enough for fantasy purposes this week? It should be, considering the great matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. In the last four weeks, they've allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs, including 35 carries for 127 yards and three touchdowns to Jordan Howard and the Chicago Bears last week. With Bryce Petty starting, both Matt Forte and Powell could be primed for busy roles.
Week 14 Projection: 5 carries, 31 receiving yards, 3 receptions, 22 receiving yards

Wide Receivers
4 of 7
Better Than Usual
Jamison Crowder, WAS (at PHI)
When Crowder puts up three receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown and it's considered a dip from recent performances, you know he's playing at a high level. Crowder now has double-digit fantasy points for PPR formats in all but two games this season.
Crowder last faced the Eagles in Week 6 and had another one of those quieter fantasy days with three receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown on four targets. Since that game, he's had at least six targets in all but one of the last six games. Expect a busy performance out of Crowder when he faces the third-worst defense in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers over the last month.
Week 14 Projection: 6 receptions, 75 yards, 1 touchdown
Concerns
Stefon Diggs, MIN (at JAC)
In Week 13, Diggs was able to play through the knee injury that kept him out of action the week before on Thanksgiving, and while he caught all eight of his targets, he totaled just 59 yards. The knee issue may be a partial reason for the low yards per catch, while Sam Bradford has no choice but to get rid of the ball quickly with little pass protection.
More of the same could be coming this week in a difficult matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. No team has given up fewer fantasy points per game to wide receivers in the last four weeks, so Diggs will have his hands full trying to get separation in the short amount time Bradford has to throw.
Week 14 Projection: 6 receptions, 61 yards
Rishard Matthews, TEN (vs. DEN)
The Tennessee Titans come off the bye and head right into a shaky matchup against the visiting Denver Broncos, which is bad news for Matthews. As the team's unquestioned top wide receiver, Matthews has to worry that the cornerback duo of Chris Harris and Aqib Talib will focus on him in this key matchup with playoff implications for both teams.
The Broncos may be a middle-of-the-road defense against fantasy wide receivers in the last four weeks, but a big part of that is the crooked line (13 receptions, 204 yards, two touchdowns) the Saints WRs put up back in Week 10. While Matthews performed like a touchdown-reliant WR1 in the weeks leading into the team's Week 13 bye, expectations should be lower for this tough matchup.
Week 14 Projection: 5 receptions, 68 yards
Avoid
Allen Robinson, JAC (vs. MIN)
In the last three games, Robinson has just eight receptions on 21 targets for 73 yards and a touchdown. It looked like Robinson might be turning a corner with 22 receptions, 253 yards and a pair of scores in Weeks 8-10, but the consistency faded away just as quickly as it materialized.
The Minnesota Vikings are a top-10 defense against fantasy wide receivers in their last four games, so Robinson could be in for a big struggle, especially if he sees a lot of top cornerback Xavier Rhodes. The bigger concern is how Blake Bortles will function in this tough matchup. With your season potentially on the line, try to avoid Robinson if you can.
Week 14 Projection: 3 receptions, 40 yards
Brandon Marshall, NYJ (at SF)
Marshall and the New York Jets didn't really have a chance to save their season in Week 13, but they had a shot at decent fantasy numbers with a favorable matchup at home against the Indianapolis Colts. An awful first-half performance by Ryan Fitzpatrick led to a quarterback change at the half, but Bryce Petty didn't fare much better. Marshall was limited to four receptions for 43 yards on eight targets.
According to head coach Todd Bowles, with the team out of playoff contention, the Jets will start Petty for the final four games, per Eric Allen of NewYorkJets.com. Petty's only prior start came against the Los Angeles Rams back in Week 10, and it was one of Marshall’s worst outings, with four receptions for 15 yards on six targets.
The San Francisco 49ers shouldn't be considered a tough matchup, but Petty under center is enough reason to steer clear of Marshall, if possible.
Week 14 Projection: 4 receptions, 40 yards
Sleepers
Pierre Garcon, WAS (at PHI)
Garcon has quietly put together a strong season, which continued during last week's loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He caught seven of nine targets for 78 yards, giving him at least 12 fantasy points in four of the last five games with a chance to make it five out of six in Philadelphia this week.
Wide receivers have feasted on the Eagles over the last four weeks, as they allowed the third-most fantasy points during that span. When these teams last met in Week 6, Garcon posted six receptions for 77 yards on 11 targets. Even in a road game, you can have faith in Garcon to put up another solid fantasy performance.
Week 14 Projection: 6 receptions, 80 yards

Tight Ends
5 of 7
Better Than Usual
Jason Witten, DAL (at NYG)
Last week, Witten's streak of 130 straight games with a reception ended in a victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Luckily, Witten has a chance to start a new streak up with hopefully more than just one catch in a favorable matchup with the New York Giants in Week 14.
This is a rematch of a Week 1 victory for the Giants that saw Witten lead Dallas with nine receptions for 66 yards on 14 targets. Quarterback Dak Prescott is now a lot more prepared and has a much better grasp of the offense.
After the Giants gave up nine receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown to Ladarius Green and the Pittsburgh Steelers tight ends last week, Witten could come through with solid fantasy numbers. The Giants have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends in the last four weeks, which is their only glaring weakness on defense. Hopefully, the Cowboys are smart enough to exploit it.
Week 14 Projection: 5 receptions, 51 yards
Concerns
Greg Olsen, CAR (vs. SD)
Typically, players in the concerns category have a tough matchup to worry about, but that's not the case with Olsen in an average matchup with the San Diego Chargers. Instead, the concern lies with Olsen's production and how much you can depend on him in the fantasy playoffs.
Olsen was the unquestioned top fantasy tight end over the first six weeks but has seen his numbers dip in a big way, especially over the last month. In the last four games, Olsen has 16 receptions for 147 yards without a touchdown on 27 targets. Olsen can't be considered a TE1 with those numbers, yet it's hard to rank him very low since reliable TEs are few and far between. You may have to suck it up and hope Olsen rebounds in this week's game with the Chargers.
Week 14 Projection: 5 receptions, 59 yards
Avoid
None of note.
Sleepers
Vance McDonald, SF (vs. NYJ)
Why should you be considering McDonald after he had just two receptions for nine yards on four targets last week? Well, snow won't be a factor in San Francisco in Week 14. Also, the New York Jets just got demolished by Indianapolis Colts tight ends, who put up 10 receptions for 117 yards and three touchdowns, all scored by Dwayne Allen.
Because the 49ers are low on receiver talent, they'd be smart to feature McDonald, which could also help Colin Kaepernick get back on track and into a rhythm after he was benched last week. Logic is working in McDonald's favor, so hopefully the fantasy production follows.
Week 14 Projection: 4 receptions, 60 yards

Defenses
6 of 7
Best Options Based on Matchups
Minnesota Vikings (at JAC)
A strong start to the season is long behind the Vikings, but their defense remains a good one for fantasy, especially with a favorable matchup against Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the last four weeks, only the Cleveland Browns allowed more fantasy points to defenses than the Jaguars. Minnesota comes into Week 14 with the seventh-most fantasy points over the last month thanks to 10 sacks, two interceptions, three fumble recoveries and two touchdowns.
Week 14 Projection: 3 sacks, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 15-18 points allowed
Cincinnati Bengals (at CLE)
The Cleveland Browns may turn to Robert Griffin at quarterback this week, but no matter who ends up under center for the Browns, you should feel good if the Bengals are your Week 14 fantasy defense. In the last four weeks, the Browns allowed 19 sacks, three interceptions, five fumble recoveries and a pair of touchdowns. That would explain why they've given up the most fantasy points to defenses during that timeframe and over the entire season.
Week 14 Projection: 4 sacks, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 16-19 points allowed

Kickers
7 of 7
Best Options Widely Available on the Waiver Wire
Sebastian Janikowski, OAK
Janikowski hit 10 of 11 field-goal attempts in his last four games, including all of his last seven tries. As the Oakland Raiders continue to score at a consistent pace, Janikowski hasn't missed any of his 32 extra-point attempts and has 18 points off extra points in the last six games. He should continue his hot streak Thursday night in Kansas City against the Chiefs.
