NFL Betting: Denver Broncos vs. Arizona Cardinals Odds, Preseason Analysis

OddsShark.comAug 31, 2016

The Arizona Cardinals will try to earn their first win of the preseason in their last outing Thursday when they host the Denver Broncos as four-point home favorites at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

In a game with both teams resting their starters in anticipation of Week 1 of the regular season, the Cardinals hope their depth and home field will help lead them to a win over the Broncos.

Arizona kicked off the preseason with a 31-10 loss to the Oakland Raiders at home, getting outscored 17-3 in the first quarter en route to the blowout. Matt Barkley played terribly at quarterback for the Cardinals, throwing for 121 yards on 8-of-24 passing with one interception and no touchdowns.

Barkley figures to see plenty of playing time versus Denver with the Cardinals cutting rookie Jake Coker and resting starter Carson Palmer for the opening-week matchup with the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football.

Denver head coach Gary Kubiak has already announced that former third-stringer Trevor Siemian will be the starting signal-caller in the NFL season opener against the Carolina Panthers in a Super Bowl 50 rematch.

The Broncos will likely rest Siemian here, which means backers will have to put their money on rookie Paxton Lynch, who the team still has high hopes for after selecting him in the first round of the NFL draft. Veteran Mark Sanchez did not play last week and could be cut or traded this week.

Lynch is expected to play the entire game and has not looked great in the preseason so far; otherwise, he may have ended up winning the starting job over Siemian. But Arizona is just 2-8 straight up in its last 10 preseason games, going 3-6-1 against the spread and with the total finishing over in six of seven, according to the Odds Shark NFL Database.

Meanwhile, Denver is 6-2 SU and ATS in its past eight exhibition games. The Broncos are also 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their previous eight regular-season meetings with the Cardinals, with the over cashing in each of the last seven. However, Arizona is 3-1 SU and ATS in the past four preseason matchups.
