Johnny Manziel Officially Dropped as Client by Drew Rosenhaus
High-profile NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus reportedly became the second representative to drop former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel in as many months on Tuesday.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Rosenhaus officially terminated his relationship with Manziel. Erik Burkhardt previously made the same decision back in February, per ESPN.com.
Rosenhaus' decision is the latest troubling sign concerning the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner's fading football career. That said, the move doesn't come as a surprise after Rosenhaus stated on PFT Live with Mike Florio on Friday he would end his time with Manziel, barring a change of lifestyle (via NBCSports.com's Josh Alper):

"Unfortunately there hasn't been any movement toward getting help or seeking treatment that I'm aware of. I'm trying diligently to recommend this to Johnny. I'm not the first one, certainly not the only one. There are a lot of friends and family and people that want the best for this young man. He's got a plan, it's just different than the one he and I talked about and what I would recommend to him.
"
Burkhardt expressed similar concerns when he made the same decision in February. He felt there was a lack of accountability from Manziel, whom he called a friend, and stated, "[I]t has become painfully obvious that his future rests solely in his own hands," as noted by Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports.
The 23-year-old quarterback's own father, Paul Manziel, provided an even more grim outlook to Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News as Burkhardt decided to move on: "I truly believe if they can't get him help, he won't live to see his 24th birthday."
Manziel dealt with a string of off-field issues during his time with the Browns before the team released him in March. That included an alleged domestic violence incident involving ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, which Jennifer Emily of the Dallas Morning News noted is in the hands of a grand jury.
More recently, Emily Smith of Page Six reported Manziel is alleged to have thrown a party in Los Angeles that caused $32,000 in damages to a rental home. Real estate broker Nicholas Goodwin told the outlet he returned to find a wild scene:
"They were supposed to check out at noon. Manziel was passed out . . . There was cocaine all over the kitchen table, and mushrooms were still out on the table in front of him. There was booze everywhere . . . broken glasses over the floor and a Champagne glass in a tree. If they don't respond to our demand for compensation, we will sue.
"
Each new off-field concern makes it even more difficult for Manziel to find his way back to the NFL. Both Burkhardt and Rosenhaus tried to get him back on a path to keep his career alive, but there have been no signs he's listening to their suggestions.
Ultimately, Burkhardt summed up the troubling situation best. Manziel controls his own fate, and only he knows what the next step will be after no shortage of missteps since he arrived to the NFL.
