Brady Passes Marino for 3rd Place on All-Time Touchdowns List

Bleacher Report MilestonesDec 8, 2015

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady moved past Dan Marino for sole possession of third place on the NFL's all-time passing touchdowns list during Sunday's 35-28 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, per Sportsnet Stats.

The 38-year-old signal-caller entered Sunday's contest tied with Marino at 420 career touchdowns, and he didn't waste much time taking the lead.

Brady found running back James White for a four-yard touchdown on the first snap of the second quarter, finishing off a 10-play, 80-yard drive.

When Brady added another touchdown pass to wide receiver Danny Amendola later in the second quarter, it appeared the widely anticipated rout would come to fruition.

Quite to the contrary, an ice-cold Eagles team sprung to life, ripping off five consecutive touchdowns to take a 35-14 lead, with two of the scores coming on special teams and another on a 99-yard interception return by safety Malcolm Jenkins.

Brady did add a third passing touchdown and a rushing score to make a game of it, but his Patriots ultimately came up short when three consecutive dropped passes put an end to their last-ditch drive.

It will be a while before Brady has another chance to move up the all-time touchdowns list, as the only players left ahead of him are Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508).

Of course, he'd probably be perfectly happy with the No. 3 spot, so long as he accomplishes the more immediate goal of becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to win five Super Bowls.
