NFL Power Rankings: Week 9 Super Bowl Odds, Standings and Playoff Projections
Call the NFL a bizzaro world this year, which power rankings heading into Week 9 will reflect.
In short, the Cincinnati Bengals stand as one of the league's undefeated teams, the Indianapolis Colts lead a division at 3-4 and the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders are right in the thick of the playoff hunt.
Much can change in the coming weeks, but right now, even the bravest of projections couldn't have nailed down something similar to this. A simulation of Madden might have avoided this sort of situation, too.

Teams With Most at Stake in Week 9
Oakland Raiders

The aforementioned Raiders have quite the interesting resume.
There's wins against the San Diego Chargers and New York Jets in recent weeks, but there's an odd two-point loss to the Chicago Bears as well. But there's also a six-point loss to Denver.
Translation: The Raiders sound like a young team.
It's not a bad thing, either, as Derek Carr's completing 65.5 percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns to three picks, leaning on breakout rookie Amari Cooper (38 catches, 565 yards, three scores) and a rejuvenated Michael Crabtree (40 for 483 and three).
It helps Carr can count on a defense led by sack monster Khalil Mack (four) and future Hall of Famer Charles Woodson, who has five interceptions.
Despite the good vibes, Oakland finds itself on the road in Pittsburgh this weekend against a Steelers team also looking to sneak into the postseason. In fact, perhaps no game has bigger playoff implications in Week 9, so keep an eye on how Carr handles the road pressure against a savvy Ben Roethlisberger looking to scratch and claw his way out of a hole.
New York Jetsย
Keeping pace with the New England Patriots in the AFC East isn't an easy task.
The New York Jets seem to have the edge, but a 30-23 loss in Foxborough back in Week 7 isn't helping things. Of course, neither is the 34-20 loss to the Raiders this past weekend on the road.
From the final score alone, folks can tell the usually stout Jets defense didn't play up to its reputation, something linebacker David Harris is sure the unit will correct this week, according to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini:
"It alarms everybody. We know we're not that defense. I believe we'll get it corrected this week in practice and I think we'll come out with a new focus this week. Watching the film, it was disgusting to look at. Everybody in that room had the same feeling. I can promise you, it won't happen again.
"
Not that the unit has a choiceโquarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered an injury this past weekend, which could hamper what has been a strong passing attack with Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.
As Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News captured, coach Todd Bowles has been vague on his starter's status:
The good news? New York hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars, a winnable affair even with a backup under center.
As hinted, Oakland is much better than expected this year. The Jets can prove they are better than their record by taking down a beatable team. If not, the playoff outlook only becomes murkier.
Indianapolis Colts

The finger pointing and excuses have begun in Indianapolis, where the Colts just fired offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.ย
The ax had to fall at some point, with the Colts now on a three-game losing streak. It doesn't matter that the team lost by no more than a touchdown against a run of contenders featuring New England, New Orleans and Carolinaโthree wins won't cut it.
Or will it?
The AFC South might be the worst division of all time. The Colts sit at 3-5, the same record as Houston, while Jacksonville has two wins and Tennessee just one. It explains the problem in Indianapolisโthe team's only wins have come against fellow division mates.
Andrew Luck doesn't look like himself this year, having thrown 13 scores to 12 picks while completing less than 55 percent of his passes. The team isn't using veterans acquired to make a run, such as Frank Gore and Andre Johnson, properly, either.
It's hard to say whether a change in who calls the plays will improve the situation for one of the teams catapulting down power rankings. Time's running out, thoughโPeyton Manning and the Denver Broncos visit town this weekend.
If the Colts take another conference loss, it only further opens the door for Houston to slip past, and there's no chance a team from the division gets a wild card.
