Randy Moss Claims He Would Come out of Retirement to Play with Peyton Manning

Adam WellsNov 8, 2014

Retired wide receiver Randy Moss has been the source of a lot of on-field talk recently. The former All-Pro's latest comments make it clear that he would be happy to make an NFL return for the opportunity to play with Peyton Manning

During an appearance on The Peter Schrager Podcast, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post, Moss said he would come out of retirement to play alongside Manning:

"

I’m gonna tell you this, for me to come out of retirement for a player such as Peyton Manning, I would consider that. I really would consider it. I’m still in great shape, I can still run. I’m not the most old, but just by looking at the things I see on Sundays, I can still go out there and catch some passes and catch some touchdowns.

Jhabvala also noted that the Seattle Seahawks contacted Moss about joining their roster after trading Percy Harvin, but he declined.

It's not surprising that Moss would want to play in a system with someone like Manning. It's an easy way to rack up yardage, play with one of the best quarterbacks in history and have a chance to win a Super Bowl.

The problem for Moss is a team like Denver doesn't have a need for him. Seattle, on the other hand, could use him and hope to catch lightning in a bottle, a point echoed by Dave Dameshek of NFL.com:

Given the weapons already on Denver's roster, Moss shouldn't wait for the phone to start ringing. He last played in NFL with San Francisco in 2012, appearing in the Super Bowl and racking up 28 catches, 434 yards and three touchdowns.
