Week 12 Fantasy Football Rankings: Top Playmakers Set for Big-Time Performances

Drew Brees, Robert Griffin III and Matt Ryan will all light up the scoreboard and the faces of fantasy owners with mighty performances in Week 12, but none of those playmaking quarterbacks will achieve the level of play of this week's top fantasy stars.

Whether they're riding a tidal wave of momentum or will just benefit from a solid matchup, these fantasy studs are about to explode.

Here we rank the top five playmakers set for big-time performances in Week 12.

No. 5. Tony Romo, QB

The Dallas Cowboys' Week 12 opponent, the Washington Redskins, are one of only three teams in the NFL giving up more than 300 yards passing per game in 2012. The 'Skins have also given up 20-plus passing touchdowns in 10 games.

On the other side, Tony Romo has thrown at least one touchdown pass in his last seven games.

It's safe to say that Romo, like every other quarterback that has faced Washington's secondary this season, will have a big-time performance in Week 12.

No. 4. Aaron Rodgers, QB

You can bet reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers will be out for revenge in Week 12 when his Green Bay Packers travel east to take on the New York Giants in a rematch of last January's NFC Divisional playoff game. The Packers were embarrassed in that matchup, losing by 17 points at home.

Not only will Green Bay be motivated, but we all know how dangerous Rodgers' right arm is, and how much New York's secondary has struggled in recent weeks. The G-Men have given up 17 touchdown passes in 10 games this fall.

Although New York will be fresh off a bye and playing at home, Rodgers and the Pack still need wins to secure a playoff berth, and that bodes well for A-Rod owners.

Over/Under 100 yards rushing for Ridley vs. the Jets?

No. 3. Stevan Ridley, RB

The New England Patriots will travel to MetLife Stadium in Week 12 to take on the AFC East rival New York Jets, who rank towards the bottom of the league in rush defense.

Sure, the Jets' secondary will make life tough for Tom Brady and his receivers, but they will likely have no answers for Ridley on the ground. The former LSU Tiger has been reeling off yards consistently and finding the end zone every bit as often this season.

The Jets are a shell of themselves these days and you have to love Ridley's matchup on Thanksgiving night.

No. 2. Frank Gore, RB

Frank Gore and the San Francisco 49ers will be at New Orleans in Week 12 to take on the Saints and their wretched rush defense inside the Superdome.

Only the Buffalo Bills are giving bigger chunks of yardage on the ground than New Orleans this season. The Saints defense has been historically terrible. Therefore, fantasy owners can expect one of the league's best backs, Gore, will have a sensational day running the ball.

Not only does Gore present a physical style of running, but the Niners' blocking schemes are nearly flawless and ensure that their big back eats up yards on the ground.

Will Manning be the highest scoring fantasy QB in Week 12?

No. 1. Peyton Manning, QB

Peyton Manning is almost a lock to torch any defense he faces this season, but in Week 12, he and the Denver Broncos will be on the road facing the lowly Kansas City Chiefs, who rank sixth in the NFL in most touchdown passes allowed in 2012.

It's not out of the question to expect 300-plus yards and at least three touchdowns from the veteran signal-caller this coming weekend at Arrowhead. After all, Manning reached those marks in four straight games from Week 4 through Week 8.

The Chiefs have a 1-9 record to show for their struggles in all three phases of the game, and a seasoned passer like Manning is a lock to exploit their deficiencies on defense this coming weekend.
