2012 NFL Mock Draft: Updated Picks for Every First Round Team

Andrew KulhaMar 26, 2012

The 2012 NFL free agency period has drastically changed the way the 2012 NFL draft will look, so it's time to do some updating.

Player stock and team needs change on a weekly, if not daily, basis in regards to the NFL draft. That's why it's important to keep up on the latest mocks and information around the NFL and NFL draft world.

Here's my latest mock draft with updated picks for the first round:

Rams Seahawks Football

1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

Barring a shocking change of heart, we will see Luck lead the Colts for a very long time.

2. Washington Redskins: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

The Redskins made the right move by trading up to get Griffin III. He's a franchise quarterback and has the potential to be just as good, if not better, than Luck.

3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT, USC

There should be absolutely zero denying how great this pick is for the Vikings. Everything Kalil has shown us so far suggest that he's a franchise left tackle.

4. Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

The Browns lost Peyton Hillis in free agency, so this pick becomes automatic. Richardson has the potential to be the best running back in the league in a few years.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

The Buccaneers made a whole bunch of offensive moves during free agency, so now they'll shore up their defense with this shutdown corner.

6. St. Louis Rams: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

I haven't had Blackmon here for a while, but after losing Brandon Lloyd in free agency, the Rams are going to need to get a play maker for Sam Bradford.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Nick Perry, DE, USC

Perry is the best defensive end on the board, and he fills a need for the Jags.

8. Miami Dolphins: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame

The Dolphins' offensive woes may be many this season if they can't find a weapon or two for their quarterback. Overall, this was a very disappointing offseason for the Dolphins, but perhaps Floyd can make things better.

9. Carolina Panthers: Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis

Poe is the real deal at defensive tackle and even though taking a shot on Michael Brockers may seem like the better option, Poe is a very safe pick at nine.

10. Buffalo Bills: Riley Reiff, LT, Iowa

The Bills made some splashes in free agency, bringing in Mario Williams and re-signing Stevie Johnson, but now they have to make a safe pick and fill a big need. Reiff has great footwork, good hands, speed, and will be a starter for a long time.

11. Kansas City Chiefs: David DeCastro, OG, Stanford

The Chiefs will be getting the second-best overall player in the draft here, and this pick will round out a pretty good offseason.

12. Seattle Seahawks: Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina

The Seahawks could try for a receiver here to help out new quarterback Matt Flynn, but they'll look to fortify their defensive front with the speedy and dangerous Ingram.

13. Arizona Cardinals: Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama

I've had the Cardinals going with tackle here in the past, but their offseason moves focused on the offensive line lead me to believe they will focus on defense, especially with no receivers worth the 13th pick here. Hightower has the potential to flourish and become one of the best on this defense.

14. Dallas Cowboys: Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

The 'Boys will be getting a steal here with Brockers, who is extremely impressive and has a ton of potential. They have other needs, but he is the best value at 14, and could turn into a star on their defensive line.

15. Philadelphia Eagles: Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College

Kuechly has bounced up and down my board, but the Eagles' need for somebody who can tackle will have them taking him here.

16. New York Jets: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

I wish I could tell you what the Jets are doing this offseason, but it's nearly impossible to figure out. Either way, both Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow will need offensive help. Jeffery has a ton of upside and may very well be the next big deep threat in the NFL.

17. Cincinnati Bengals: Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor

Wright projects very nicely in this offense as a compliment to WR A.J. Green.

18. San Diego Chargers: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina

Coples' stock has been all over the board this offseason, but the Chargers are desperate and will take the risk on him. He has the potential to be a great defensive end in this league.

19. Chicago Bears: Cordy Glenn, OT/G, Georgia

The Bears need a left tackle and Glenn can be the perfect fit. He can play either guard or tackle, but the Bears will use him as a huge and speedy bookend to protect Jay Cutler and help the running game.

20. Tennessee Titans: Courtney Upshaw, LB/DE, Alabama

Upshaw may be a steal here. He can play either linebacker or defensive end and based on the Titans needs, I see them moving him down on the line and asking him to cause havoc off the edge.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina

Gilmore is a very underrated name, but he has a ton of talent. The Bengals took care of offense with their first pick and now they will fortify their defense.

22. Cleveland Browns: Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech

The addition of this speedy wideout plus Richardson in the backfield will give Browns QB Colt McCoy zero reason to fail.

23. Detroit Lions: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

The Lions need a shutdown corner and Jenkins has top-15 talent. He's fallen because of potential character concerns, but he's far too talented for this corner desperate team to pass on.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Adams, LT, Ohio State

Adams is a huge prospect at left tackle and he has all the raw abilities to be great. This is somewhat of a stretch for the Steelers, but the need is there.

25. Denver Broncos: Jonathan Martin, LT, Stanford

Protecting Peyton Manning is the No. 1 priority here. Martin is also somewhat of a stretch, but he's capable and can be coached up.

26. Houston Texans:  Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers

Sanu is speedy and can get behind the defense. Should make for a dangerous complement for Andre Johnson.

27. New England Patriots (via Saints): Fletcher Cox, DE, Mississippi State

If the Patriots stay here, they will take Cox in the hopes that he'll flourish in their defensive scheme.

28. Green Bay Packers: Whitney Mercilus, LB, Illinois

Mercilus was a sack machine last season. The Packers will take him with the thought of putting him across from Clay Matthews and unleashing them both on their respective edges.

29. Baltimore Ravens: Rueben Randle, WR, LSU

The Ravens desperately need help at wide receiver, so they'll stretch here.

30. San Francisco 49ers: Kelechi Osemele, G, Iowa State

Osemele is not a first-round talent, but the 49ers have done such a good job filling their needs this offseason that they'll be able to take a chance on him. He's very big and has raw ability, but he's going to have to be coached into a legitimate NFL lineman.

31. New England Patriots: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

I have no doubts the Patriots will take a chance on a somewhat risky corner here, especially with their needs in the secondary.

32: New York Giants: Chris Polk, RB, Washington

Brandon Jennings is no longer in the Giants' backfield, so they'll go ahead and draft the better version of him. Polk has the potential to be a star in the NFL. He's quick, runs downhill and can make things happen out of the backfield. He will thrive in the Giants' system.
