St. Louis Rams: Tuesday's News, Nuggets and Notes at Noon
Welcome to Tuesday's St. Louis Rams "News, Nuggets and Notes at Noon", the one stop locale for all major Rams' headlines and related info available at the same time and place each day.
For yet another day, the Gregg Williams "bountygate" story is dominating Rams headlines.
Gregg Williams and the Bounty Scandal
Yesterday, Williams was to meet with the NFL security department regarding his role in the infamous "pay for performance" program that was utilized under Williams' watch in New Orleans from 2009-2011.
It is expected that he will receive a significant suspension for his role there. Peter King of Sports Illustrated does not rule out the possibility that the Rams defensive coordinator could be suspended for the entirety of the 2012 season. King looks into the potential fates of others involved in the above linked piece, too.
Will Williams be fired by the Rams? Bernie Miklasz shares his views on that topic in detail here for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Alvin Reid for 101sports.com also weighs in on the topic, suggesting that Williams deserves harsh punishment for his role in the aforementioned scandal.
Miklasz also shares his take in a separate column regarding Williams and the bounty probe, suggesting that the entire issue raises questions about the NFL.
Miklasz shares some very interesting quotes from former Rams middle linebacker London Fletcher, who played for Williams in Buffalo and Washington. Fletcher shares some interesting insight from his experience there in the piece available here from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Tony Softi of 101sports.com asserts that NFL security is no joke, sharing insight from his 15 years of league experience (11 as a front-office executive).
Finally, as for this topic, Howard Balzer of previously mentioned 101sports.com suggests that NFL players are wondering who is the snitch regarding this situation.
2012 Free Agency
With the 2012 free-agency period now edging ever so near, Nick Wagoner of stlouisrams.com produced a preview of the offensive linemen, as well as the wide receivers and tight end positions.
In other news, thankfully, Charles Casserly of CBS Sports recently analyzed 10 high-profile draft prospects who are set to have pivotal pro days.
Some of those include running back Trent Richardson of Alabama, wide receiver Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State and defensive tackle Michael Brockers of LSU.
Should the Rams Draft Robert Griffin III and trade Sam Bradford?
Today, I presented the case for doing just that. I shared the seven foundations I will use if I were making an argument to trade Bradford and draft RG3.
Let me be absolutely clear, however: The Rams have made it clear that they are not trading Bradford and I do not feel that they should, either.
I am simply sharing seven reasons why one could justify considering such a move. Again, I am in no way suggesting such a thing.
Have a great day, STL Rams nation.
