2012 NFL Mock Draft: Full First-Round Predictions After Week 17
Now that the NFL playoffs are just about set, most teams are reviewing their plans for next season, starting with who they will draft in April. No fan likes to be done early, but it's exciting to begin thinking about what your team will look like when the 2012 season rolls up.
Without further ado, here is my 2012 NFL mock draft.
1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
1 of 32If you're a Colts fan, you can probably order your Andrew Luck jerseys now. The question isn't what they do with their pick, it is what they do with Peyton Manning.
2. St. Louis Rams: Matt Kalil, OT, USC
2 of 32The Rams have invested a lot into their offensive line, but it just hasn't panned out. Matt Kalil is clearly the best tackle in football, and St. Louis would solve a lot of problems on its line by adding him.
3. Minnesota Vikings: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
3 of 32The Vikings have the worst secondary in football. Taking the best corner in the draft at this spot is a no-brainer, but don't be surprised if they trade down for someone wanting to get Robert Griffin III.
4. Cleveland Browns: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
4 of 32The Browns need a major jolt to their offense. A quarterback like Griffin is exactly what the Browns need to get back to relevancy.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona State
5 of 32The biggest reason for the Bucs' demise has been on defense. A tough leader like Burfict would be just what they need to fix their horrific run defense.
6. Washington Redskins: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
6 of 32Blackmon is the best receiver in this year's draft class, and adding him would address a position that is very weak for the Redskins. With RG3 gone and Barkley going back to USC, this is their best option.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
7 of 32The Jaguars have the worst receiving corps in football. If Blackmon is gone, they will take Jeffery, and vice versa.
8. Carolina Panthers: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
8 of 32The Panthers turn their attention to the defensive side this offseason. Kirkpatrick is the best player available.
9. Miami Dolphins: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
9 of 32They do have Thomas and Bush, but Richardson has too much ability to pass on. They could have one of the best backfields in football with Richardson in the mix.
10. Buffalo Bills: Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
10 of 32The Demetrius Bell experiment has all but failed. Martin would be an immediate upgrade to an offensive line that really struggled as the season went on.
11. Seattle Seahawks: Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma
11 of 32The Seahawks would be a pretty good football team, if it weren't for that pesky quarterback position. Jones has had a disappointing senior season, but he is the best prospect on the board at this spot.
12. Kansas City Chiefs: Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
12 of 32The Chiefs line has been a little inconsistent this year. They could get great value if Reiff falls this far.
13. Arizona Cardinals: Cordy Glenn, OT, Georgia
13 of 32Levi Brown my just be the worst starting offensive lineman in football. Taking a lineman here is almost a necessity for the Cardinals.
14. Philadelphia Eagles: Zach Brown, OLB, North Carolina
14 of 32The Eagles don't have a lot of holes, but they have not gotten good play from their linebackers this season. Brown is the best linebacker on the board.
15. New York Jets: Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama
15 of 32New York's defense would be pretty special if the Jets could just get that elusive pass rusher. Upshaw would be a great fit as a 3-4 linebacker.
16. San Diego Chargers: David DeCastro, G, Stanford
16 of 32The Chargers have had a lot of issues on their line. If Kris Dielman does in fact retire, they will need someone to replace him.
17. Cincinnati Bengals (from Oakland): Janoris Jenkins, CB, Florida
17 of 32The Bengals have shown how much worse off they are on defense without Leon Hall. They could go back to having two stud corners with Jenkins on one side.
18. Chicago Bears: Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
18 of 32The Bears solved their right tackle situation last offseason with the Gabe Carimi pick. They can get Cutler's blind-side protector with this pick.
19. New York Giants: Peter Konz, C, Winconsin
19 of 32The Giants offensive line has been lousy all season, especially on the interior. If they can get an interior guy in the draft, they can move David Diehl back to tackle.
20. Tennessee Titans: Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
20 of 32The Titans have lacked a stud player on either side of the ball, and need a replacement for Jason Babin on the edge.
21. Denver Broncos: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
21 of 32The Broncos have to be thrilled that Floyd lasted this long. Whoever their quarterback is next year will love having Floyd in this mix of receivers.
22. Dallas Cowboys: Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
22 of 32The Cowboys have been struggling in the secondary all season, as their players are just too old or fragile. Adding a corner would go a long way in improving this defense.
23. Cincinnati Bengals: David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech
23 of 32The Bengals can use their extra first-round pick as a bit of a "luxury pick" on a game-changing back in Wilson. He has some return ability as well.
24. Houston Texans: Nick Toon, WR, Wisconsin
24 of 32When Andre Johnson goes down, the Texans do not have much else at receiver. Toon will give them added depth to survive more injuries to their star receiver.
25. Atlanta Falcons: Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina
25 of 32Outside of John Abraham, the Falcons don't have anyone to get after the quarterback. Adding Ingram to the rotation would do a lot for the rest of this defense.
26. Detroit Lions: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
26 of 32The Lions defense would be one of the NFL's best if it had some quality cover guys. Gilmore is as NFL-ready as any corner in the draft.
27. Pittsburgh Steelers: Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
27 of 32It's only a matter of time until Rashard Mendenhall gets injured. Miller is just the kind of do-it-all kind of back the Steelers covet and is great value at this point in the draft.
28. Baltimore Ravens: Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
28 of 32If the Ravens can add another receiver, they can move Anquan Boldin to the slot, where he can really do some damage.
29. New England Patriots (from New Orleans): Jared Crick, DE, Nebraska
29 of 32Crick is a versatile player than can line up anywhere in the Patriots front. The Patriots defense has relied on veterans for a long time, and some young blood would go a long way.
30. San Francisco 49ers: Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers
30 of 32Braylon Edwards obviously did not work out as a threat opposite Michael Crabtree. Sanu is a versatile guy who has lined up at running back, wide receiver and even quarterback for Rutgers.
31. New England Patriots: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
31 of 32The Patriots defense lacks a pass rush more than anything else. If the Patriots keep playing in 4-3 looks, Coples would be a great fit.
32. Green Bay Packers: Devon Still, DE, Penn State
32 of 32The Packers have sorely missed the play of Cullen Jenkins this year. He can be an immediate starter in the Packers' struggling defense.
