We know the Packers are in it; we know the Patriots are in.

But what about the San Diego Chargers or the Seattle Seahawks?

Some teams that you may not expect are still clinging onto playoff hopes. You could say that they are just barely holding onto a cliff, but nonetheless, they are holding on.

5. San Diego Chargers

After opening up 4-1, the Chargers lost six straight games. They have won their last three, however, to even out their record at 7-7.

The story in the AFC West is of course Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos, yet no one should ever discount the Chargers in December.

Philip Rivers has been fantastic throughout his career during the Christmas month, and it will only take one loss by the Denver Broncos to give the Chargers control.

4. Seattle Seahawks

It's a long shot, but it's possible.

The Seattle Seahawks have been on a tear, led by a surprisingly good defense and a Marshawn Lynch-led offense.

They will need to win out and need some help from either the Atlanta Falcons or the Detroit Lions, yet the Seahawks show no signs of slowing down. Beast mode is what they are.

3. Arizona Cardinals

The Seahawks' AFC West foes, the Arizona Cardinals, need even more help than the Seahawks, yet they are still gasping for a taste of playoff air.

The Cardinals will need the Seahawks to lose at least one of their remaining games and will then need to Detroit Lions or the Atlanta Falcons to lose out, yet crazier things have happened.

Either way, the Cardinals should celebrate a solid defense and impressive performances from sophomore quarterback John Skelton.

This was supposed to be a very off year in the desert, yet the Cardinals have kept it exciting.

2. Tennessee Titans

People must be awfully bitter in Nashville right now after the Titans put themselves in a very tough playoff position after losing to the previously winless Indianapolis Colts

That game was a stinker, yet the Titans still have an outside shot of getting in.

There is one wild-card spot available in the AFC, because the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Baltimore Ravens (whoever doesn't win the AFC North) hold the other one.

The Titans have to compete with the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Jets. They need help from those teams, but their first and most important concern should be to win out and finish 9-7.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

Everyone really bashed the Eagles when they didn't come out swinging this season.

I don't know for sure if the Eagles ever declared themselves a "dream team," but everyone else sure did. After some big-time signings during the offseason and then being led by quarterback Michael Vick on top of that, everyone foresaw the Eagles doing big things.

At 6-8, this is not the season that many people predicted for them. Still, however, they have a shot at the NFC East title, thanks in large part to the New York Giants' and the Dallas Cowboys' inconsistency.

If the Eagles win out, they need two things:

a.) The New York Jets to beat the New York Giants on Christmas Eve.

b.) The New York Giants to then beat the Dallas Cowboys on New Year's Day.

The NFC East loves inconsistency, so this a realistic option.
