NFL Picks Week 5: Best Bet for Each Afternoon Game

There are only three afternoon games this week, but there is a solid play available in each. So, if you are looking to break even from a rough morning, or looking to keep your hot hand going, you have come to the right place.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers

Play: Buccaneers +3

The betting public has no idea what to do with either of these teams. They are both 3-1, but neither has done anything particularly well.

That said, the Bucs are a more balanced team on offense and defense. The 49ers are going to have a very hard time moving the ball on the Bucs.

And while the Bucs will have a hard time on the ground against a stiff 49ers rush they will be able to do some damage in the air against a poor 49ers pass defense.

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos

Play: Chargers -3.5

The Chargers offense has been decent, but not spectacular. That is going to change this week. The Broncos pass defense is falling apart.

Anyone who saw Aaron Rodgers shredding this defense last week also saw Packers receivers running wide open all over the field.

Philip Rivers is going to have his way with this secondary, and there is no way the Broncos will be able to keep this one within a touchdown, let alone four points. 

New York Jets at New England Patriots

Play: Over 50.5

Last season the Jets defense was one of the few that found any success against the Patriots offense. This is not last season. The Jets defense has seemingly grown old and slow overnight. They are having a hard time stopping anyone.

Meanwhile the Patriots have found a rushing game to give their offense balance. This makes them almost impossible to defend. They are going to put up huge points in this one.

And the Jets offense will find some success as well. Teams are shredding the Patriots secondary. Mark Sanchez and the Jets passing attack will have their opportunity to score some points.
