Week 5 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Fantasy Football: Santonio Holmes and 3 Must Start WRs

Matt FaulconerOct 7, 2011

Your fantasy football season is well underway, and your team is on the ropes.

You need a victory this week or your team will fall to 2-3. That's not a situation you want to be in, there is no doubt about that.

It's time to dial 911 and get some help.

Here are three mid-tier WRs who should be in your lineup this week.

Santonio Holmes (New York Jets)

Are you fed up with the Jets star receiver?

Are you so sick of him that you threw him on the bench for a player like Eric Decker or David Nelson?

Now would be the right time to jump back on the Holmes bandwagon. Despite putting up basically nothing against the Baltimore Ravens, Holmes was targeted on 12 occasions.

Things should come much easier against the New England Patriots, who have one of the worst secondaries in the NFL.

If there is a week that Holmes will explode, it is this week.

Percy Harvin (Minnesota Vikings)

Harvin has put up double digit points in points-per-reception leagues over the past three weeks. He hasn't been overly productive, but he has been consistent for much of the season in said leagues.

This should be Harvin's week to explode, as the Minnesota Vikings face the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals pass defense has been abysmal to this point in the season.

This is Donovan McNabb's last stand. He is going to tune in for this game, or else he will find himself on the bench. He should step up this week, and if he is wise, he will find Harvin on a regular basis.

Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis Colts)

With Peyton Manning out of the lineup, Wayne's fantasy value has dropped significantly. However, the Colts face the Kansas City Chiefs this week, and Curtis Painter may get a shot at leading the team once again.

Wayne hasn't been targeted less than eight times this season. He is due for a breakthrough, and it should come against the Chiefs.
