NFL Power Rankings: Tennessee Titans and 3 Overachieving Teams That Will Fall

There are some big surprises in the power rankings of the NFL. Some of those surprises are ready to start coming back down to earth. Like the Titans and the other two following teams. 

No. 8 Tennessee Titans

The Titans are off to an impressive 3-1 start and they have done it largely without Chris Johnson. Johnson has only made a real impact in the Titans' last win.

Matt Hasselbeck has been leading the charge for the Titans offense, and they have been helped with solid defense.

The Titans are a solid and complete team. However, they are not the eighth-best team in the NFL. They will take a step back.

Chris Johnson and this running game is clearly not as strong as it once was, and the offense lost the ability to stretch the field once Kenny Britt went down. This will take its toll.

No. 12 Washington Redskins

The Redskins are winning with defense. Only once have they allowed a team to score more than 20 in a game and that was a 21-point outing by the Cardinals.

However, they have yet to have been tested by an excellent offensive team. They have also been assisted by good timing. They got a Giants team in Week 1 that was reeling from preseason injuries. They got a Cowboys team in Week 3 with a battered and bruised passing offense.

The Redskins will come back to earth and slide towards the middle of the pack.

No. 16 San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are winning with smoke and mirrors. Well, that and a good run defense and an easy schedule. Their big comeback against the Eagles last week is impressive until you consider the Eagles aren't very good.

The 49ers are entering a stretch of five straight games against teams with winning records.

The 49ers will not have a winning record by the time that stretch is over.
