Fantasy Football Rankings Week 5: Top 10 Players at Every Position

0 of 6

Four weeks in we've hit the quarter pole of most fantasy football leagues, and while some teams are trying to keep the right kind of streaks going and others trying desperately to end the wrong kind, all fantasy football owners have a common dilemma: It's bye week time.

Keeping in mind that the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins are taking a siesta this week (so starting someone from those teams would be kind of silly), here are the top 10 fantasy plays at each position for Week 5 of the 2011 season.

1. Aaron Rodgers and the Top 10 Quarterback Plays

1 of 6

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady finally came back to earth a bit in Week 4, while his counterpart in Green Bay went ballistic to the tune of six total touchdowns, so it's Aaron Rodgers who headlines the top 10 quarterback plays this week.

    1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (at ATL)

    2. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (vs. CHI)

    3. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles (at BUF)

    4. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (at CAR)

    5. Tom Brady, New England Patriots (vs. NYJ)

    6. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (vs. NO)

    7. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (at DEN)

    8. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo Bills (vs. PHI)

    9. Mark Sanchez, New York Jets (at NE)

    10. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons (vs. GB)

2. Arian Foster and the Top 10 Running Back Plays

2 of 6

Running back Arian Foster of the Houston Texans looked fully recovered from his hamstring injury in gashing the Pittsburgh Steelers for over 150 yards last Sunday, and with a favorable matchup on tap against the Oakland Raiders, Foster sits atop the list of top plays at the position for this week.

    1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans (vs. OAK)

    2. Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills (vs. PHI)

    3. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders (at HOU)

    4. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings (vs. ARI)

    5. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears (at DET)

    6. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles (at BUF)

    7. Chris Wells, Arizona Cardinals (at MIN)

    8. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. CIN)

    9. Ryan Matthews, San Diego Chargers (at DEN)

    10. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans (at PIT)

3. Calvin Johnson and the Top 10 Wide Receiver Plays

3 of 6

Given that Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson just set an NFL record by catching two touchdown passes in each of his first four games of the season, it's a pretty safe bet that he'll be the first name you see on a list of top wideout plays for Week 5.

    1. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions (vs. CHI)

    2. Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons (vs. GB)

    3. Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants (vs. SEA)

    4. Wes Welker, New England Patriots (vs. NYJ)

    5. Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers (at ATL)

    6. Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals (at MIN)

    7. Brandon Lloyd, Denver Broncos (vs. SD)

    8. Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers (vs. NO)

    9. Steve Johnson, Buffalo Bills (vs. PHI)

    10. Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs (at IND)

4. Rob Gronkowski and the Top 10 Tight End Plays

4 of 6

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was nearly invisible last week, with only one catch for 15 yards against the Oakland Raiders, but with wide receiver Wes Welker set to spend this Sunday on Revis Island, Gronkowski should rebound, making him the top fantasy tight end player this weekend.

    1. Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots (vs. NYJ)

    2. Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers (at ATL)

    3. Owen Daniels, Houston Texans (vs. OAK)

    4. Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints (at CAR)

    5. Brandon Pettigrew, Detroit Lions (vs. CHI)

    6. Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons (vs. GB)

    7. Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers (vs. TB)

    8. Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers (vs. NO)

    9. Dustin Keller, New York Jets (at NE)

    10. Jermaine Gresham, Cincinnati Bengals (at JAX)

5. Jason Hanson and the Top 10 Kicker Plays

5 of 6

Trying to predict fantasy kickers can be a real kick in the...but anyway, with the Detroit Lions set to play their first Monday night home game since the invention of flat screen TVs, Jason Hanson's as good a bet as any, so he's the top kicker on the list this week.

    1. Jason Hanson, Detroit Lions (vs. CHI)

    2. Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers (at ATL)

    3. Neil Rackers, Houston Texans (vs. OAK)

    4. Shane Gostkowski, New England Patriots (vs. NYJ)

    5. John Kasay, New Orleans Saints (at CAR)

    6. Nick Novak, San Diego Chargers (at DEN)

    7. Rian Lindell, Buffalo Bills (vs. PHI)

    9. Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders (at HOU)

    10. Matt Bryant, Atlanta Falcons (vs. GB)

6. Green Bay Packers and the Top 10 Team Defense Plays

6 of 6

The Green Bay Packers are one of two undefeated teams remaining in the National Football League, and when an opportunistic defense faces an error prone offense (such as the Atlanta Falcons have been to this point in the 2011 season), they're a safe bet as a top team defense play.

    1. Green Bay Packers (at ATL)

    2. Detroit Lions (vs. CHI)

    3. New Orleans Saints (at CAR)

    4. New York Giants (vs. SEA)

    5. Minnesota Vikings (vs. ARI)

    6. Tennessee Titans (at PIT)

    7. San Francisco 49ers (vs. TB)
