2008 NFL Mock Draft: Oakland Raiders

SeanMC is no Al Davis fan—but that won't stop him from getting in the head of the senile dinosaur to gauge the Raiders' plans for the fourth pick in the 2008 Draft.

The Longest Mock Draft in NFL History Continues...

Time for everyone's favorite joke of an NFL franchise, the Oakland Raiders.

They're picking fourth in my mock draft for reasons previously discussed (click here for a detailed explanation).

Quick disclaimer: As you may have already guessed, I hate the Oakland Raiders, their fans, their players, their owner, their city, their stadium, their cheerleaders—OK, I don’t hate the cheerleaders, but you get the point.

For the benefit of everyone, I’ve decided to start a “Why I hate everything about the Raiders” list (feel free to add your own reasons):

1)    Their fans and players refuse to accept the fact that the “Tuck Rule” game was NFL karma getting them back for the “Phantom Roughing the Passer” Game.

2)    Al Davis is one of the largest schmucks in the history of professional sports.

3)    Their fans are insane—and not in a “we support our team” kind of way.  More of a “we think Halloween costumes scare the opposing teams and intimidate their fans, but in reality they make us all look like morons” kind of way.

4)    They moved from L.A. to Oakland, and now have the nerve to complain that the NFL wants to put another team in Los Angeles.

5)    They traded Randy Moss for a fourth round pick.  A FOURTH ROUND PICK!?!  Are you kidding me?

I reserve the right to add to this list based on whatever comments the list generates.

Admittedly, this also might not be the best time for me to write this column.

I’m still extremely bitter about the Super Bowl and might be inclined to take out my bitterness on Al Davis and his marauding costumed morons.

(Not too bitter, right?)

The one thing I actually liked about the Raiders was their head coach, and Al “Skeletor” Davis is trying to run him out of town in favor of Denny “THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE” Green.

Denny is a great sound-bite, and a decent motivator, but he’s perpetually underachieved as a head coach, especially in the playoffs.

As Denny himself would say, HE IS WHO WE THINK HE IS!

Why not stick with the new blood?

By all accounts, there was a better atmosphere in Oakland this season. Kiffin knows which players he wants to keep and which players he needs to get rid of. Give him another season.

Of course, Al Davis would rather shoot for a world record:  Most head coaches in one decade by an NFL franchise.

The Pick: DeSean Jackson, WR, California

This is not the pick they SHOULD make, this is the pick they WILL make.

I’m sure, somewhere in Al Davis’ insane and half-retarded mind, the Raiders’ pathetic 2007 season was entirely due to bad coaching and the loss of Randy Moss.

I’m just as sure that he’ll use the 2008 NFL Draft to find Moss’ replacement, ignoring the running game, the defensive line, the offensive line, and the rest of his pathetic team’s deficiencies.

Not that DeSean Jackson isn’t a pretty good WR prospect. I think he'll be a fine NFL wide receiver.

He's lightning fast. I’ve seen his 40-time clocked as low as 4.27.

He’s clearly the best WR in the draft. He can make an impact immediately as a returner, and on the Raiders he probably steps in as the #1 option for JaMarcus Russell (who should see the bulk of the playing time at QB in 2008).

He’s a good pick…he’s just not the 3rd or 4th best player in the draft. I'm not even sure he's in the top-10.

Who They Should Pick: Chris Long, DE, Virginia

Chris Long is a guy that some people have coming off the board as the first overall pick.  He would be a fantastic pick for the Raiders for a plethora of reasons, not the least of which being they need some D-line help with Sapp leaving.

Howie Long, Chris Long’s dad, played for the Raiders. So Chris is already a part of Raider Nation.

I just don’t see Al Davis making the smart pick here. He’s the type that falls in love with skill position players. So don’t expect Chris Long to go to his Dad’s former team.

Even if it would have been the right move.

Who They Might Pick: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas

If they don’t go WR with this pick, expect them to grab Darren McFadden.

This might not be a bad decision, considering the state of their running game for most of the 2007 season. But Justin Fargas looked good towards the end of the season, and they still have Michael Bush waiting in the wings.

I’m not sure even Al Davis wants to take a running back this high given what’s already on his roster. Plus, if McFadden gets picked here, we don’t get to see anymore uncomfortable ESPN draft-day camera shots.

We know, ESPN knows, and the Raiders know this is the best part of the draft day coverage. I fully expect ESPN to tell Al Davis that McFadden isn’t available anymore (and Davis will believe them, because he’s old and senile) so he doesn’t ruin it for everyone.

I’m SeanMC.

  1. Another great mock draft column. First they need to re-sign Fargas--who was of course, their best RB in 07-08. The defense also needs major work. A receiver is exactly what they need because Jerry Porter is really the only guy worth talking about, and he could use some help. And finally, hopefully JaMarcus Russell won't be a bust in 2008.

    1. Thanks for the compliments!

I loved JaMarcus Russell as a QB coming out, but coaching is extremely important in a young QBs development. If Al Davis keeps tinkering with the coaching staff, it could retard his development irreparably.

I mean, maybe Akili Smith could have been a good QB if it wasn't for the Bengals coaching staff?

Maybe Peyton Manning wouldn't have become Peyton Manning if the Chargers had drafted him? Ditto for Ryan Leaf if the Colts had drafted him (opposite results, obviously).

I agree they need a WR, but to me, the smart move would be to trade down and take DeSean sometime later in the first round....it's not like more picks wouldn't help the Raiders...they could use as many good, young players as possible.

    2. You hate to see a young player with a lot of promise - like Russell - underachieve because of a lack of leadership. The Raiders need to get a coach and stick with him. Al Davis is losing it. He's like Castro - an outdated dictator..

  2. Jmac will be a bust in 08!!!! He will be unable to read the D and say in the pocket, he'll throw at leat 12 ints and be benched by mid season. Jmac has a great arm, but he isn't a leader, shouldn't have drafted him...Same ole' Raiders. Draft Long, he will make an instant impact on the D and you need him to compete with us. Brady Don't F#$% with the Tuck! Moss and the Patriots are done, Say Hi to the Raiders when your down there Moss...GO BOLTS!!!!

    1. Bolts Go Where? Not the Super Bowl. Not with that pouting RB and Jaw Jacking (but full of heart) QB. Let's see if they get another bite at the apple.....I don't think so.
War Jr. Seau coming back to the Chargers.....to re-re-graduate.

  3. Great article. (Can't wait until you get to my Viking's :D) I love the way you write, man!

I agree with Michael. If they want to compete in the least next year, they need to re-sign Fargas. They won't have an offense without him!

I think that the next step would be for them to work out the issues with their coaching...either fire Kiffin or keep him already you idiot!

I expect some humor from this part of the draft. Watch, they'll probably end up taking Dan Conner, or somebody else.

    1. Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

  4. Al Davis is not despised. As someone who's brother worked for the Raiders for 3 years, Al Davis is the most loved person in the entire organization. Is he senile? Yes. Do his decisions make any sense? No. But the man is truly beloved by everyone in the Raider organization because he's possibly the nicest guy in the NFL.

    1. Someone has to give me a definitive answer on this:

Does Al Davis actually watch 10 hours of film a day the way the local Bay Area radio guys claim?

I buy the fact that he's still hands on and has a great work ethic...but is he really that together...really? Because from an outsiders perspective, he sure doesn't seem that together.

But regardless of the speculation regarding his level of "togetherness", no matter how much you love him, you can't argue that he's not letting his ego get in the way of his football team. You can pin the draft picks on bad luck, but the coaching hires and resulting carousal are on Davis. Time for him to swallow his pride, and give up some control to a "real" head coach, and let the puppet act go.

  5. Sean Crowe, what fucking moron! LOL . You're calling the Raiders a joke? LOL. Your team is the biggest joke in sports right now and was a joke pre-2002. Your team just chocked away the superbowl and nice to take it out on the RAIDAZ. Your inbred ass needs to understand that you're done. DONE! No more cheatriots! As for the Raiders, we're coming back no matter what idiots like you have to say.

    1. Yes the Raiders are coming back, to pick in the top five of the draft once again. The Patriots are the easiest team to ridicule right now, unless of course you are a Raiders fan.

  6. Oh I completely agree that Davis has to go, but the problem remains that everyone in the organization loves the guy. I don't care if he remains in the Raider organization in some capacity, but he should step down as owner.

  7. Sean Crowe, typical Raider hater. If thats the best you can come up with, your column is in danger. The Raiders greatly improved this last season. There were far more positives than negatives, and they did it with a rookie Head Coach(first year even being a Head Coach on any level). Don't be surprised if the Raiders go from worst to first in AFC West in the 08 season. JaMarcus Russell may not be the savior, but it's a great place to start. Oh, when it comes to the Patriots, "CHEATERS" never prosper!!!

  8. FOR HATING THE RAIDERS YOU SURE DO SPEND SOME TIME DISCUSSING AND ANALYIZING THEM. TOOL

  9. Ah yes, another Raider hater. They hate us, because deep down, deep, deep down, they really love us. So they spend countless hours posting on our threads, and writing articles about how we are this and that, and our owner is this and that. In the end, we just laugh at the haters. They actually convince themselves they hate us, when they really love us.

Then agian, since 95% of Pats fans are bandwagon jumpers, and never owned anything with a Pats logo before they won a superbowl.

Or maybe its the fact that other teams have hardly any posts on their threads most the time unless it has the name Raiders in it.

Keep hating us, and I know you guys and gals will! Haters can only hate if there is something worth hating.... One nation... and this one's for the haters out there... Raider Nation... Silver and Black 4 life!

    Deal with It!

    1. Two things:

      1) At least I admit right off the top that I hate the Raiders.
      2) I didn't go out of my way to write this...the Raiders had a first round pick. It's a mock draft. Nothing I could do. Bound by commitment.

  10. dont think the guy knows football its eli not peyton that had cryed about being traded to NY and what the raiders need is not a RB but a DT not a END their is nothing in the middle to stop the run and thats what they need WR is a need but can be picked up in later rounds or threw FA

  11. is this the same sports writer that was hanging on raider scrotum from 1999-2002? like they all were, fuckin hypocrites

    1. I thought they executed the unibomber

You need to go down to the nearest mental hospital and surrender

If your lucky they might waterboard you after the electroshock

Next time try breaking the prozacs in half

    2. I thought they executed the unibomber

You need to go down to the nearest mental hospital and surrender

If your lucky they might waterboard you after the electroshock

Next time try breaking the prozacs in half

  13. very deep draft at WR. Guys like Early Doucett, James Hardy, and Mario Mannigham should be there in the early second round with little dropoff from Jackson, Limas Sweed and Malcolm Kelly

  14. your pathetic, the raiders running game was in the top 5 all year long and to actually think that Al Davis would pick some Cal reciever before he'd take Chris Long. If there is one thing we know about his genuis its that he loves the history of the Raiders, and picking him would bring back the dominating defense of classic Raiders teams. Your astonishing hate for the Raiders makes you look unprofessional and makes you more of a moron than any of the fans in the black hole.... That Giants team reminded me of that Oakland team lead by Marcus Allen who SHUT DOWN a Washington Redskins team who scored the most points in NFL history, REVENGE from the game in the regular season, same as sunday.

Next year we're winning the west!

    1. Statistics lie.

Lamont Jordan is a complete and utter bust. He's a walking back injury. Dominic Rhodes was another complete bust. Justin Fargas was extremely good, a huge bright spot, but ended the season on IR. Michael Bush has talent, but is coming off a pretty significant injury.

If you're comfortable with that running game, all the power to you. That's why you're Raider Nation, I guess.

Your running game was good enough to win three games.

    2. Of course, I meant good enough to win four games. Sorry I didn't give the Raiders running attack the credit it deserved.

  15. was the state of our running game mean we lead the league the first month and finished sixth?

  16. oh and for one...
the tuck rule was BS... it wasnt the first call we've gotten that sucked so dont say it was karma..
and trading moss for a fouth round pick is good concidering he would of sat out the year anyways and cost us 8million and a roster spot... and its not like randy did anything this year... didnt even get a ring!

  17. san diego will never ever ever ever ever ever ever win a game in febuary.

  18. You guys are not taking into effect that the Raiders are going to go after Chad JOhnson, and Bernard Berrian, as deep threats, They WILL take McFadden if he is available, and that is the right move. If McFadden is taken by the Falcons, the Raiders will slide down to take DeSean Jackson, or James Hardy, making a few key acquisitions in the process (more Draft Picks) They will adress the other team needs in the second and third round, ie: defensive end, and an OL, with the picks from moving up. Don't write about the Raiders if you don't know what is going on.

    RAIDERS WINNING THE WEST!

    1. I'm not a big fan of the Chargers, but if I were, I would say something like "Doesn't LT own the Raiders?"

  19. Eff that nonsense speaking columnist who wrote this article...shoot you should be a comedian not a journalist you dumb tard...you made me laugh throughout the whole entire article just another reason why it goes to show how people just hate on the fact all oakland raiders players, fans, cheerleaders, stadium, city, and owner are HATED we have had our ups and downs but thats part of the game you sore loser...and there are crazy fans who wont mind putting a bullet through your temple but you just cant judge all fans off of one...another thing what we do in the offseason is none of your business all you have to worry about is writing another article and making sure you include where you got your butt kicked by a raider fan LOL dont take it serious man your not that bad i mean like i said your on all raider fans nutz so once you can stop on the hate then go back to writing your fairy tale stories where you get laid!!!

    1. Glad I made you laugh... Still not sure what pays more, sports journalism or comedy... Trying to keep my options open...

    2. who the hell is this anonymous raiders character. the raiders have sucked all along with AL DAVIS at the helm. get the old bat out before he dies after they make the playoffs ever again. boy sean do i agree with you on the raiders they sign every single regect in football. mabe they should go get vick when he gets out of prision. oh yeah there is no chance any team will sign him to play nfl ever again. unless your the raiders. now we move to the patriots the one time they could change history they blow the load big time. they are cheaten bastards anyway. i was laughing my ass off when the patriots could not get the hero brady to bail them out. then there is moss who thought the game was over when he scored. well playa you lost holla back. the what the hell does cowboy bill think he is doing going to the locker room before the game was even over. what a huge ass wipe. now he knows what its like to lose when you can't cheat. enjoy costing your team a 1ST PICK NEEDED by the way with losing your entire secendary. bye bye chiefs for life

  20. Sean, I agree with your first three picks, but I'm not so sure about DeSean. He's basically the same prospect as Ted Ginn was a year ago. Super fast, potential to be an incredible return man, but...most likely not going to be a star #1 receiver because of his physical limitations. The thing about DeSean is that he disappeared in the biggest games of the season. At least Ginn was a gamer. DeSean is basically all talk, all stats and no performance. That's just me though. I see him as a #15 pick.

If McFadden drops to #4 the Raiders have to draft him. No question about it. Hell, the Cowboys want to trade away their pro bowl running back and two first rounders just to get him. I realize you want to make fun of the Raiders a little, but after Adrian Peterson inexplicably dropped to #7, teams won't make that mistake again.

    1. I agree. He's not the right pick, just the guy I think the Raiders will take...

  21. Thats what Im saying David, The Raiders would be retarded to pass on D Mac, for the simple fact they can profit off him by giving him away? Al Davis might be old, but he is not STUPID. He is still the winningest Owner in NFL history. did you get that sean? did you? J RUSS, D MAC, M BUSH, HIGGINS, AND HOPE JAMES HARDY FALLS INTO ROUND TWO. this will be and explosive offense, in the first season together, and young. 2008, Raider Nation

    1. The NFL is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league....and the Raiders haven't done much winning lately.

But they are GREAT at firing and replacing head coaches. Lane Kiffin seemed like a decent coach, so naturally Al Davis wrote him a resignation letter.

  22. This is not the pick they SHOULD make, this is the pick the WILL make.(What you wrote)

I am not going to harass you about what you said even though you sound to be very arrogant. But if you’re going to make fun of a franchise and their fans you really need to make sure your column is error proof and maybe even consider reading over your work. You write for a living to which is the really sad part I believe you meant they. That was not so hard and I am a twelve year old kid. So instead making us Oakland Raiders fans look like morons you really need to look in a mirror and see the moron before you who can not even check his work. Who is the schmuck now?

  23. Isn't every Raider draft a mockery? Just f#$%ing with you.

They need lots of help, though.
I miss the days when the Raiders were a perennial force in the AFC West.

I'm not sure why they have fallen on such hard times. Its much easier now for a team to worst to first in the NFL.
They can't sem to get it done.
My take is that they need consistency in the front office and on the sidelines and build from there.

  24. Nice column, as a life long Raider fan, I've accepted the Raiders fate as being an abysmal team as long as Al Davis is around. If McFadden is available, I think they'll get him. If thats the case, they need to seriously unload some players. Lamont Jordan has been a constant disappointment, Justin Fargas was good, but his running style is very reckless and more likely than not, he'll get hurt again. Dominic Rhodes I like, but if Michael Bush isnt limited by his injury, Id prefer Bush and Mcfadded sharing the RB spot.

Personally, I would love for the Raiders to trade down to the number 20 pick or so, and pick up James Hardy. Although slow, the Raiders have a speedster in Johnny Lee Higgins from last years draft who they can use to seperate the field. Porter will most likely go as hes opting out of his contract, and I think Hardy has the size and hands to be a very capable WR that JaMarcus can chuck it up to and have the ball snagged down.

  25. I can't see Oakland taking DeSean Jackson at #4, when he probably will be there between picks 15-20

They will try to go after Chris Long, and if he is not there (I think Miami will pick him) they will go with Glenn Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis.

  26. Highly doubt that the Raiders would take a WR. Davis likes to pick genetic freaks or people with a Raiders background, like McFaddon or Long. If they are available, its pretty much a done deal thats who is getting drafted. As for keeping Fargas, that would be a TERRIBLE idea. If you are talking about Lamont being a back injury waiting to happen, Fargas is just as injury prone. The guy runs straight up and goes full speed into LBs all game. He had 1 decent season last year, but just about any RB is serviceable in the new zone blocking scheme we've implemented.

As for hating on Raider fans, how about you grow the fuck up. The only fans we hate are bandwagon jumping bitches who only represent when their team is winning games. Come out to a Raiders tailgate with an open mind and you might understand that the raider nation is like a gigantic family, with a culture of its own. Instead, it sounds like you prefer hating on something you don't understand, like an ignorant bigot. The costumes are more than just trying to 'scare' the other team, jackass.

  27. Bolts are horrible roiding castillo and merriman have lost their edge---still good, but really getting knocked the f#$@ out by all 5'9 MAURICE DREW JONES,please those roids should be getting out of his system this season and he'll bite the injury bug....GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....Maybe we should try a trade for Drewjones so he can knock the F#$% OUT of him twice a year! Just a thought =)

  28. FARGAS has always run hard, real hard, look at the previous films when he got the ball. He has injuries, but come on Jordan was a horrible HB, and a cary baby at that. He is not a feature back. who's the HB in NY right now?, Yeah thats what I thought. STOP all this BS about a blocking scheme! Your full of crap.it's good coaching good running and OL busting ass on the field, ITS ABOUT HEART, FARGAS HAS HEART AND THATS WHY HE NEEDS TO BE SIGNED. If Fargas would have went to USC in the first place and not to M he would have been a 1 or 2 round pick. I highly doubt all those FOOLS posting about how anyone can do good in a scheme, you probably have never played HB or OL. You quote every stupid line you here.He has won the support of his team for this reason...SO SCHEME MY A$$

  29. Fargas IS NOT THE ANSWER. Simple as that. Look at the film? He has always run hard, right into the LBs. Hits the holes hard, but makes no moves after that. Jordan on the other hand likes to dance even before the line. Thats why he sucks donkey ba11$. Fargas is better and fits the Raiders scheme than Jordan, but that sure aint sayin much. You don't need to be a genius to figure out that the raiders focal point was the run last year, and Fargas was a big part of why. Unfortunately he wouldn't be a featured back anywhere else he goes. Sure, keep fargas on, just don't pay him big, otherwise its gonna bite the Raiders in the A$$ real fast. Love the guy for being a team player and all that, but if anyone thinks that Fargas can carry a team, they are EXTREMELY foolish.

  30. We will be a lot better next season wether you like it or not we should take chris long if he's not there we should go with D-mac and if he's not there dorsey lets go raiders! Lets go! Keep the faith raider nation we will be great again.

  31. LOL...this prick!! Sean your a faggot. u need to get laid man writing articles on ur hate towards the raiders is nonsense get a life write about the time you fell off your bike an went crying to your mom...seriously man the reason why the raiders dont win or go to the playoffs any more is cause the ref's are always on the opponents side...i see catch you doming up the ref's before every game just so the raiders can lose....there bitch you got caught so suck it...again!

    1. You should stay on your meds...

  32. People need to read all the way through the column before they start throwing hate around. Come on, Raider fans—do your Alameda County school system proud!

I like Justin Fargas—he has carried a heavy load for some fairly shitty offenses—but it's important to note that his success this year was largely the result of Lane Kiffin's offensive system, and not a sudden burst of greatness. Plug any equivalent back [or ideally, two] into the system who's willing to take the same number of low-yardage reps, and the stats will be about the same.

I like Fargas and I hope he stays in Oakland, but if some team's willing to drop 3 years/$18 mil on him, I say he should go for it, cash his check, and let the Raiders move the next in line into the starting spot.

Personally, I'm hoping that Michael Bush rehabs his way into Oakland's long-term plans, but I also had high hopes for the Mike Williams reclamation project, so who the hell knows.

I agree with you about Long—the Raiders' most pressing need is in the front seven on defense, although I'm more concerned with the depth at linebacker. But if JaMarcus doesn't have a good, tall target to throw to, he's gonna have to tuck the ball and run, and if he starts rushing 15-20 times a game, opposing defenses are gonna take his head off. Nothing's going to hinder a young player's development more than a 15-month rehab.

  33. Hey sean blow me you pathetic piece of shit

    1. He would but he's too busy banging your mom

      Did I say that?

      Must be the booze

  34. Stupid article. Good thing Sean still has his job flipping burgers at McDonalds!

    1. Hey, don't knock it until you tried it!!!!

  35. we cant say anything about al davis he has lets see 3 rings on his hands

    1. Correct, but the last ring is dated 1983. He's gone senile since then.
Just think of it this way...if you had a son in 1983, he'd be 25 this year

  36. He's a die-hard Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics fan. Sometimes he even acknowledges the Bruins existence.....

your typical "Raider Hater".... you root for the Celtics, a team that until now, couldnt win a WNBA game EVEN if Russell came back to play....go Lakers....

You root for the Red Soxs, a team that has the so call " bambino curse"...please...the Yankees have your number....

as for the patriots, well, they should be called the new CIA...spying on everyone...even with a "spygate video" patriots need a stupid "tuck rule" to come into play for them to win.....

    sign.....snoop....

    1. I enjoyed this comment. Please write again.

  37. They traded Randy Moss for a fourth round pick. A FOURTH ROUND PICK!?! Are you kidding me? I reserve the right to add to this list based on whatever comments the list generates.

this is funny....we trade Randy Moss for nothing..but the Pats still ended up 18-1...

the red sox trade the Babe Ruth and the yankees win 10+ WORDL SERIES.....NOW THATS COMEDY FOR YOU....

    Raider Nation....

    1. I'm so glad you commented twice. I'm not sure what I would have done with the last few seconds of my life had you not.

  38. Thats fuckin right anonymous, the pats are under achievers, they fuckin suck, the lambardi trophies should be took just because of Spygate, the raiders are the one and only champions, just expect jmac to exploit the pats sorry ass defense in 2008, and be sure to see brady leave out the game with a fuckin concusion.

    1. Anonymous agrees with Anonymous? I'm shocked!

  39. I am surprise you did not take a few second of your busy life hating the Raiders to write something constructive about how BB... and the Pats ended up 18-1......

    SNOOP.....

    1. Sure I did! http://bleacherreport.com/articles/8582-NFL-New_England_Patriots-New_York_Giants-Super_Bowl_XLII_Giants_Stay_Hot_Patriots_Fall_at_Destiny_s_Door-040208

By the way, 18 wins is exactly 14 more than the Raiders had this season!

      Have a great day!

  40. FUCK YEAH FUCK THE PATS...PEOPLE ACT AS IF THEY JUST STARTED CHEATING THIS YEAR... I WILL NEVER FORGET TEH SNOWBOWL JUST LIKE U SAID... THEY DID GET A SECOND CHANCE. AND YOU MR SEANMC. UR COLUMN SUCKS. IF YOUR GOING TO WRITE ABOUT A MOCK DRAFT KNOW YOUR FUCKEN FACTS. NO THEY DONT NEEED A DE . ARE U A DUMBASS? THEY HAVE BURGESS. CHRIS CLEMONS. AND JAY RICHARDSON WHO IS VASTLY IMPROVING. DONT KNOW WHO THEY ARE. DTEHN DO YOUR FUCKEN HOMEWORK. WHAT THE RAIDERS NEED IS A FORCE IN THE MIDDLE. I THINK THE SMART THING WOULD BE TO TRADE DOWN AND GET SEDDRICK ELLIS. OR TAKE GLENN DORSEY RIGHT OFF THE BAT. THAT WHAT THEY SHOULD DO NOT GET LONG. AND GETTING A DESHAUN JACKSON IS A REALLY STUPID MOVE AS WELL. HE WIEGHS LESS THAN 200 POUNDS. I THINK ITS 165 PUNDS THAT HE WEIGHS. THEY ALREADY HAVE A SPEEDY GUY IN CURRY. AS WELL AS HIGGINS. THEY WILL USE HIM IF HE LEARNS HOW TO CATH THE BALL. BUT MC UR SO WRONG ABOUT SO MANY THINGS IN THIS " MOCK DRAFT " . DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE WRITING ABOUT THIS GREAT ORGANIZATION OF OURS. AND WE ARE THE BEST FAN BASE IN THE L;EAGUE. WE ARE LOYAL. UNLIKE THE PATS FANS *COUGH* *COUGH*. AL DAVIS INST ONE OF THE LARGEST SCHMUCKS. HE HAS BEEN ONE OF THE GREATEST OWNERS. BUT IT IS TIME FOR HIM TO LET KIFFIN TAKE THE ROLE. BOOYAA SEANMC UR COLUMN SUCKED. JUST LIKE YOUR DUMBASS TEAM IN THE SUPERBOWL

    1. Long is a much, much better prospect than Ellis. Better run stopper. Better at getting to the quarterback. Maybe he could help Oakland with their propensity to become LT's bitch twice a year?

I understand Jackson is a bad pick. Don't we all expect the Raiders to do something stupid?

If Glenn Dorsey makes it past the Dolphins, he won't get past the Rams. It's a good dream though....

      Curry sucks. Higgins sucks.

My 4 year old types in all caps as well, by the way...

  41. Al Davis has worn out his welcome in Oakland. He's the reason the team is bad. Kiffin must stay if they want to win in 2008. I'm not saying he is a great coach, but he has this team wanting to play hard on Sunday. Next year the team will improve with Kiffin. You can't expect to win if you keep hiring new coaches every year, with different styles of play, and philosophies. They need to pick one QB for the season and stick with him. Jamarcus Russell will be a great player in 3-4 years. Play him in every game. Not just in the warm weather games, Al Davis. Why was he on the sideline for the game in Green Bay? And he was bundled up like an Eskimo. And worried that his $100,000.00 diamond ear rings would freeze.

  42. Davis may take a leap and take Mcfadden but Jackson is way to much of a reach. Al Davis is insane but not that insane.

    1. I disagree. I think he's slightly more insane than I'm giving him credit for.

  43. We don't want McFadden or Jackson. Both are very flawed players. We have enough of them already. McFadden has weak skinny legs, he goes down after first contact. He isn't built for the Raiders power run game. Michael Bush might be the guy. We'll see though. I've seen some very impressive highlights from Bush on Youtube.com. Fargas and Bush is all we need. As far as Jackson is concerned, he is about as skinny as a starving third world kid. He's a kick returner. Nothing more. He won't be the answer that the Raiders are looking for. Raiders need to make a trade. Maybe LaMont Jordan and someone else for Roy Williams. No Chad Johnson though. I don't want him on my team. He's just more trouble for us to deal with. He's unhappy with the Bengals, and he will be unhappier in Oakland. How about Bernard Berrian from the Bears if the Bears don't lock him up long term. Raiders need to take either DT Glenn Dorsey or DT Sedrick Ellis in the first round. WR's will be there in the second round. Maybe Early Doucet or Malcom Kelly. For right now the Raiders need to focus on re-signing CB Nnamdi Asomugha to a long term deal or they can plan on being at the bottom of the AFC West again in 2008. This just in Al Davis. Stop the run,and you'll win more games. It's not rocket science. Get a big play receiver too. If Al Davis even knows what a good receiver looks like these days, with his catarax and all.

    1. Not sure LaMont and anyone else gets Roy Williams. Bernard Berrian might be a decent option, but he's more of a deep threat than a number 1 guy. I think the Raiders need a number 1 guy.

I like the idea of giving Michael Bush and Fargas a chance to carry the load this season and drafting defense, I just don't trust the Raider braintrust to go that path.

    2. your completly right about who we should take ,OFFENSE sells tickets and DEFENSE wins Championships.1st pick Sedick Ellis, 2nd Early Doucet, 3rd Big 6,6 Troy James and I gotta give Huga bear jr his props Great job 2007 .Justin Fargas is the hardest working tailback in the NFL ,this year will be his year along with Super Back Michale Bush Strongest Duo in the NFL Peroid,We gotta go after a free agent or trade or forth round pick for Takeo Spikes or flip to a 3-4 defense. The Raiders Line Backers corp is so nasty that they will dare anyone to throw it.So with Spikes he would most def help stop the run

  44. Richard knows what he's talking about. I don't want McFadden, but Al might pick him to trade for a big time WR. Just food for thought. It would also be stupid for the Raiders to pick McFadden, when the already sighned Fargas to a 3 year deal for 12 million and change. Al Davis needs to go DT in the first round. If he doesn't, he's missing out of the two best possible DT in recent draft's. Jackson is a kick returner, nothing more. He's skinny and weak. First hit he takes, He'll be hurt. Forget Jackson. He's soft.

    1. Terry Glenn was skinny and weak coming out of college, but he ended up OK. Had a pretty decent career, even if it might be just about over now.

They key for a guy like Jackson is to not get hit...

Not sure why people aren't big on McFadden. I think he'll be a decent NFL runningback. Not an Adrian Peterson, but not a Blair Thomas either....

  45. He's soft.

  46. Raiders can forget about WR Bernard Berrian. The Bears just cut WR Mushin Muhamed. That means that the Bears are probably gonna sign WR Bernard Berrian to a long term contract. The Raiders are gonna have to look else where for a WR. There isn't many in free agency this year. They could trade, maybe. They are gonna have to hope that one of the top WR's in the draft drop to the second round. But that's not going to happen. They need to take either a DT or a WR in the first round. DT is their priority in the first round. Warren Sapp retired. They need either DT Glenn Dorsey or DT Sedrick Ellis, to sure up their run defense. Without a solid run defense, the Raiders will have another season where they lose games by 3 to 6 points, because they can't stop the run. No matter how good there running game and receivers are. The Raiders have to go needs over wants in the first round. I think that DE Derrick Burgess, DE Tommy Kelly, *DT Glenn Dorsey*, DT Terdell Sands, MLB Kirk Morrison, OLB Thomas Howard, and Micheal Huff moved to the FS position would stop the run, and give the Raiders the edge. Then all we need to do is try to find a good SS to help stop the run. A strong SS that can tackle, and one that has good instincts. If the Raiders sure up the defense. Then the offense doesn't have to be spectacular. What do you think about this idea SEAN? Oh yeah, I told you that Mc Fadden has weak legs. He couldn't Break one of my Grandmothers tackels! He's soft like Charmin. He might have a good game against my Raiders sorry ass run defense though. Cause my Raiders couldn't tackle their way out of a wet paper bag. Al Davis, if you don't pick one of those DT's in the first round, I'm gonna cancel my Direct TV Sunday Ticket. I wasted my money this year. Now I just watch the Lakers. i still have at least one good favorite team to watch. Eat shit and die!, Al Davis.

  47. And one more thing. If Al Davis Doesn't sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha to a long term deal. The Raiders might as well get really comfortable at the bottom of the AFC West. Best man-coverage CB in the NFL, and you don't want to pay him. Al Davis is one cheap son of a bitch. This looks like Charles Woodson all over again. I love the Raiders with everything in my heart, but I hate Al Davis. We need to draft a new owner and a GM. And stop drafting college track and field stars(Stanford Routt & Fabian Washington). And shitty Robert Gallery, who couldn't play LT on his fuckin' X-BOX. And I hate the Chargers! They're so good. They make me wanna puke, choke on it, and die. They're a bunch of roid rage-n, loud mouth scumbags! Phillip Rivers looks like he belongs on the front of a Lucky Charms box. And LT rips us a new ass every time we play them. He's a poor sport. He didn't even take his helmet off on the sidelines when the Gay-triots whooped the Chargers ass in the AFC Campionship this year. LT didn't want every one to see him crying like a little bitch on the sidelines. He only rushed for 55 yards against the Raiders 30th ranked defense in week 17. He still sucking on Marty Shottenheimer's dick. Norv Turner sucks as a head coach. If he was such an offensive genius. Then he would have kept LT in the AFC Championship game, and started a healthy Billy Volek, instead of that loud mouthed, bum knee'd leprechaun looking fagot Phillip Rivers.

  48. Oh yeah, the Raiders were responsible for that knee injury to Phillip Rivers in week 17. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Phillip Rivers must have forgot his lucky pot of gold that sunday. Stick to hearts, moons, horse shoes, rainbows, and clovers you marshmellow ass fagot! RAIDERS 4 LIFE BEEEE-ATCHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. Darren McFaggen and DeSean (''POTATO CHIP'') Jackson can go ride the pine somewhere else. We don't want weak ass bitches in Oakland.

  50. I'm on a fuckin' roll now!!!!!!! RAIDERS MA-FUCKUZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

  51. No offense Sean. Ur a good man. Keep on typing in the '08 dog. Ur my main shit stain.

    1. This was the most entertaining string of comments ever.

  52. I would hope that we could get a shot at Chris Long but I doubt that he will still be available when we pick..Can't you just picture Derrick Burgess (the one from 2006) on one side and Chris Long on the other and P. Rivers in the cross hairs!! He would not even have a chance to hand off to L T ..
Sure we need some help inside too, we need someone to stick a boot up Terdell Sands rear and get him to earn his paycheck, and if LB Sam Williams gets healthy We could have a dominant defense again!!
And we all know that winning in the NFL starts with DEFENSE...and more defense!!!
I am sorry you hate the Raiders Sean, They have been a fun team to watch over the years. The last decade or so has been a little lean barring the last superbowl fiasco(aka barret robbins implosion) We need to remember some of Al Davis' reclamation projects that succeeded, Jim Plunket, Matusak, Rich Gannon etc.. The move to L. A . and back I did not care for, and I must admitt I have some doubt about many of his personel decisions in recent years. I would really like to see him let Lane Kiffen have his head for a couple of years. The man seems to have a pretty firm grasp of what it takes to run a team successfully at this level!!

  53. Look this is how it should go. Re-sign RB Justin Fargas. That's done. Now re-sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha to a long term deal. Get rid of the dead weight like LT Barry Sims, C Jeremy Newberry, DE Tyler Brayton, WR Jerry Porter, FS Stuart Schwiegert, FS Hiram Eugene, and RB LaMont Jordan. Maybe try to trade some of these guys and maybe throw in a couple draft picks to get a good deep threat WR. First round of the draft, take either DT Sedrick Ellis or DT Glenn Dorsey to sure up the run defense and replace retired DT Warren Sapp. DE Chris Long is a great player, but he won't fix our poor run defense. We have enough pass rushers already. Then try to find a good WR in the second round of the draft. Then sign some good free agents from around the league, and as John Madden would say, BOOM!!! We have a team that can win some games. And when I say "Some" I mean more than 6 games in '08. Blaaaaadowwwww!!!!! How ya like me now?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and keep Coach Kiffin for a few more years.

    1. unfortuntely that plan needs a LOT of money put it into it. Money the Raiders dont have

  54. I'm a GURU when it comes to rebuilding this team

  55. The Raiders need: 2/ WR's (1 deep threat & 1 possession receiver) Left Tackle (smart, solid blocker) Center(solid blocker/smart player) Free Safety & Strong Safety (both that have good instincts & that can stop the run) move Michael Huff to Free Safety. 1/Defensive Tackle (Glenn Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis) to replace the retired Warren Sapp. We need an outside Linebacker that can stop the run. And we need to release LT Barry Sims, C Jeremy Newberry, RB LaMont Jordan, WR Jerry Porter, DE Tyler Brayton, FS Stuart Schwiegert, FS Hiram Eugene, OLB Jon Alston, OLB Robert Thomas, and QB Andrew Walter. These guys are dead weight. We need to re-sign DE/DT Tommy Kelly, DE Chris Clemons, CB Nnamdi Asomugha, CB/KR/PR Chris Carr, Special Teams specialist Jarrod Cooper, Isaiah Ekejuiba, Ricky Brown, and Chris Johnson. Re-sign TE John Madsen and Dominic Rhodes(Fargas is already re-signed). Keep Coach Lane Kiffin for a few years. Make Changes to the rest of the coaching staff(WR Coach James Lofton already hired). Keep the following Coaches: Greg Napp, Tom Cable, and Rob Ryan(Ryan needs to switch to the 3-4 defense),and Al Davis needs to have a stellar 2008 Draft, and hire a GM. Sign some good free agents from around the league. Keep 1 QB(Jamarcus Russell) in the starting line-up every game. The Raiders didn't get bad over night, and they won't be fixed over night either. But, this is what they need to do in order to get better. Yeah, it's a lot. I know. In reallity we are gonna have to go through at least 1 more losing season before we start winning more consistantly. We won't finish last in the AFC West though, that spot is reserved for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008.

  56. I want either DT Glenn Dorsey or DT Sedrick Ellis in the first round of the 2008 draft. Then look for a WR in the second round(if there's any good ones left). Take an Offensive Lineman in the late second or third round. Then try to find a decent FS or SS in the following rounds if possible. Or maybe trade some late picks to someone for a deep threat WR. Stay away from RB Darren McFaggen and Wannabe WR DeSean '' Potato Chip'' Jackson. They're soft like drug store cotton.

  57. Yeah, Shasta Jim. Defense baby, Defense! JUST STOP THE RUN BABY!!!!! Shasta Jim, you might be my new main shit stain, dog! Your cool like the other side of the pillow! You put the thrilla in manilla. You put shame in all these suckaz game. Your cool like the breeze, you float like a butta fly and sting like a sting like some crazy ass African Killa Bees. Your the master of ceremonies, Your the all knowing, you bring the terror man, like Pakistan. Keep typing in '08 dog.

  58. Shashta Jim, You should work for UPS, delivering knowledge like that to this wack ass chat room forum.

  59. Hey Sean, I don't see you typing anything. I hope your not sucking on Marty Shottenheimer's dick with LT. Did your parents forget to teach you how to type when you were being home schooled, you fuckin' nookie licker! Or Maybe your eating some Lucky Charms and praying for your team to draft those weak ass, egg shelled, potato chip losers, Mc Faggen & Jackson. Step into the arena son! Recognize game! Me & Shasta Jim are taking over this ma-fucka in the O-Cinco. WHAT! WHAT!

  60. YEEEEAHIE, YEEEEAHIE!

  61. I'm not anonymous. I'm the ''Mouf Of Souf Jer-Z". I have loved the Raiders all my life. And I'll shut down any Raider-Hater in the nation. I have a ''Commitment To Excellence" in trash talk. I made the last sucka break his mouse and shit. He could'nt handle my supreme chat $killz. I put the ANGSTA in Gangsta. And Sean puts the ANKSTA in Wanksta.

  62. Ok, I just got the Raiders 2008-2009 schedule. First I'll start with the HOME games: PATRIOTS(cheaters) TEXANS, FALCONS, JETS, PANTHERS, BRONCOS, CHIEFS, and CHARGERS. Now for the AWAY games BILLS, RAVENS, DOLPHINS, SAINTS, BUCCANEERS, BRONCOS, CHIEFS, and CHARGERS. This is one of the lightest schedules I've ever seen. The Raiders have 13 winnable games. The only tough one's are against the PATRIOTS, CHARGERS,BUCCANEERS, SAINTS, and PANTHERS. That's even if the PANTHERS and SAINTS are even that good next year. I'll bet if the Raiders draft well and re-sign their good free agents. Sign some other good free agent from other teams, and start Jamarcus Russell in every game. Then we will win 8-10 games at the most. So maybe there is a GOD Raider fans. Last year's schedule was rediculous . Our last 4 games were against the PACKERS, COLTS, JAGUARS, and CHARGERS. All playoff teams with 11 or more wins. This could be the year we have all been waiting for. And I'm starting to like the idea of DE Chris Long on the Raiders. He's Howie Long's son, and he's a beast. And from what I just read and seen, he can stop the run, too. There also just might be some good WR's left in the second round. Maybe even the DT that we sorely need left in the second round as well. I just went and did my homework. But I wasn't home schooled like SEAN, that ''BROWN-EYE BANGER''. Hey SEAN where ya at BUDDDDDDDDY?!?!?!?! SEAN must still be eating his LUCKY CHARMS with his new color changing spoon, that he found as a prize at the bottom of the box.

  63. Hey, Shasta Jim. I acually live 5 minutes away from QB Rich Gannon. My mom is in reality, and sold him the house. It's his summer house. I got to meet him, and got auto-graphs. He got a little mad though when I asked him why he threw so many interceptions in the Super Bowl. He also laughed when I asked him why he didn't slide instead of trying to run over Simeon Rice, and getting his neck broke the following years regular season game in Oakland. Remember Kerry Collins coming into that game and fucked' shit up? Kerry Collins killed the Buccaneers secondary. Kerry Collins actually has a summer house about 4 miles from where I'm at. I didn't want to meet that scrub though. He's probably too busy getting drunk. That alcoholic ass clown. Just about every single Philadelphia Eagles player live near me. But they suck. Especially in the 1980 Super Bowl, where the Raiders made
