The second week of the 2011 NFL season was a pretty memorable week. The Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins improved to 2-0, Cam Newton continued breaking records as the Carolina Panthers' quarterback and the Indianapolis Colts lost again without four-time MVP quarterback Peyton Manning.

Also noteworthy in Week 2 was the number of injuries suffered to star players.

The next seven slides will focus on the best players who were injured this week.

Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs' season could not have gone any worse so far. They have been outscored 89-10 through two games, and they lost safety Eric Berry to a season-ending ACL injury last week.

In today's game, star running back Jamaal Charles went down in the first quarter with an apparent knee injury. He was carted off the field and the injury has since been diagnosed as a torn ACL.

He will miss the remainder of the season, which is unfortunate, because Charles has proven himself as one of the best running backs in the league over the past two seasons.

Michael Vick, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

There was nobody more pumped for the Philadelphia Eagles' game in Atlanta than Philly's own quarterback, Michael Vick, who was returning to the city where he spent the first six seasons of his career.

Vick led the Eagles to 31 points, but he was knocked out of the game late in the third quarter after he collided with teammate Todd Herremans. Vick has been diagnosed with a slight concussion and his status for next week's game remains up in the air.

If he cannot go, the Eagles will have to decide whether they want to start Vince Young, a former two-time Pro Bowler, or Mike Kafka, who played very well in the fourth quarter against Atlanta.

Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys

Dallas quarterback Tony Romo has been the subject of much criticism, following his performance against the New York Jets last week, when he committed two costly turnovers in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys' loss.

But he performed heroically on Sunday, playing through two broken ribs to lead the Cowboys to an overtime victory against the San Francisco 49ers. Romo threw for two touchdowns without an interception and helped Dallas improve to 1-1.

His status for next week is unknown.

Felix Jones, RB, Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys running back Felix Jones suffered a separated shoulder early in Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers and left the game for treatment.

He returned wearing a shoulder harness, but his carries were limited as the game wore on, and he finished with just nine carries for 25 yards.

His status for next week is unknown.

Miles Austin, WR, Dallas Cowboys

Austin turned in one of his best days as a Cowboys' receiver, catching nine passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns. His final touchdown pulled the Cowboys within three in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter.

But he injured his hamstring and is reported to be out until the Cowboys' bye week, which is in early October.

Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger injured his knee in a 24-0 drubbing of the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. At first, the injury looked to be potentially very serious but reports have indicated that Roethlisberger will likely play against the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday night.

Arian Foster, RB, Houston Texans

In Houston's victory against the Miami Dolphins, star running back Arian Foster appeared to have re-injured his hamstring, which prevented him from playing in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.

With Foster battling hamstring problems, it would make sense for the Texans to try to get Ben Tate most of the carries in Week 3. (Backup running back Derrick Ward is also banged up and didn't play in Week 2.)
